Who's on the Rush Trib. Album??? Just Dream Theater??? (or any DT for
    that matter?)
Anybody know what chords John P. uses at the beginning of ACOS??? Is he in an "alternate" tuning -or- using the 7-string?
Where can I get a copy of DT's YYZ cover & where's a good place to get
bootlegs, live recordings (jams), or concerts....
Questions, questions, questions... You'll love to hate all my
questions... please bear with me until I fulfill my need to know... :)
Has DT ever used a 2nd guitar player (poss. rhythm)???
If DT did go instrumental, I don't think it would have a big impact on
sales... most people who buy their stuff are musicians or appreciate
their talents as musicians... Only college kids w/o attention spans
would stop listening... I consider the vocals another instrument that
adds to the splendidness of the music, if it goes then only 1/5 of the
quality goes... that brings it down to about a 15 (on a scale from 1 to
    10)...
    Forgive me for my long-windedness...

Five Albums: (why not everybody else is doing it...)
Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsies
Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons
Joe Satriani - Surfing w/ the Alien
Allman Brothers Band - A Decade of Hits (1969-1979)
John MacLaughlin and the Manishuva Ochristra - Any of it...

    matters...)

    Subject: New Queen Album

The New Queen disc is called "Live Magic" and will be out on 20th. It's just
going to be live stuff, hence the name. That's all I know. I guess we'll
    find out on the 20th.

FIND ALL YOU NEED IN YOUR MIND IF YOU TAKE THE TIME
    _________________________________________________________________________

This actually is not a new album, just newly released in the U.S. Live Magic
has been available in Europe for 10 years now. Everything that's on this disc
is also available on the Live at Wembley '86 cd. I would be really happy if
this were 1986, but since this is 1996, it's really kind of dumb for
hollywood to release it now. They should've released the unreleased BBC
tracks or the B-sides from previous singles. That's hollywood for you, talk
about a label with their head up their ass!

Finally got my hot little hands on the tribute CD today. LaBrie & Petrucci ROCK! Portnoy doesn't turn you loose for a second. George Lynch can't seem to leave the guitar out, though, on Anthem (Please, no Dokken flames!!). Steve Morse does justice to Barchetta & LaVS. One of my favorites is CTTH(yummmy). Oh yeah, can't forget Natural Sci.. Yeah, it's not RUSH or DT (really), but it certainly ads a new mix to my RUSH new CD / tour ritual. Which is, like some of you, a constant barrage of all that's RUSH from the time I hear a new one's on the way right up to the show. That's where I do the chronology RUSH to TFE. If I run out, I usually begin the "shuffle" of songs. The whole ritual drives my wife nuts, almost as bad as a new NFL season. The tribute also gives me something to jam until the new DT comes out.

Rock on, ladies & gents! Tim Templeton Kent, WA USA

    Dear jammers,

Hi there! I just spoke to Derek about his birthday, and according to him it's gonna be an extraveganza! He has revealed to me some of the guests at his party, and all I have to say is that you'd shoot yourself if you miss this event!

One problem though...I lost the instructions on how to get to the People's Pub. If any of you have it, then please post it. Otherwise, I can always call information and then post it onto the ytsejam.

The party is on August 23rd, at night. Derek didn't specify a time, so I'd assume either 9 or 10 pm. That was when Ethyl Mertz started their set (I think). I'll probably get there at around 8ish, but that's just because I don't want to miss anything!

Anyways, this event is something that you guys will definitely not want to miss! Derek wants to consider this as sort of a pre-YtseCon, so everyone come and wear your Ytsejam shirts! He wants a lot of people there!

That's all from here. I'll get the information on the location ASAP. As far as I know, it's on Jericho Turnpike somewhere in the 1900's. But, I'll get exact information. That's all from here! I'll post again soon!

    Yours, Jeff =)

To all you bunch of clowns, out there...

You should know better than to post your thoughts on who would replace James LaBrie in DT, if he ever left: you scared me shitless!!!

I started reading this jam, and as i read, I saw this part about replacements... and then the sky just fell on my head and I went apeshit. I hadn't read all, but I was sure James had signed his sayonara, so I immediately called up my buds and told them the news on a conference call. And as I was reading the text... I found it was all just speculation?!?

Now I know how 4 people laughing at the same time on the same line sounds like... thanks to you guys!!!

No hard feelings... I just hope that wasn't a prediction!

Found this gem at Best Buy. You'll find it most likely in the "compilations" section, not in the Rush bin, although an intelligent dept. manager would stock it both places or put a note in the latter saying "Check out this cool tribute album!"

I've played it through once. It's good. Get it. :)

It probably won't be easy to find, as BB only seemed to have one copy. Well, they did until I showed up. :)

Hey there fellow jammers! I am posting this as a request to all of you, and I can only hope that you will all read it, including the almighty Skadz, who is I believe manager of this list. This is not a complaint, but more of... an observation. I have recently been away for short periods and i had some catching up to do (3 or 4 jams each time). I've noticed that there recently has been several postings that looked like "unsubscriptions" to the jam. As I recall, when I subscribed, there was mention of sending this request to a specific email address, which was not the ytsejam@ax.com. Also, a lot of flaming, jibberish and talk of nonsense appeared in my numerous jams. This brings me to reflect upon the whole situation, and I have come to a conclusion, however brutal or crazy it may sound. I am member of the Rush mailing list (National Midnight Star) and the rush-mgr takes his time to go through the postings, and occasionnally posts administrative information. I believe that the Ytsejam would benefit of a similar "facelift". Not that I don't like the jam, it's just become... too much of a burden to go through all that crap just to get to the good stuff. I mean, one-liners and "unsubscribe ytsejam who ever" messages have to go. And I think most of you will agree with me. Not that I think that Skadz isn't the right man for the job. It's just that he sould take more care of it instead of letting his machine run on automatic. My suggestion is; cut-up the crap, throw it away, keep the good stuff, and post 50Ks instead of 26Ks containing 13 of total shit. It'll just be easier on all of us. Plus, I won't have to delete everything the minute it's read. Speaking of which, my disk cache is totally full. I had to delete every temp file I had just to keep my computer from telling me my print spooler is full. This cutting up thingy would make it a lot easier on me. Those of you who have an opinion, don't be afraid to post it. At least there'll be something to discuss rather than asking ourselves if DT members wear pink or polkadot boxer shorts.

    Keep 'jammin', Seb

Hi, my first time in the Jam...

I might be wrong here, but isn't Kevin Moore telling about the PMU video in the limo, like "then he came in adn told us that the company were going to shoot some footage tonight, so put on your best shirts" (some laughter)

Just found a Queensryche live in Tokyo video from a local used record store, if anyone is interested, it is for sale, true rarity, isn't it?

About LaBrie lefting DT, I'd like to see...ME singing in DT! :-P

BTW-has anyone heard a German band Lightmare, they should be in the veins of SAvatage etc.

Ja lopuksi kaikille Suomalaisille teatteri faneille: Moryens!!

    Now playing:Saviour Machine:II (speechless)

I've got an ACOS Japanese version, too. I always thought that the "Tears" cover coupon was shown on the cardboard insert (that thing on the spine of most japanese cds). On the back corner of mine, there's a little tiny triangle that is intended to be cut off (shown by dashed lines). I only assumed this was the coupon because I can't read Japanese :)

Was there actually supposed to be one on the inside?

    >Devin Townsend on "Nat Sci" - is someone stepping on this guy's nads? >God, he sounds awful! Total black spot on an otherwise amazing album. >Does he sound that bad on Vai's stuff?

Although I still don't have the tribute, and won't if SRO has their way, I can easily answer this question. YES!!!! Devin is EASILY the WORST singer I've ever heard! His forte, in his opinion, is his ability to scream. The problem is that HE DOESN'T KNOW WHEN TO SHUT IT OFF!!!!! :) He sings on Vai's Sex and Religion and there are only one or two listenable tracks on that record. Some otherwise good songs were totally BUTCHERED by this musical abattoir owner. If any of you like his voice, you're welcome to e-mail me and I'll sell you sex and religion for $8. It's the worst piece of shit vocally I've heard in years. Normally I wouldn't use the word shit, but sometimes accuracy is more important than style. :) If any of you have a heart, PLEASE digitize some small samples of the tribute and mail them to the Canadians on the jam until we can get our mitts on this thing. I have called 2 record stores in Toronto and both told me that SRO is blocking the sale of the disc in Canada. :( BASTARDS!!!!!

/me loads his grenade gun and prepares to go medieval on the asses of SRO!!

18 straight years of not missing a single Rush tour and this is the thanks that Canadians get!!!!!!!! Screw them! I'm mad enough about this whole thing not to buy TfE when it is released.

Hmm, this is my first post to the list in months I think. Long gone are the days where I had enough free time to be one of the most active members on the list <sigh>... I don't know where some of you get the time to read all these Jams.

Anyway, I've been quietly catching up on the last few weeks worth, and I've really noticed that in the last year and a half (I seriously can't believe it's been that long - the last year has just flown by for me) that I've been on this list, it's gone way downhill.

It seems that the list has become more popular, and there are a lot more dickheads in here now. In the kbibb days it used to be just a bunch of DT fanatics exchanging ideas and stories relating to the band, but now it seems there's very little here but arguing (ie. the metronome thread, etc.), NDTC, and pointless conversations. I used to enjoy reading each and every jam thoroughly, but now it seems like more of a chore to search for the useful and entertaining information. Does anyone else feel this way? I guess this will change when the new album comes out (I originally joined the list right after the AWAKE tour, and things were a lot more exciting then).

Oh well, I'm feeling a little depressed, only a month of summer left until I start my last year of high school (which is in some ways good, but I'd rather just hit 19, and stay there... unlike you people in the States, here we hit legal partying age in the last year of high school, and it kind of sucks to start university right then).

I see there are a few more Canadian jammers here now... awesome (we kick ass... :) ).
