yeah, that king crimson 2cd set "b'boom" is wonderful. it is taken
from a DAT soundboard, but it was mixed live to 2 track DAT. so
    is the new "thrakattack" cd.

it is tought to beat the quality of DAT soundboards when you have
control over a matrix section (you can set pan and levels for the
    subgroups)

Is anyone else out there missing a number of jams. I thought it was just me
about two weeks ago, then last week, four were missing in a row. Then I
thought it was just AOL (I'm getting sick of them, but that's another story).
Tonight, I get one, and I am now missing Jam#1762, and 1763 is like 4 posts
long. Is it me, AOL, JAM problems, aliens, A conspiracy launched by RUSH to
stop any kind of organization, all of the above, none of the above, WHAT????

    Hiya, Kids.

A few things have tickled my fancy (almost as much as D-Man's dancing),
so i thought I'd chime in here for a few.

Has anyone heard from Marcel Berkhout about the Carpe Diem CD? I
don't know about you guys, but i placed my order in March, and i'm
    getting a bit discourged.

Speaking of not hearing anything, has Tim Lodge finally decided
to send my InstruMENTAL II and III cd's, or do you think he's pulling an
    Al Balkowicks? I just don't know@!

So, on friday Ibanez, D-Meinster, Rachel and Myself will be
piling into the ytsemobile and going to Derek's party in Long Island. I
highly reccommend that those of you who _CAN_ go do go. It's gonna be a
kick ass affair, and there are a few suprises. :)

Ok. Time to go. You kids have fun.

I heard the song "Test for Echo" Fri. night on 93 Rock out of
Sacramento. It sounded really good! The vocals were kind of
weird (it might have been for effect), but it rocked. It didn't
have any of the guitar-crunch of the last album; it almost
sounded HYF-ish but with a heavier, fuller, cleaner sound. I
hope the whole album is strong since I think that usually Rush
writes a few "misses" on every album. I'll be sure to tape the
debut off the radio so I *can* wait a week to buy it. I'm not sure
about that petition thing. Rush might think that MC started it
and things could get really nasty.

    On Superior:

(after listening to it almost non-stop for over a month)

I think the record is perfect from "Tomorrow's Eve" through
"Total Void". The other songs they could've cannibalized as
far as I'm concerned, but that's just me. I wonder what musical
direction the label is pushing them to go in... bastards.

hit manny's this morning, and talked to a keyboard guy who mentioned he was
making some sound patches for derek on the new album, which i thought was
cool. manny's is the only place i've ran into that actually had an oberheim
matrix 1000 in stock. a fine piece of analog orgasmic gear.

i found part 2 of the king crimson "i will anally rape your ears with our
fine bootleg dat recordings" today. "thrakattak". again, the same fine sounds
i would recommend all your mothers and more to get. mike, glad you got what i
meant, and i know what you're going thru. thanks for not busting my balls for
    it.

i just gor off the phone with a gentleman at the people's pub. check this
out- derek was there!!!!! (?!?!?!) here are directions, straight from him.
their number is 516 499-2708, if you have more questions.

lie to exit 51, north. (park ave). approx. 1 mile, pass the nsp (northern
state parkway, and although he wasn't sure, exit 42 sounds right if you
choose to take that instead), pass a firehouse on the righthand side, then
the fork, where you veer right into east park ave. go one mile, veer into
jericho tpke. one light after jericho (approx. 1/16 mi., then another
1000yds.- i love how precise he was), you pass a shopping center. the
people's pub is the next building after the shopping center (elwood shopping
center). there's a carwash across the street from it, so you can wash your
car while you have sex as the big brushes go over your big brushes.

showtime is supposedly 11:00, at least that's what i heard derek yell in the
    bground.

    there. see ya'll there.

    love,
    your mom.

Hello everyone on the Machievelian Music mailing list!!! As the sub line
states, this is a quick update on my CD/Demo project, among other things. ;)

As of today, Monday, August 19, 1996, the songlist for SECTION 8 reads, in no
    particular order:

    1. Caeleryn
    2. Dreamstates
            Part 1: The Vision
            Part 2: The nightmare
            Part 3: The Awakening
            Part 4: Endless Dreams
    3. Ariata Cavatina
    4. Fire and Lightning
    5. BlueSky
    6. The Jam
    7. Heroes and Saints

I'm planning to have a rough demo version of this ready around mid-December.
And yes, it will be available to whomever wants it.

If you feel you simply must have a copy of ILLUSIONS, e'mail me at
Spatz13@msn.com so we can arrange to get you one.

That's it for now... hopefully, I'll have the Section8 web page up around
Sept. 1 for your viewing pleasure... maybe with it's own domain... }:)

    Thanks for your time!

    Greetings Jammers,

I mentioned a couple weeks back that the prog tape swap would be
returning as soon as my system went back online... well, I'm back on the
net so I'm going to get the ball rolling on this thing.

Here's the deal: you make a tape of your favorite obscure bands
(Shadow Gallery, Echolyn, Ivanhoe, Superior, Enchant, or any other
bands you feel might be of interest to someone with prog/prog-metal
leanings)... you make three copies of this tape... send them to three
people. In return you receive three different tapes full of similarly
obscure and noteworthy music. Sound cool? Well, then sign up to
    participate...

What I need from you: name, e-mail address, postal address.

            Send this info to: tapeswap@reich.uark.edu

After a decent number of people have signed up, I'll randomly distribute
your name and address to three people... and assign three people to
you. Full details will be sent out when you e-mail me... feel free to
ask any questions about anything you aren't sure about, have concerns
about, etc. This was done last year and turned out really well, so I'm
hoping that it will run similary well this time around. I've still got
the old list from last time, so don't hesitate to sign up again as I'll
be making sure not to overlap anybody from the last round.

Hope to be hearing from a lot of you guys in the near future... lets
make this thing work and introduce new bands to each other.

Well, if it's true that stores are pulling their copies of Working Man
off the shelves, the Tower in Seattle sure didn't get the news.. they had
three copies, and a couple of friends and I cleaned them out. Talk about
    timing!

It doesn't seem right that SRO, or Anthem, or whoever did it, should have
the power to stop distribution since no laws were broken in the recording
of Working Man. Whoever said that we should wait a couple of weeks to
buy Test for Echo is on to something.. I heard the new single on the
radio just now, and it sounds a lot like Power Windows type material.. not
the best choice for the first radio single IMO.

I _AMAZINGLY_ have heard the new Rush tune Test for Echo twice today
on the lackluster radio stations of Baltimore.

It is kind of a mellow song but I like it.

There seems to be a lot of people out there that are upset about the
problems that the CD, "Working Man", is having. Some have even gone so
far as to call Rush "Childish" for opposing its release.

Sure it sucks that a great CD is not being universally supported, but
guys - think before you speak!

Imagine that you are a world-famous Prog-rock Group in the twilight stages
of a glorious career and you find that some people are looking to make a
    profit off of YOUR music.

Maybe Magna Carta's upset because Rush apparently changed their tune
half-way through the process. Still, if you're a responsible Magna Carta
executive, you MAKE DAMN WELL SURE that your investment isn't going to go
down as an embarrassing loss. RUSH has the final say in where their
music is and isn't sold and they have EVERY RIGHT to withhold this CD.
Isn't that the way it should be?

"Yeah, but Rush is being greedy and childish by not allowing this to happen."

But aren't you yourself being greedy when you cry that "Working Man" isn't
as widespread as YOU'D like it to be?

People, they're Rush and they can do what they damn well please and it
shouldn't really matter to us WHAT their motives are. If they don't like
the COVER ART, that's reason enough for them to pull it. (Somehow I think
it's more than that. ;) They made the music - they should control the
flow of it, not some fledgling Prog-label.

I admire Magna Carta's idea. They put together a heck of an album, but
before all of that, they should have been ROCK SOLID in the legal
department and they obviously goofed here and hopefully it won't cost
them too much. It's a hell of a label they've got going.

So don't get down on Rush. Admire them that they have the courage to
fight for what they believe in, even if it happens to disagree with your
    greedy little tastes... ;)

With all of that said and done, I'm content to watch the market-value of
my personal copy of Working Man skyrocket in value. Heeheeheeheehee!!!!!

Hey EVERYBODY - go check it Suz's page - it's very cool. Nicely done, Suz!!!

But (you knew there had to be a but, didn't you) - you are telling people to
subscribe using the old _arastar.com_ address. Not gonna work! You might
wanna fix this ASAP. Everything else on your DT page is awesome, though!

BTW, a minor typo in your original message might throw some people - it's
geocities, not geocitis. Geez, aren't I the picky sumbitch today!
