Ah the power of Baywatch reaches new heights. Our friends across the
world now consider Tommy Lee, drummer of Motley Crue (Glam-rock
superpower of the 80's) to be merely "Pamela Lee's husband".

In order for a question to become a Frequently Asked Question, doesn't
    it have to be . . . umm . . . Frequently Asked? :-)

I've been on the Jam for 2 years and I don't think I've ever seen anyone
ask "What was the original title of Surrounded?", "Has anybody noticed
the Another Song phenomenon?" or "What is unique about the song 'A Change
    Of Seasons'?"! :-)

I think the *true* FAQs are things like "Can anybody give me some DT tour
dates?", "Where the hell is Bafu Vai?", and "Will Al Balkiewicz ever send
me those tapes he has owed me for OVER 18 MONTHS now?"

    Just teasing ;-)

I don't know who did the sampling... I was given these files by DblAgnt
on IRC. Yes, TFE02.AU is corrupt... I will be replacing it with a fixed
    version very soon now.

In fact, by the time this message gets to everyone, I will have three new
songs up there as well... "Carve Away the Stone" and "Dog Years" and
"Resist". Extra-special thanks to Chris Merlo for his kind donations. :)

    Clever! I like!

I agree... Time and Motion sounds a lot like DT, musically. I think
this, and Driven and Half the World are the best of the bunch so far...
but I'll have to find that LAST ONE before I can judge.

So far, my FTP site (ftp://spiritone.com/pub/users/schnoor) has 10 songs:
Driven, Carve Away the Stone, Dog Years, Half the World, Limbo, Test For
Echo (about to be replaced), Time And Motion, Totem, Virtuality, and
Resist. Feel free to download and spread the word!

Music content: I absolutely love "October Rust". Just wondering how come
it doesn't come pre-packed with razor blades.

DTC: I would love to hear the boys do a cover of "My Girlfriend's

    Dear jammers,

Hi there! I've received some e-mail that the La Guardia Marriot has no
information about the YtseCon III in their computers. Well, I'll try to
get that fixed up sometime this week. Things are extra hectic for me
since I'm finally moving back to campus for the next school year (arg!!),
but hopefully things will be straightened out about that sometime this
    week (maybe Wednesday or Thursday).

In any case, I'll let you know how things go with that. Until then, I'll
    talk to you soon!

How do any of you who plan to boycott Test for Echo or wait a long time to
buy it really know all the circumstances behind the debate? All I've seen is one
or two sentences about how initial consent was given, and then revoked. How do
we know that this is the 100% truth? We don't. Almost everything on the net is at
LEAST second-hand information, sometimes much more removed from the source. Think
about it, is this alleged behavior really like Rush? No. Even if it is, who
cares? I don't have to agree with everything they do to enjoy and appreciate their
music. I don't have to subscribe to all of Neil's beliefs to respect his intellegence.
Why do you people want to turn on a band that is so dear to us?It's not like the
tribute album was surpressed and never seen. All the reports about major record stores
not carrying it have proved to be false. If you can't find it, either it is sold out,
or you are not looking hard enough. Why is everyone so quick to believe that Rush has
sold out for the money and have abandoned those who admire them? TRUE Rush fans would
not make these hasty judgements based on unreliable information. I'm not bothering to
put IMHO, because I don't give a shit if anyone gets as offended as I have been by
    these traitors in our midst.

Well maybe for everyone who is flying we can arrange a spot to meet at the
airport and then we could all cross the street together (big laugh). No
one's gonna jump a whole bunch of people - not even for NYC. So the only
danger I see at this point is traffic...

WHAT?! I just joined this list yesterday (although my husband & I are LONG
    time
Rush & DT fans), so this is the first I've heard of Rush opposing the
    tribute album.
It's also the first I've heard of a BOYCOTT! I'm stunned.

I agree. I don't think TRUE Rush fans would make any judgments period.
    Maybe I shouldn't
speak up right away, but when I found this group I was amazed that there
    actually ARE
other musically enlightened people on this planet - and now some of you

    >If you can't find it, either it is sold out, or you are not looking hard
    enough.

ummm, why should *I* have to search for a new release? If it's something
that's been out of print for a while that's one thing, but this is something
    that's recent;y been released.

    >Why is everyone so quick to believe that Rush has sold out for the money
and have abandoned those who admire them?

Rush sold out in 1979. That doesn't mean that they haven't made good music
    since then,
it just means they made their music more commercially accessible. Listen to
Hemispheres and then listen to anything Rush put out in the 80's and then
say that they didn't go commercial.

    >TRUE Rush fans would not make these hasty judgements based on unreliable
    information.

You, my friend, are the reason the word fanatic was created and why people
in the spotlight need security. Just because someone speaks the truth about
a band doesn't mean they're not a fan. One of my favorite bands is Kiss. I
know this is committng ytse-suicide, but I've loved Kiss since 1976 and I
probably always will. On the other hand that doesn't mean that Gene $immons
isn't a whore. EVERYTHING he does is based only on how much money can be
made out of a situation. That's why there's this reunion with the original
four, not because they felt some urge to create music again with Ace Frehley
    and Peter Criss.
    I'm not bothering to

If it's true Rush is trying to stop the release of the Magna Carta disc then
I suggest this to people. Go to the used CD stores and see if they have
promos of the disc for sale and buy those, or wait a couple months till the
people who bought it day of release resell them, then buy the used copy.
This way, you still get to own the thing, but Rush doesn't get any money for
it. That's usually what I do. It means nothing to them if one or two people
do that, but if enough people do it, they'll get the message.

Welp, I got my early birthday present in the form of Mike Bahr's CDs
yesterday in the mail. Being a bit on the strapped side lately, it took
me awhile to send him his payments for all the CDs I had reserved. But
I finally did, and yesterday I got Antiquties, Scenes from a Memory, and
Critical Mass. As always, kudos to Mr. Bahr for some outstanding work.

I just wanted to say how blown away I was by Critical Mass. Lately I've
been feeling a bit down on Rush because of the whole Tribute thang, and
I hadn't really listened to any of my Rush CDs in a while, but this CD
got me all hot and bothered again about their new album and upcoming
tour (PLEASE come to Portland this time around!!!). I was considering
doing something symbolic like wait a couple weeks to buy their new album,
but I'm afraid I just won't be able to. =)

I was surprised to see that after all this time, my CD number was only
    235. This is a real shame that not many people have bought this yet.
I hope the denizens over in TNMS or a.m.r haven't steered clear of this
because of Cygnus, because CM is just a quality piece of work.

Anyway, enough raving, back to work <sigh>.

Hi jammers, I've only been on for a few days and this is my first message! On Ironman's question: since I live in Sweden I have no idea about the Tennessee stuff. I do, however, have the JP video in my possession and yes, for guitarists it's definetely worth the money. It's rather technically oriented with tons of mind/finger-bending exercises that'll keep anyone busy a lunchtime. It also has some very short live clips and interview sections. For anyone who's not a guitarplayer though, you'd have to be absolutely fanatical to buy this 'cause it's really an instructional video and not intended as entertainment.

For those of you who like discussing pronounciation matters, give my last name a try:) Greetings from Tomas Aengshammar
