    to chris ptacek:
i didn't mean to sound hard in my response. no harm intended when i said "get
that shit out your head." misunderstanding, and for my part, apologies.

regarding the issue of whether or not there will be a jp 7 string model, i
understand where you're coming from and who you've spoken to, which is cool
and all, but regardless about how much we debate this issue, the point
stands- there's no actual jp 7 string guitar to be said of at the moment. if
it ever does surface, i'll buy every jammer one of them (yea, right! my
asshole!), and will perform other various deeds of ill nature. if not, well,
it ain't there, so that's cool, i hope.

.......and why the fuck is it that i always seem to miss the good parts of
the jam. bafu, i'm not even going to ask what the fuck you're getting
verbally sodmized for- all i know, is that i've been dying reading your
responses from some very irate people. if only i had caught what started all
    this.

of course, we all know in reality that bafu vai is nothing but a goon! a
    common, woman-hating, country-loving goon!

    god bless america.

where's ytse and jam when we need them?

to "spiff", re: the yes listening guide

wow, i'm surprised, fragile and closer to the edge, and still not digging
it....maybe you should go for an early album, like "the yes album". if maybe
you're looking for poppier seeds, naturally go for the later albums (big
generator, et al). if you STILL don't like them, FUCK YOU- YOU SUCK! no, i'm
kidding. if you still, don't like it, it wasn't meant to be. set them free,
and try something like elp or king crimson instead........

    more bafu-related drugs

<One of the main reasons I've been around for these first 150 jamz (woo

<hoo) is Bafu's humour. I'd be willing to bet that he's into Monty Python,

    <like me

i'm also willing to bet he's into leather. hey ladies, esp. you of the
sado-masochistic type: how can one not like a guy like bafu??

    and lastly, to mike bahr:
once again, if i haven;t said it before, congratulations on your special day.
    you the man.

ok, that's it for today. next time.........

It's a tough decision. Who is better? Who really cares? Can you
really even put them in the same catagory? Tough question-eh? (no pun
intended with that eh remark) I just want some insight into the matter at

    Hey everyone...been a while!

    Got a few things...

!> Caught Rush last night in Phoenix, they were beating up some kids and
    stealing thier candy!!! ;)

No really...saw 'em live (3rd time) and they get better every time.
Except for a few gutiar tech problems during Red Sector A, the show was
flawless, and amazing! I feel sorry for those of you up in Colorado and
    Wahington!

    @> I've been thinking about this DOUBLE-ALBUM dilema...I got a pretty
cool idea that may hove already been passed around.

As I understand it, the biggest problem with releasing a 2-cd set is the
sales difficulty. Basically, people unfamiliar with DT who hear a song
they like will be hesitant to whip out 25-30 dollars for one song.

How about this...a few years back Guns N Roses released the Use Your
Illusion CDs...came out at the same time, but they we seperate, so you
could buy one or the other, or both if you were into them. If DT did
something to this effect, I think it might work!

    What d'ya think?

I've always called it orchestral metal. Being from Sweden you may have
heard of Veni Domine?? I would lump them into this category. Same with
Savatage and DT. But whereas these are "orchestral" metal, I think bands
like Marillion (I just got "Afraid of Sunlight" Cool) and Rush are just
    progressive. Any thoughts?

sorry for the NDTC, but I just heard that Jason Becker passed away a few
days ago. is this really true????? I heard this from Dave Marton, a local
guitarist (that Bafu reviewed a few days ago). He was just on my friend's
radio show, and said that becker passed away.
if it's true, then my condolences go out to his family and friends. The world
has lost a really inspirational and great musician and person. again i hope
this is not true, so if anyone knows the truth, please let me know (i'm just
    passing on what i heard).

regarding Dave Marton, he played 2 songs from his album, and one live
track from the hard rock cafe, and i have to say that i'm very impressed!
If you like Erotomania, I'm sure you'd love his music.Their all big fans of
DT, and people like steve morse (who dave played with in boston on one occasion). Dave went to berklee school of music like the guys in DT, and really is
an excellent guitarist from the 3 tracks i've heard.
He is playing (along with his band) at the Hard Rock Cafe on dec. 4th, at
9:30pm. oh this is in vancouver, b.c. for those who missed bafu's post.
I'm going to be there for sure!

Pardon if this was mentiojned, but I caught on Turkey-Day the tail end of
"It came from the 80's 2: Metal goes Pop" -- is this the same special that
folks were talking about before? It was pretty cool, and following it was
about 10 viedos hosted by the guy who sang for Poison. Motley Crue, Kiss,
Warrant, Great White, etc. Was a load of fun for me, reliving those high
    school years. :)

    Today was a kewl day...(sorta)

Well, first, let me say that I have found my new major influence in my life. I finally established David Arkenstone on my list of musical influences along with Yanni, Dream Theater, and Tchaikovski. I recommend this guy to anyone who enjoys new age music. It's really cool. It's kinda like a cross between Yanni, Enigma, and Eric Johnson. This guy doesn't specifically play guitar or piano, he plays about everything he can get his hands on. If you like Yanni, I really think you'll like this guy.

I cruised to Salt Lake City today and got my first shot at the Korg Trinity today. Two words: Rokz Nadz. This keyboard totally blew me away! It does everything I ever wanted and more. I only wish I had asked the sales rep (DT fan, we BS'ed about Derek Sherinian and KevMo a bit) the right questions about it. Can anyone let me know if this sucker's capable of sampling out sounds and storing them on a SCSI drive? (privately) A guy at another shoppe told me about an Ensoniq (ADR 100<?>, I suck at remembering names) that does this and he said I should get one of those.

Also, I'd like to make a public apology to Vince for my flame on him this morning. I must've been in a bad mood. F**kin' chain letters... :)

Bad news, the passing of one of my great inspirations, Jason Becker. Someone please reply whether this is true or not. This is a very serious issue to me as I have the utmost respect for that person. His optimism has encouraged me like you wouldn't believe.

    Laterz...

On a different note, how many fellow jammers feel that long songs can get boring. I really haven't formed an opinion on "A change of seasons" because I tend to avoid long songs. After "Inagaddadavidda" or however you spell it I lost interest in long songs. Does anyone agree?

YT>> Kurt Cobain (in my opinion) sucked in comparison to YT>> Petrucci but I still respect Cobain for his work.

YT> Yes, I think Kurt did suck, but I have some problems with that respect YT>part. It's hard to respect an "artist" that scribbles on a pad with a YT>purple crayon, and for me, it's tough to respect a "musician" that YT>pretty much does the sonic equivalent.

I used to think exactly the same way. Now, even with an excellent Art Appreciation course under my belt, I realize that I have no idea what Jackson Pollack was doing. It is much more realistic for me to believe that one day I'll be an authority on music, instead of an authority on art. I'm not going to say that Pollack's work was garbage, nor will I say that about the work of Cobain. I will say, however, that the work of Pollack is over my head, while the work of Cobain is below it. To anyone who may be offended (and thinks that a flame will change my mind, attitude, or opinion of your mother), I'm not putting them down - I'm merely saying that as far as the various realms of art and music are concerned, Jackson Pollack had much, much more artistic training that I will ever have. Kurt Cobain had much less musical training than I've had. I can't really relate to the work of either one of them. I'm not going to put them down. I'm not going to spend my spare time trying to relate to it, either. Will I learn anything? Will they learn anything? Nothing significant. We're all happy. Why cause problems? Give me my DT fix for '96 and I'll be satisfied in the worst way:)
