Thanks, Jason, for putting *me* on the spot. At least now if somebody gets
lost because of the poor directions, they'll blame you instead of me. :)
Seriously, though...
The place is "all ages" - it's just like a restaurant, except with *much*
fresher beer. :) I go there before all the Strand shows I go to, and on a
Thursday night, it shouldn't be too busy to accomadate however many of us
actually show up.
>If you can't find it, just rejoin the
>masses near the Strand. We'll look for you there before we head over.
Errr....this is specifically for Jason, I don't plan on waiting in front of
the Strand until EVERYBODY shows up... :)
This won't be a "formal" get-together; I'm not going to take names or make
reservations or anything like that. If you want to show up for some eats and
drinks before the show, this is your best bet. (For those of you on a
budget, there's a McDonald's one block over from the Strand. :))

Okay. I went to go get tix to the Birch Hill show since I live just an hour
from there, and I find that it's an 18+ show!! I almost passed out. I'm
only 16, and like every 16 year old, I had to go through the units first.
They said that they wouldn't even let me try to get in, as if I'd be
arrested if I didn't get in. I look like I'm 19, so I don't think I'd have a
problem anyway. DT is my favorite band, and I'd give anything to see the
show, but now I can't because I'm 16?! Is this true of all their shows? Or
does it depend on the place the show is held?
Help!

Hello Jammers,
A year or so ago I used to post these posts all of the time, I believe
the jam was less volumous, than it is now. <grin> Anyway...
Porcupine Tree - Signify
--------------
Porcupine Tree is a mix of King Crimson, Pink Floyd, ambient, and
industrial musics. On the latest disk Signify, guitarist/vocalist Steve
Wilson and company craft music influenced by the career of Pink Floyd
with a bit of the Robert Fripp edged guitar at times. Lots of samples
and echoes, acoustic guitar is finely placed within some of the pieces
featuring vocals. My favorite songs on the album are Sever and Dark
Matter. Sever features lyrics "Telepath Carbon trapped under stone,
Brother mother pale body is thrown, Only way I know to have fun, fill up
my blood, my veins, my lungs." The song is brisk with a harmonic refrain
"No sense of time, Sever tommorrow, Exitless mind-ESP, Sever tommorrow."
Anyone who likes the spacier early Pink Floyd (More, Meddle (echoes, one
of these days), A Saucerful of Secrets, Dark Side of the Moon), and
thinks that Robert Fripp has some pretty cool guitar ideas should check
out Porcupine Tree. This band creates music that doesn't sound
dated/retro, I'm just annoyed that I was in a room with all of the band
members for 1/2 hour and I couldn't think of anything intelligent to say.
Later,
Mike
See everyone at Birch Hill! Yeah, I'm finally going to be at an event
with other Ytsejammers, its going to be scary! <grin>

Bahahah....
Yeah, right. As I remember they cancelled their gig in Boise last
time they toured. I reckon they won't be coming back either. And
after the Slayer incident in Salt Lake City, they've started another
banned band thing. I wouldn't be surprised of DT passes over our
area completely.(everyone else does) I'm still keeping my fingers

Hi!
I'm still alive, can you imagine that? :)
Just wanted to tell you that I'm really a little jealous of all
you guys (& girls :) who saw and heard DT play their newest songs.
I can't tell you how I wish that I could have been there with you
and see what they do now... *Sigh* but I'm just too far away. :)
As you all post so many reviews of the DT shows, I will now post
a little review of a show I saw over here last Friday: Skyclad
played here in Karlsruhe in a small club called Subway. I have to
admit that ( at first ) I went there to talk to their tour manager
because he invited us to come there and talk about touring with
Superior. But then me and Martin ( our bass player ) stood there
and listened to Skyclad and we were really surprised about what
we saw. Ok, their music is not progressive IMO but their songs
have something special. And that's not only because of the use
of a violin(!). Their songs were really cool and the girl
with that violin was just freaking out at some songs. :) Martin
said that she would have been burned if she had lived a few
centuries ago... :) So what I want to say here... if you have
the chance to see them live... check them out! It's a cool band!
What really surprised me too was their singer because he was
talking clear German between all the songs! As far as I know
Skyclad come from England (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).
Ok, enough from me now...
Ah! Stop! Just a little note for all of you who like the music
of Superior... we will have new T-SHIRTS in a few weeks!!! I will
take a picture of them and put it to our Website because nobody
should buy something he hasn't seen... :) BTW, they will look
coooooooooooool! :) I'll tell you all again when they're finished.
Then you are free to order as many as you can take. Hehe :)
Bye.
Bernd.

Heh heh... Good ol' James & his wonderful timing!
Dunno if there's anyone on this list who was at the Milton Keynes
(UK) show back in '93. As James came on at the start of the gig
to sing Metropolis, he tossed his hair back & entangled it in John
Myung's machine heads... while the band played on, he put his mike
down, untangled himself, took a bow at the front, then got his mike &
carried on... that was fuckin' funny!
Sorry to drag that one up James...
