Hmmm... I must say that this post is not really for making a
question, but a simple attempt to have a message in the Ytsejam 2112
(hey! we finally made it! :) )
So, to make this post of some use and not to be a total waste of

are receiving? I'm not a member of the fanclub, so I'll not be receiving

First post in a while, but it's an important subject.
I now wear earplugs to all shows, practices, gigs, the works. I get my
hearing tested annually at work, and although my hearing has not shown
any dramatic loss, I do suffer from tinnitus. If you've ever been to a
loud show (duh), the ringing in your ears after is what I experience all
the time. The loudness of the ringing is only about 25-30% of the
ringing immediately following a show, but it's there ALL THE TIME. From
what I understand the worst it gets the more it sounds like everything
you hear is being run through a distortion pedal. It actually sounds
like frequencies are clipping. So, please, wear ear plugs. Your hearing
diminishes naturally as you get older, and I've already screwed mine up,
so I now dread the future. Imagine your favorite music sounding bad all
the time, and it's you that's the weak link in the chain. Your hearing
can't be upgraded.

ohhhh, wow, anyone that didnt get to see one of these shows should really be
kicking themselves in the head right about now. The only word that comes to
mind is FLAWLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! James sounded much better than last year,
mike your new kit sounds ohh so sweet, whoever said derek was doing all of
those 32nd notes, i had a good enough position to watch him, (i didnt really
see any, wouldnt have cared as he is very powerful on stage). what a show, i
absolutly love what they did to all of their old songs that was
rockin!!!!!!!!
ok, heres the fun part(and where i really got annoyed_) there was this guy
standing next to me( a real loser) howard, he was so damn ytse-annoying, and
to boot had no clue about anything. as the boys started playing killing
hand(rocked really hard) hes pulling on my arm saying its to live forever, i
had to laugh in his face cause even though not many people knew this one many
who did were going nuts (like me). I told him he doesnt know his theater and
laughed in his face, he tried to prove me wrong up until the vocals come
in..............so to howard, i give a hearty "Kiss my ass" as he really
annoyed me on more than that one occasion.
the new stuff, wow, what an amazing thing to hear new songs b4 they are
recorded, hearing them in there roughest purest state was an absolute treat.
i would have to say that my favorite of the new ones is burning my soul
TWISTING..........TURNING.......... the delivery on those to words in the
song sent chills down my spine.
what a sho, loads better then last years BH........

As much as I HATE working in a mall, at least I get free coffee :).
Ear plugs. Waer them. I remember seeing Megadeth last summer. I
wore plugs, the dude I was with didn't. He couldn't hear after the
first opener (Fear Factory). I could hear after the entire show (and
I could hear the bands really well, too). Plugs were a necessity at
Maiden (since I was about 3 or 4 feet from the front speakers).
Man, and I missed jam 2112 by one. Crap.
Went to pick up some Metallica tix for a friend yesterday. I'm not
going to the show (unless I can score some free ones and am in the
area when they play). I heard the stage is supposed to take up
almost the entire floor of the Kiel Center. That's friggin' big.
Okay, sorry for the uselessness of this post.

Ah, sleep. It's 12:30pm and I have just come from my slumber. Unlike some of
you losers, I felt not the
need to post upon my arrival from the totally inadequate confines of Birch
Hill. ((The deck bar is open, you
assholes)) So, instead of giving an account of the show, because that surely
will be done upto infinity and beyond,
I will recount the magical happy story of one (well, two if you count my
passenger) man's struggle to find the fucking
club and all things other that can go wrong. First, I left from sunny (or
was it cloudy?) Cape St. Claire, Maryland, on the
banks of the Magothy River. I pick up Mr. Backof over near Baltimore and we
are on our way. I listen to Superior for the
firt time. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. Then, somewhere in
Jersey we stop for facility utilization. I return to
the car, and hello! If it isn't the ever-friendly "Check Engine" light. Ok,
I can deal with that. We continue to exit eight, get off,
ease on down the road (allusion to the times when Michael was still black.
Jackson that is.) Strangely enough, my car
seems to be accelerating by itself. That is, I AM NOT PRESSING ON THE GAS,
YET I AM ACCELERATING. As I
repeated numerous times this evening, "This is not good." Engine light on.
Engine light off. Clutch in, rpms revving.
Argh. So we go along northbound on 9. No sign of Birch Hill. "Hey, there's
TGIF!" he said. "Well, where's the K-MART?"
Ok, let's ease on down the road. Soon there is another TGIF. Hmm. The club
should be around here somewhere. So
we continued along 9 north. "Hey, how'd we get on the fucking parkway
again?" "Let's pull a u-turn" "Damn." So we
exit, pay our 35 cents and go back and pay another 35. Go back south on 9.
Pull into the TGIF. No one resembling a
long-haired hippy fuck. Ok, let's eat. So we eat. We see a guy in jam shirt.
So. We aren't the only ones. Then we go
back south on 9, and pull into coconuts records. "So, where the hell is
Birch Hill?" "Right down the road." Hmm, so maybe
we went to the wrong TGIF....Entering the new TGIF, we see a long table full
of happy, expectant (not that way) Jammers,
some of whom were friendly, some of whom were not. Ms. Dragon chastises our
idiocy. All I have to say is that NJ should
be eliminated from the map if for no other reason than the stupid
bottle-necks (jug-heads, whatever). I drove back and forth
because, like an idiot, I assumed u-turns are made from the left lane. "Oh,
there's the jug neck!" "Shit." Car is still mysteriously
assuming a Christine-like behavior. So finally we reach Birch Hill.
Looooooong ass line. Coooooold ass wind. But I had
thought to wear my jacket. So we get in and the crush begins. We situate
between the two bars in the back. Mike is tall, so no problem for him.
Asshole. Some people congratulate me on my choice of Red Wings apparel.
Others scoff at their choking come play-off time. So the opener starts up
right away. Not too bad, but I saw effectively nothing of the show. Then,
BEFORE 11 O'CLOCK, DT comes on. Wow. That's early. Idiots squish in some
more. Drunks dangerously wave lit cigarettes near my 175 dollar
Wings sweater. Grrrrrr. Two people toke up right next to the bar. Cigarette
smoke decends, covers, and infiltrates. We decide to move over to the source
of fresh air, *the deck bar door.* Now I experience the sensation of
freezing and burning up at the same time. A fat guy blocks the breeze. Hot.
Fat guy leans to the other side. Freeze. Drunks in cowboy boots slip on the
wet stairs. People laugh uncontrolably. Somehow the drunk with the cigarette
(which one, you ask?) makes it over there and starts waving his
burn around again. I try to make myself smaller. Fat guy #2 seizes the day,
so to speak, to steal my sqaure foot of space. Asshole.
Meanwhile, there is a concert going on. They *sound* good....But, who knows
what they look like? Note: why do all middle-aged NJ meatheads have to wear
a bandanna on their fat, balding heads? *Dude* we still notice! So, I look
at the monitor to see the
show. Nice resolution Mr. Fuckin' Circuit City. No good. The wind picks up.
Damn it's cold over here by the door. Hmm. No where
to move.The show ends at a very respectable hour, 200 people stick around. I
remove my ear plugs just in time to be plastered to the wall by ACDC and
Rush. Fuck this. I am driving the 3 1/2 hours back home tonight. Hopefully
Mike can find the buried key in his grandparent's yard or else....Grandpa's
getting woken up at 5:00am. The ride home is uneventful, beside Christine,
er...my car's
unexpected acceleration and generally freaky behavior. Of course I just took
it in for service on Thursday....I can just see telling the
cops, "But officer, *I* wasn't speeding, it was the damn car!" Anyway, I got
home at 5:30, went directly to bed, and didn't rise until
now. It was good meeting some of you - others...well, we can't all be as
cool as you.

Hey.. just bought altura's cd.. i must say it is awesome.. its very
good.. very reminiscent to DT (imo) .. liked it alot.. i also picked up
Dixie Dreg's Full Circle.. i was a little dissapointed.. i had listened
to a live one... and it was a little better..but this ones' ok.. but i
expected a bit more...can anyone recomend other Dregs cd's more in the
bring them back alive vein? anyway to find Full Circle was a bitch..i
cant imagine trying to find older cd's

her to a dt show, and she seemed to "enjoy" it. truth is, if she really likes
dt (or any other band, for that matter), she'll do it herself.

next girlfriend i ever get (if i am so lucky, since i'm such a scummy

as for your gripe that keys players get no respect- i totally fucking agree
with you. i wanted to get that across previously, but then i got stuck with
some other stupid thread.
and you know what? i hate admitting this too, but keyboardists will always be
where they are, whatever position in the musical hiearchy you call it. they
will constantly be overlooked. this is why:
the guitar is phallic. the keys are not. girls who go see bands like guys who
play with phallic things because they are wholly convinced that's how they
play with their true phalli. males, ever-wise marketers of the good of the
world, realize this, and thus push all other instruments out of the way.
but what about drums? what's so phallic about drums, and they get all the
attention, too. well, some girls get so enthralled by guys beating on
things, well....the rest is history.

OK. Have you guys ever heard about the ear plugs that cost about forty
bucks but that a specialist crafts to your ears in particular to make the
sound perfect, but simply in a lower decibel range? Sound cool to me.
Damon, I think you are over-stressing the need to breach people's
fear or disrespect of blindness to succeed in music. I have been blind
for as long as I can remember (two years old or so) and musically, if I
play well and work on the songs and they're what people want to hear, they
aplaud and apreciate me. Look at the classics Stevy Wonder, Ray Charles,
Jeff Healy, etc. They've been very respected and I don't even think Healy
can play decently enough. Personally, I think other problems exist for
people like us in the music industry, but here's something very important.
By being on the net and meeting people through severs like these for the
first time, that first impression of "the blind guy" is dropped. When
non-impaired people find out that someone who they've been corresponding
with is impaired, most people's minds are opened, I believe and these
people are people who are musically involved and can help educate the
masses. What do you sighted people think?
On a similar note, does anyone know of a good composition/sequencer
program that runs on IBM's with a DOS interface? The music lab on campus
only has Phenally (or however you spell it) and that is only accessable to
me through other people. Thanks for tollerating this long-ass post.

now that the shows are over, ie. spoilers dont matter, can somone
send me the correct setlists for all the shows? i dont really read
the ytsejam anymore, and am disappointed that i decided to not go
see/tape the shows at the last minute. i want to see what i missed.
somone said something about they played lots of rush at the end of
the birch hill show, what's up with that?
