yeah, but there is such a thing as rediscovery. Hopefully, one day, somebody
will rediscover true musical ability and we can stop this mindless top 40
alternative stuff. Let's think. Can we honestly say that there are major
stars of the 90s? Pearl Jam, and STP, maybe, but if the music changes
tomorrow, will these guys last? Will they be able to adapt? Probably not. So,
where are the long-term careers? Record companies don't care about long term.
They want their money now. Screw long term. This is why we have the crap we
have now. There is no long term anymore. The days of the rock star suddenly
are dead. Unless things change, we will see more artist turnover than ever in
rock's brief history. Let's stop the madness. Learn to play your instrument
    and screw the image already.

i cant believe its already jam #2112... from all the times months and months
ago when the talk of this day, and even long ago when itchy's post about
future jam dates was there, i still never knew it'd come and pass so soon...
so much happens here, its such a cool place... a lot of what i do is in
ricochet to this place.. hell, most of the presents i bought this year were
for jammers! its one of the coolest environments to experience, stuff you
wont find in face to face conversations with people.. a totally new world
and mindframe, and a very cool one at that. i'll keep it short and sweet...

     Keep ROCKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    OK, OK, OK.

On this whole Richie Sambora thing (spelling), yeah, I've never heard his
solo stuff. I am sorry, I am going by the things I heard in Bonjovi, which to
me just sounded like everybody else. To me, he was a copycat guitarist. I was
never really aware of his solo work. I take it back.

could it be? I am making enemies? OK, I have fallen. I'm beaten. I've done
wrong. I used to be so loved. I thought I was cool. Asshole? No, ask most
people who know me for longer than a few months. Ask the guys I talk to on
IRC. I think they'll aruge that asshole comment, or will they? Hey, so I
slipped. so I lost my cool for a minute. doesn't everybody have their weak
moments? I just happen to be the dick of the month. I am not going to bore
the Jam with what my life has become. But hey, if you all want me to
disappear again that badly, that can be arranged.

    > YOU JUST CANT COMPARE THE INSTRUMENTS, THEY SERVE FOR DIFFERENT THINGS...

hi. there's this cute little key on your keyboard that has "caps
lock" on it. it's located to the left... there ya go. try using it.

about the whole keyboard/guitar thing... if you're uptight about
getting respect, you might as well quit. music isn't about respect,
it's about doing what you love. but if you think, for example, that
keyboards are overshadowed, then do something about it; start a band
that emphasizes the keys more. but to be honest, i've been a
keyboard player all my life and the relatively minimal popularity of
them in rock music never bothered me. i can't understand why it
    would bother anyone else.

i haven't posted for a while, and i'm sorry if this post seems a tad
negative, but there's just been alot of arguements on the jam lately
that, if you really think about it in the grand scheme of life,
really aren't all that important. when you're laying on your death
bed, i imagine the last thing that'll enter your mind is that one
thread on the jam... anyway, i'd just like to see this place
    lighten up a bit.

what i'm trying to say is... everyone smile dammit! :-)

this is what I have noticed:

    1. Whenever James reaches for a high screach, he touches his tongue outside of
    the front of his mouth.

    2. Derek should stop tripping over his stool. (it's a joke, I know your
Snapple was much more important..............and Quazel's breasts!)

    3. Who the fuck cares?

PS For those of you that went to the WRONG TGIF, it's not my fault!!! At

    In a word, kick ass.

The Derek interview will be sent to the jam when I have an opportunity to
edit it down. Got to meet MP and JL as well. SOrry I missed JM and JP, but
they threw us out. The BH people were kind of rude, don't you think? Also,
glad to have finally met Wisha, Quazel, one of the Andrews, Ryan, and Big
Swifte. Hope I didn't miss anybody. Wish I could've talked to everybody, even
the DT guys, longer. And Derek still owes me a tour of his keyboard rig,
although I think I was the last thing on his mind tonight. My impression is
that most of DT really didn't care too much that I was on the radio, although
James asked my name when I told him. Then again, they owe me nothing, and I
am nothing specail, just because I play their music on a university radio
    station.

The new material is awesome. Lines in the Sand especially, which i found
out is Derek's favorite DT song. Take away my pain is very emotional, and
anybody who disses that will have to answer to me. (Yes, I am on a crusade to
piss every jammer off tonight). The old stuff was cool. I liked everything,
nothing disappointed me, although i wanted to hear Derek more, he got a bit
burried. Even with earplugs in, I am deaf, so now you can call me Tommy,
because I can't talk very well, either. Multiple handicaps suck. BTW,
Metropolis was the most awesome song in existence tonight. And I liked all
the Rush they played at the end of the show. The open act was cool, and being
in radio, I have their CD. The place was too crowded, and the pushing was
kind of nuts. I wonder if anybody heard me scream Please don't go. I wonder
if anybody cared. I heard some of you. Skadz, you bum, you didn't introduce
yourself. I know you had to have seen me.

And the asshole who kept yelling out, "Fuck Kevin more" will die if I ever
get my hands on him. Yeah, I think Derek might be a little bitter about being
compared to KM, but in the same respect, we can't discount KM's contribution
to DT. I defend both guys equally. Deek is cool, KM is cool and if you have a
problem, step up so I can put my can up your anal orephus.

anybody know what James was laughing at all night?

and I realize that I actually can sing tonight, even though i have no voice
left from screaming between songs and trying to match James's high notes. I
hit them well enough, but I don't know how they sounded tonally, and I did
some temporary damage to myself. Oh well, I am now going to go to bed.
Pleasant dreams all, and don't hate me too much. DT rules forever.

Just a quick note about Ivanhoe. I recently traded a DT cd bootleg of mine
for an Ivanhoe cd. I am very pleased with Ivanhoe and here is my take on
it. In MY opinion, if you take Images & Words and Awake, and stick them in
a blender and mix them together, you have Ivanhoe. With a little edge on
Awake since Ivanhoe's guitars are very crunchy yet the whole band is very
melodic. Vocals are very good as well.
So if you folks who haven't heard Ivanhoe like I&W and Awake, you can't go
    wrong with this cd!

Wow. The show kicked my worthless butt. :) The whole band was awesome and I
think this was the best I have ever heard James' voice. DT went on early and
played their set with time to spare.

Jammers: I saw a couple of you (Pellaz, Syrinx, Wisha, Augie) while standing in
line outside. I yelled to you but I guess you didn't hear me (or were ignoring
    me. :D )

Birch Hill: Or should I call it Birch Chill. Now I know how they got everyone
crammed in there this time without the fire marshall going ballistic. They
opened the "outdoor patio". In December. Come on, BH, did'ja have to leave BOTH
doors open? Again, we were in there like sardines. It is nice to see DT really
    pack a place though... :)

I got my fix for '96.

Providence rocked, but the only reason I sent this is so I can be in
Ytsejam #2112. I hope it worked. Later.....

    >I've said it a billion times and I'll say it again, get some damn earplugs. >People worry about wearing them, think that if they're not manly or >something if they do, but that's just plain stupid. I'd have to personally disagree in this case. I wear earplugs regularly to shows, and I was wearing them at the beginning of this one. About 4 songs in, I took them out because the high end (mostly JP's lead stuff) was lost in a muddle. The difference was striking. Frankly, I just decided that the loudness (and it *was* a little too loud) was something I'd just have to deal with if I wanted to be able to hear everything clearly.

    >Has anyone thought to ask the guys what song they think would be the first >single from the new CD ? That'd be interesting to hear what they would >like to be the single at this point.

I'd have to guess that they'd want to actually *record* some of the material before they worry about those kind of decisions. Of course, I could be wrong. :)

And maybe I'll get on #2112...or not.
