Hey, Bafu. Keyboard players slow? Well, buddy, let me tell you something.
You're just jealous. All you guitar players are. Because overall, keyboard
players are better musicians. Yeah, there are your exceptional guitarists
like Vai and JP, but for the most part, guitarists can learn three power
chords and become millionaires. Hey, look at Nirvana. Power chord central.
But try to get a keyboardist to play power chords. Sounds crappy. We're
forced to be good because keyboardists can't fake it. You guitarists can fake
it better than women can. Therefore, you're losers.

Flame away if you must, but the keyboard bashing will come to an end today. I
    am bdeclaring war.

Ok, by this point it's too late to get an order in for Christmas, and I
just found out that I'm moving to a new room (I got my single!) next
semester. Now, I trust Campus Mail Service to forward my old mail to the
right address like my Jewish neighbors trust Hitler to babysit their
children, so please don't send in any orders to the old (537) address. I
will post my new address here when I get back and settled in (about the
middle of January) and you can send orders there, but for the time being
no more orders will be filled until the end of January. If you sent an
order in already, don't worry about it, I should get it. Remember that
your checks won't be cashed until just before your shirt goes out, so
    don't worry about getting screwed.

There probably won't be an update for quite some time (I hate finals), but
just hang tight and everything should be back inline early next year...
    Thanks... Later all...

Heheh... I have 3 words for that picture...

    Run! Forrest! Run!

I could just picture little kevvy wunning across the field in his

Can't say much though, my drummer Matt shaved his head and looks alot
like the Gumpster now, too, and he still rokz nadz on the drums and
    likes DT.

You guys suck. I hope I get mine soon, I sent off for it
pre-Thanksgiving. :) I'm either expecting John Myung to pop out of
the box, or at least a box of DT condoms. :P This'd better be good.

    >Also there may be a separate one in Anaheim with Eddie Van Halen

Bah! Fuck him. He probably gets paid for this shit. I'd go see the
Steve Vai and Joe Satch one though is I could. Eddie's great but this
latest contraversy in the band leaves me wondering if he's the greedy
bastard or whether or not Sammy and Dave were. Next...

Damon! You're my hero! (I play guitars, too, though, but i can see
you're point) Keyboard players get bashed alot for being wussy.
just the mention of a keyboard player brings "wussy" whoughts into
people's minds about a band. All I can say is that when I go into a
place and start playing people look at me funny. A pissed off
looking, cussing, long-haired dude playing piano is an unexpected
phenomenon around here. It's kinda kewl. :)

I have my Birch Hill ticket right next to me and on it, it clearly says
"All Ages/21 to drink". So, I really think anyone under 18 should stop
worrying. It shouldn't be a problem at this conert.

I posted about this yesterday and didn't get a response, so trying again.
I would really appreciate it if someone could either drive me to Birch Hill
or would want to come along with me there. I'm from Long Island and would
pick up anyone from the area if needed and/or would really appreciate if
someone can pick me up. The 2-3 hour trip is just too long of one to make
by myself! I need some company! :)

DISCLAIMER: Not a flame. All the rips are meant in good fun. :)

At 08:32 PM 12/10/96 -0800, you wrote: >Hey, Bafu. Keyboard players slow? Well, buddy, let me tell you something. >You're just jealous. All you guitar players are.

Hey, that's a little harsh there, don't you think? To say that ALL guitar players are jealous of pianists (have a field day w/ this one, Bafu ;)) is truly asinine. Did you mean it that way? I, myself, strive to be a good guitarist and I try to remain disciplined about it. I could give a fuck how "fast" a keyboardist plays.

    >Because overall, keyboard players are better musicians. Yeah, there are your >exceptional guitarists >like Vai and JP, but for the most part, guitarists can learn three power >chords and become millionaires.

No. Not for the mostpart. Three-chord rock is what's popular now, but that doesn't mean that "most" guitarists play only three-chord rock. I've actually found them to be in quite a minority. Besides, do you really consider bands like Green Day, Nirvana, PUSA, or Bush to really have guitarists? I don't. Those guys aren't musicians. They suck IMHO. I don't even classify them as guitarists. I could play that shit a week after I started learning to play.

Now can you say that Elton John is better than Marty Friedman? How about Derek Sherinian being better than Gary Hoey? John Tesh being better than James Hetfield? Billy Joel better than Stevie Ray Vaughn? Of course not. Each plays a different style of music than the other and each is excellent in their own right (except for Tesh--he's an alien, you know ;)~ ).

    >Hey, look at Nirvana. Power chord central.

Hey, look at Dream Theater. Unless you can play everything that Petrucci can play, note for note, go home and keep playing with yourself while saying lightly, "All guitarists suck, all guitarists suck." ;)~

    >But try to get a keyboardist to play power chords. Sounds crappy.

Maybe that's just you. Sounds good when a **real** keyboardist plays it.

    >We're >forced to be good because keyboardists can't fake it. You guitarists can fake >it better than women can.

Don't know about that. No woman's ever had to fake it w/ me. Once again, this is a problem pertaining only to you.

    >Therefore, you're losers.

Don't assume what you don't know. For all you know, I could be a nuclear physicist making $10,000,000 a year, perfectly healthy, great family, and close to God. Remember, when you ASSUME, you make an ASS out of U and ME.

    >...the keyboard bashing will come to an end today.

Not if you're Trent Reznor. All he does is "bash" away at the keyboard. (No NIN flame war, please. I've had one too many of those.)

    >I am bdeclaring war.

Why are you "bdeclaring" war? On the same topic, what is "bdeclaring" anyway, hmm?

Aren't we all in music for similar reasons? It's an art form to a real musician, plain and simple. If you don't like someone else's art, "Don't buy it, don't hear it, don't read it. And don't say yout opinion's right (you fucking whores)" By stereotyping other people and bashing them you just come across sounding dorky IMHfukin'O. But hey, that's all a part of LEARNING TO LIVE, right?

I don't send this sig file often because it's pretty big, but this is the perfect time for it...

    Hiyis

Last night, i was listening to Counterparts (by Rush, natch) and when i finished, i turned my stereo off. It has a little digital display that shows the time when the stereo is turned off (the rest of the time it shows the timer for the cds) and what did it show but 21:12!

I thought it was pretty cool, having just listened to Rush and all...

Ah well, guess you had to be there... the first thing i thought was, "Gotta post this to the jam!"

    The 'Aha!' bit:

I'm not a member of the Fan Club, but I've guessed what the pressie is:

    SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!

    *ahem*

    The pressie is...

    The new album!

Yep, the band are releasing it just to fan club members, and the rest of us have to wait until early summer for it (well, it's early summer in Australia already, so I'm keeping an eye out for it).

You fan club members sure are lucky...

Well, it would make a cool present anyway...

    Just ignore me...

Hi, Someone was recently mentioning Tangerine Dream a while ago. If i'm right, they did the sountrack for "Risky Business". I remember the music was real cool.

    Cheers, Dave King

What? Too much valid DT info lately?

Oh, hell. Quit that already! Is someone going to open his verbal chest (like in a treasure chest, wiseasses) and tell us what's in the package... I know I'm gonna kick my arse from here to eternity once I know it, but nevertheless...

Yup, they're Swedes all right. Heads or Tales is the closest DT emulation I've heard this far. Even closer to DT's style than Ivanhoe on their best moments. Definitely worth checking out. Everyone's not going to like the vocalist, though...

    >fave song of under a minute in length?

That would be Nuclear Assault's "Art" off "Something Wicked". S.O.D.'s "Ballad of Jimi Hendrix" in distasteful enough to be humorous, too. :)

True. I, for one would surely buy one. Pat Griffin, any interest in this? Any of the other jammers who know how to organize things?

Grim88 (Ryan Beall) told us about the DTIFC surprise: >OK, I know what it is, and I didn't get one. Is there any way to still get >it? If I signed up this week would I get it? I want one....

Dangit! YOU will tell me what it is, won't you? If you don't, my pet will make you a soprano! Ask any Finnish mailman about this...

So, Superior's had airplay in Finland and Australia. Any others? Bernd, will there be a Superior video in the works anytime soon? I'm not talking about a full feature home video, but one for MTV/VIVA etc.? It'd be a blast to see a Superior clip on MTV...

D-Man's havin a "Fave CD of '96" Poll. VOTE, dammit! I think I'm off to do just that. Cya.
