    ....but I love the Crowes' keyboardist (Eddie some-thing). I really dig
    Hammond organs, and he is one of the best Hammond players I've heard.
    Perhaps not technically....

    Keith Emerson, IMO, is among the very BEST on the Hammond (C3/B3, L100).
    He's been at it for a long, long, long time.

    More jazz artists to recommend:

            Jean-Luc Ponty -among the best on the electric/acoustic violin, and then
    there's Vanessa Mae, although she may be harder to classify...

            Billy Cobham -drummer/percussionist extraordinaire

            John McLaughlin -guitarist extraordinaire -some of the fastest fingers
    -jazz,rock, acoustic, whatever

            The guitarist for Special FX is pretty good, although I don't recall his
    name at present.

    Thanks also to the person who recommended World of Silence *Window of
    Heaven*, although I would classify them more like Lemur Voice than Shadow
    Gallery-no flames, just IMO.

    In the CD: World of Silence *Window of Heaven*; Savatage *Handful of Rain*;
    Fates Warning *Perfect Symmetry* (KM on keys); Lemur Voice *Insights*

    Hey, gang. I just got this message from an Italian fan who, as far as I
    can tell, isn't on the Jam. But I guess this would be cool for you
    southern Europeans to check out. I haven't looked at it yet, but I guess
    we should take a look and see how cool it is, or something.

    I don't make the news, I just report it. :)

            So, I'm up at 3:30 on Sat night, and I get Jam 2110. I think to
    myself, hmm... get up at 11, and 2111 will be in my Box, and I can send
    something and get it into 2112. HELL NO! I wake up at 11:30 and 2111 AND
    2112 is in my box. Ahhhhh well.
            Wacky, I'm there for Birch Hell next time. Looking forward to it.
    Even if I have to ride in the back of Parmet's pickup.
            Oh, and the real reason I posted. Some lyrics to Take Away my
    Pain. Still need more... anyone remember any? Or were ya too busy
    fighting off crowd surfers like I was. :)

    Opening Verse:
    He was sitting at the edge of his bed
    staring at the headlines in paper
    He said "Look at poor Gene Kelly
    I guess he won't be singing in the rain"
    You took away all my heroes
    Can you take away my pain.

    Last verse:

    I'm sitting at the edge of my bed,
    Staring at the headlines in paper,
    Let's say goodbye to Jesus
    the world he left won't ever be the same.
    You Took Away My hero,
    Now Take Away My Pain.

            Looking for a second verse if you have one...

                                    -jeremy

    PS Got Savatage 'Dead Winter Dead' AND TSO this weekend. WHOA! I like
    this stuff. Can any 'Tage lovers send me a discography(or a ref to one)
    and what it sounds like compared to DWD?
            TSO is cool too... never thought I'd EVER buy a flippin Christmas album.

    No shit! My dad listens to elevator music in the car, and my mother's ears are so sensitive that music in the car has to be practically inaudible, or else she goes NUTZ! Ever try to listen to Exit Stage Left with the volume set to 1? ARGH!

    Man, that's too bad. I got one of their tapes from Jay Peele himself at Birch Hill '95 (actually, at the Fanta-seeya diner). Good stuff. Hey, is Jay still here? You know any keyboard players that are moving to Burlington, VT anytime soon? :)

    Dude, that's the truth if you live in Burlington. There are at *least* three different street musicians that play those damned things! I'd love to see them jam together someday. :)

    the stick does not rest on the ground... you must not have looked at the picture. it rests on a belt hook, slightly right of center, and is played in a primarily upright position. look at the damn page

    Well, I am back from a week in St. Maartin (it sucks to be back at work). Well I got home and in the mail was this cd shaped package from the DT fan club. I was like the surprise is here! Every thing is great except I dont care for Barney's singing at all-ugh!!!!! Oh yeah and I have just caught up on 37 jams and here are my musings from them:

    Partha wrote: >second things second.......got the POWER OF OMENS demo tape in the mail >recently, pretty good stuff......they got the DT/FW vibe going, with a >geoff tatish vocalist......at times they seem to be trying a little bit >too hard, and the lyrics don't impress on paper, but its enjoyable music >nevertheless.....

    I got this demo as well from this Texas prog metal band. The volcalist is a great singer and is indeed a Tate clone from the early QR days. Musically they are excellent as well...

    ===

    About end of year polls: Are there any polls that have a list of all the 1996 releases? I buy so many cds that I can't remember what came out in 96 or some other year....

    ===

    Superior: If you haven't gotten this cd then you are missing out on the best cd since Images and Words...

    ===

    Randal Braun wrote: >IMHO, KISS didn't /doesn't have much talent in the first place, so what >does it matter if they shaved their genital regions? Like Beakis & Buttface >meet Boozo....... KISS, my A....

    I suppose that is your opinion and I think you are way WRONG. Sure the makeup and effects are a major part of the act. The music is enjoyable. Great party music. I mean if all they had was the makeup and effects then they might have only lasted 1 or two albums since that gets old, but they didn't they had the music and that is what makes a band survive the test of time. Where would rock and metal be today without KISS?????? KISS rules...

    ===

    About Metal Blade: I like and dislike this company. I mean they promote big time some bands like Galactic Cowboys and ignore bands like Fates Warning. Both bands are great and both should have some decent promotion!

    ===

    About hotmail: It is basically email that you can access from anywhere if you are on the net. I guess it is good for people who move around quite often to always have a single email address. You just need to be ont he web to access it.

    Damn it! And I paid those two good money too and they can't get the job done! :)

    I took the GRE's way back in 1991 (boy am I getting old) and they SUCKED. I still have nightmares about them... And to top it off. The grad school (Johns Hopkins) that I went to didn't require GRE's...

    I see that Damon is back... 50 posts a jam... :P I am not complaining, just making an observation...

    Hey all! What a show. I was right behind the sound board and couldn't have found a better spot. All the people around me were cool (a couple of ytse-jammers). I wasn't pushed once that night and I could see everything. Although I had to sway from one side to another to see around the soundman's body. I have to say that they were perfect. In fact the sound was as close to perfection too. I little more keys would have made it 100%. Besides that it was great to see them all have fun (well JM was off in his 'other world' but I'm sure he had fun too). I was glad to hear the guys add bits and pieces to older songs. Especialy CIANITG. Boy that was SURE DIFFERENT, but cool. The new songs kicked ASS! Some else did notice that White Zombie sound too. Although it didn't last. I really liked the intro to Lines in the Sand. I think we're in for one hell'uv an album. Can't wait!

    BTW I'm about 99.9561823% sure that it was Another Hand that was played and not Learning to Live ('cause I have both in front of me and boy it sure sounds the same as LATM).

    Like to say hi to all the jammers at TGIF, I was the guy that came in at 8 with the bright orange jacket and looking for Dan from Temple (sorry Dan, couldn't fing you and my frineds were anxiuos to wait in line, I hope you sold your tix). Hope to see you guys again some day, I would have liked to sat down and BS'd with you.

    I was able to snag the sound board's copy of the set list...ahhh another DT memorabilia!!!! See ya'll later Bruce D. PS: Just got the IME Scenery and Fish and wondering if anyone has found any of the hidden things?

    Just some comments about the show and the Jammers.... :)

    The show was abso-fuckin-lutely incredible, FAR better than the show last Xmas and well-worth the 14+ hour drive, mostly in rain, up to see it. Someone asked what the farthest DRIVING distance was for Jammers; as far as I know, THAT award goes to Mark "BigSwifty" Peters, who drove up from extreme southern Alabama. (On the way he stopped in Atlanta and picked up Wes "Beavis" Foll and myself.)

    The floor seemed a little less manic than last year. This time we staked out a spot a bit behind the first little railing (floor slightly raised) and we had a pretty good view, verging to excellent toward the end of the show when some of the wimps in front gave up and retired toward the back :). (I grin because I was one of those wimps last year. :))

    Overall, I was delighted that I could watch DT without too much worry of not being able to breathe, or getting dragged around off my feet by the surging crowd.

    IMHo, the show was loud but not too excessive -- the band sounded pretty crisp over the PA to us. Didn't mind Einstein too much, but I'd rather have seen Rudess/Morg. Oh, well, no biggie. :)

    Damon, if you were there you were within a few feet of me and we never spotted you. After the show we were all gathered on the floor and I asked around "has anyone seen Damon with his cane?" Damnit, we need Ytsejam laminates on chains with our names on them. Who wants to make 'em? :)

    Al B., I knew who you were immediately; whaddaya mean I didn't recognize you? "Hey kids, look, it's Al Balkiewicz!" is what I yelled, the moment I saw you. :) You weren't Half Naked -again-. Come on dude, this is two shows in a row. :) (Now watch, DT will tour in the summer and Al will show up in a Rocky outfit from RHPS. :))

    Hi to all the jammers I met and/or saw again; I won't do a list because I'll diss someone in my forgetfulness and I don't wanna. Just a few standouts: George, it was great to meet you, but where did you go? You kinda vanished after the show and, well, we kinda got to meet the band sans The Silent Myung. Ah, well.... Heather, great to met you and THANKS for the road-goodies! And for Skadz: "Rahhh!" :)

    Post-show band comments to follow.
