    Hello Jammers,

I just wanted to set the record straight about Inferno. Jay Peele just
finished moving and is getting ready to work on some new music. He
doesn't know whether the band will be called Inferno or not, but new
material is forthcoming. He is going to keep me up to date.

BTW I am the guy who runs the official Inferno site. The URL is in my
.sig. For those who know nothing of Inferno, they are a band that has a
CD called _Psychic Distance_ out on MAssacre Records in Germany, and they
have a demo tape called _Architect_. The music is heavy with obvious
influences of Rush, Metallica, and Dream Theater. They opened for Dream
    Theater on the I&W tour.

The WWW page has some interviews, sound files, discography, and photos.
Plus e-mail addresses for a couple of the band members. Jay might still
have some copies of Architect available, e-mail him and inquire. I can
provide the address, or check out the page, it is on there. For those of
you interested in Olin's page, it is a satire of the band, take it with
several grains of salt. I seem to think it makes Jay sound like Roger
Waters or something. Not very realistic.

    Later,

    Mike

Yes it is true as the subject line states I can make you a copy of
Acoustic Dreams on CD. Now I say again that this is a COPY and it is not an
original from some secret stock pile. :^)
I have received permission from Mike to do this and my intent is not to
compete with him. I am doing this because I realize that there are a number
of Jammers that missed out on Acoustic Dreams and I would like to help.

For times like these, when our dedicated Skadz-operated IRC server at
    irc.dreamt.org port 2112 is down, we've been using irc.rocknet.com
(use the default port, 6667 I think) as a backup. This is apparently
an open-client IRC server not connected to any others, much like ours,
which is used only rarely for online musician interviews, etc. At
othner times the owners leave it up, and we can use it if we don't
    abuse it.

Of course, since Skadz doesn't run it there will be no Skadzbot on
there to hold channel #ytsejam open (like there usually is on
dreamt.org), so if you enter and don't find channel #ytsejam, just
join the channel anyway: you'll create it and it will stay as long as
    -someone- is in there. :)

My dad is really into Dream Theater too. Actually, my dad is the person who really got me into the kind of music I listen to. I grew up listening to The Yes Album, Fragile, ELP's Trilogy, Tarkus, King Crimson's In The Court of The Crimson King, etc. When I first "re-heard" South Side of the Sky, for instance, from Yes' Fragile, I was shocked when I knew all of the words! Anyway, my dad has been to every DT show that I've been to (3). He even waited out in the freezing cold with me at the El N Gee show in New London, CT last year. It's really cool... my dad gets me into certain things and I get him into others. My dad is amazed sometimes, like when I finally found the Chris Squire solo album on CD, and he had never heard it! Or when I find a Yes bootleg, or whatever. Sorry for rambling....I just thought I'd put in my $.02 about cool dads.

Man, what an eventful last couple of weeks it has been for us Ytsejammers! I myself got to see DT twice, at Mulchay's of Wantagh and at Birch Hill. All that I can say is that both concerts totally kicked ass! The first show wasn't that special to me though becuase there were few ytsejammers there that I knew. It was like only Rachel (wisha), who just happneeds to crash at my place that night. Why she did, don't worry that was a long story, but no, for all you sick in mind we did nothing :) DT kicked ass that night...On the other hand, Birch Hill totally kicked ass, not only becuase DT totally ruled and Einstein was a notch better at BH than at Mulchay's, but also becuase it seemed like the world knew me there! I'm serious, it seemed like half the entire place knew me there which was like amazing!!... I just want to throw a quick shot out to that dude that I was talking to right before DT came on in BH that knew Elliott Kim. Anyway, I don't know if you knew the dudes around you, but all that I can say is that all of them were complete losers and I almost got into a fight with one of them. But if anyone of them are reading this, I just gotta tell you that I won, not you guys! I got my ass up to the front! :) Anyway, all that I can say is that all in all, I had a total blast at both concert. I certainly loved their new stuff as well. The song that moved and touched me the most is Take Away My Pain. Man, when I heard that song, it almost brought a tear to my eye. I'm sorry boyz, but that song alone with make it impossible for us DT diehards to be able to see them from 10 feet away again because yeah, I have to say this but that song will not only make them big, but it will make them HUGE! I'm telling you all, it is one of the greatest songs that I've ever heard in my life and i thought The Silent Man was powerful.

Anyway, I've had enough of this useless rambling, so I'm going to run. But right before I go, I just have to tell you guys that as I'm ending this message, the radio station that I'm listen to 102.3 WBAB is playing Tom Sawyer by Rush of course!!! Yes that's the same station that sponsed the DT concert at Mulcahy's here on Long Island.

    later...

    Hello folks,

I have a little question about a particular bootleg. The title is "Rockin Japan" and it's on Razor Edge records (I think). Now, supposedly the date of the show is January 27, 1995, but I don't see that date on the Master Tour List (located on the DT web site). Anybody know the deal with this boot, and what the sound quality is? I don't even see this boot listed on Mike Burstin's very informative Bootleg Discography page, nor on Ed Polzin's lovely bootleg page. What gives?

    Now Playing: Pangea, self-titled.

    Hiyis

Some things to say, I've been a bit quiet lately (I'm sure you *all* noticed) apart from my gratuitous appearance in 2112.

    1. *Far* too many things about the DT gigs - how about a bit of respect for us Australian jammers? I know we probably won't ever get to see them, but no need to tell us what we're missing out on... Rush was bad enough...

    2. I saw Poison in '89 (my first concert) and CC didn't go down too well during his solo. Lots of people sat down, bored, CC made a lot of mistakes, just being stupid (I can't remember exactly what he was doing, but it didn't leave much of an impression on me) and one guy behind me shouted, 'SHIT A BRICK!!'

    3. As ever so briefly mentioned in 2112, my cds from CDnow arrived last Thursday. They were:

TSO - Christmas Eve... King Crimson - Thrak Fates Warning - Perfect Symmetry Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King & Gutter Ballet

TSO is cool, I've only listened to King Crimson once so far, but it's pretty cool, FW will have to grow on me (my first FW cd), Hall of the Mountain King was pretty good but Gutter Ballet blew me away. Brilliant!

Then I decided to listen to Streets again. This is now probably my favourite album of all time. I love it. Savatage are now in my top 3 bands. Jon Oliva is a 'kin legend!

    *ahem*

    4. Did anyone ask DT at any of the gigs if they're coming to Oz (I asked a couple of you...)

    Didn't think so :-\

    Ah well...

    5. The FC pressie:

I was actually thinking, 'Maybe they'll give a recording of the Uncovered gig to the members' but i thought this for about 2 seconds before thinking, 'Nah...'

    6. I'm going to 3 gigs in February! Pretty good, seeing as I've only ever been to 3, and the last one was in 93 (U2 in Brisbane, the 250th show of the tour, incidentally).

I'm seeing KISS, Steve Vai and (don't laugh) Charley Pride. Should be good!

(if anyone doesn't know who Charley Pride is, he's this great country music singer - been listening to him since i was a wee lad.)

    7. I'm getting ready for my first 21-12, this Saturday... Continuous Rush all day, until Carve Away the Stone finishes! Wahoo!

What else was there? I think that was it...

Well, see yis on IRC on the weekend, perhaps!
