Someone was taping the show, this guy also had a camera. They took his
camera but never took his tape recorder. Syrinx I know you saw this too.
Anyone with info send it my way. Because after dropping 15 bucks on
postage and tapes for Brian Cox I know I'm never going to get last year's
show. And no I don't feel sorry for him.

Track 20----> The big mystery however remains in the door knocking.
Belive me I have worked on it with number patterns and stuff. The bible
might help me now, thanks. I have e-mailed prophet about it a couple
times. Not to willing to reveal the secret.

As Brian Cox pointed out earlier, it was brought up that DT did in fact
play a bit of Rush material at the end of the show. Could someone who went
please verify this, as well as mention what Rush songs in part were played,
    if at all?

    Thanks so much...

Welcome to the NY/NJ metro. area folx.....If you have a good spot,
no matter who you are, it won't be a good spot for long. Either
someone gets in front of you, or you get pushed indirectly
somewhere else, or you get knocked in the head and don't see
anything but cute stars and little birdies.....another thing, I
would not have gone out of the way to mess with people there, cuz
of the fact that no one was frisked going in and who the hell
knows what can go on...i've seen many knives in places like that,
and with that big a crowd.....its not worth it....
One advantage to being shorter than most, you can yank tall people
that are in front of you, hide behind another tall guy, and let
them take care of themselves - then two spots open up right in
            front of you! :P

Okay, I figure it's time to actually justify all this Damon vs. Bafu bullshit. I mean, you can only believe in dragons for so long before someone comes along and points out that there are no dragons. Now watch closely. I'm actually going to "flame" Damon a few times here and give you guys a REASON to say "Damon and Bafu keep flaming each other."

---- > From: "Damon M. Fibraio" <s0067977@hawkmail.monmouth.edu> > Subject: Re: Nickel vs. Ivory > > Once again, I am responding to a Bafu Vai post. God, wah's wrong wit me?

That's why I only reply to Damon posts. Make me feel much more intelligent than replying to that Barfu freak.

    > Bafu, what about classical guitar? Don't classical guitarists spend > their days learning already written material?

Classical guitarists know all seven modes, plus the two Extra Classical Modes that, outside of classical guitarists, only David Copperfield knows.

    > But look at all the substandard people who are idolized by guitarists. > The guy from Bonjovi, for a while when Bonjovi was king, (bleh). Sorry, > guys, he's not all that. Flame me if you want, Bonjovi fans, but the guy > just writes cheesey love balads.

Hey Damon, try asking a guitarist what there is to idolize about Richie Sambora. But if you truly hate to ask questions to enlighten yourself, which seems to be the case most of the time, I can't help you. That wall of assumptions will have to suffice.

    > Put him next to Vai, and he will be burried.

Put Vai next to B.B. King in B.B. King's element, and Vai will be buried. Guess that means Vai is inferior. Or maybe there are other mediums of music to explore before you say stuff like this. Such as Bon Jovi.

---- > From: "Damon M. Fibraio" <s0067977@hawkmail.monmouth.edu> > Subject: Re: Damon, The Surprise, Asswipe IQ

I need to reply to this stuff a bit faster to remain "relevant" and "cool," otherwise I'll just be "out of it" and "old hat."

    > Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me? Who's sinking to my level. I happen to think I > am on a very high level of discussion.

Damon, what you type isn't discussion. "Discussion" implies more than one source of ideas. These ideas are then relayed to other sources of ideas, occasionally with the intent to reach an agreement or conclusion. People do this an awful lot when they communicate. They "discuss" things. Your style of communication is often closer to the word "rape."

    > Pardon me for having a tough period in my life. Pardon me for losing my > cool briefly. I'm sorry that I can't be as cool as you, Bafu. Please > forgive me.

If you can't uphold the standard, make a new standard. Rise.

    > Please, don't come over here with your $400 guitar and force me to > listen to your overdriven, power-chord playing riffs.

I don't own a $400 guitar. (just like I don't own a thesaurus, but that's another ish-yew) I'd be surprised if I could get $200 for this bird of prey. And stop acting like I have "riffs" or something. I don't.

    > Please, oh please. I didn't mean it, I swear. I mean, I'm sorry that you > asshole rock musician guitar types won't let me into your bands so that > I can make a little money, too. I'm sorry that because of this, I have > to sit home on the Internet all night when my girlfriend is on duty > babysitting freshmen college students who can;'t wipe their own ass > without mom around, (only at Monmouth does this happen).

Now you're equating me with an image you created in your own mind. I guess that's useful if you need inspiration to hate me...other than the obvious reason that I'm also an asshole WITHOUT my guitar... We all need our outlets, we all need to vent. I feel your pain, you asshole rock musician keyboard type.

    > I'm sorry, please forgive me, Bafu. I concede defeat. I bow to the > master. You are of a higher intelligence than I could ever be. Only > you can flame with such grace and maturity.

The ability to flame with grace is hardly a reason to call someone intelligent. How do you know that person isn't just sitting there consulting a thesaurus?

    > I am a lowly asswipe. Nobody should even pay attention to the dogshit I > send through cyberspace. I should just be unsubscribed from Ytsejam > without my own consent. I am such a lowly human being.

Ever heard of Stuart Smalley? He wrote a book. You should read it.

    > Here's proof, my under-developed retinas. Hey, I am so lowly, my eyes > refuse to work.

vYou mean you're BLIND? And that makes you feel INFERIOR? Then you ARE inferior. Because you SAY you are inferior. Hate yourself elsewhere, rook. There's far too much love on this mailing list for that stuff.

    > Geez, I am sorry, Bafuvai. I didn't mean to enrage you so. Please, if > you must take my life, leave my family alone.

Damon, choose a personality and stick with it. Be yourself. Half the time you react to things with incredible volatility, half the time you're carefree and lighthearted like the dulcid willow tree.

Now what's this about the guitar versus the keyboard or something?

I didn't hear any Rush riffs at the BH show.

Didn't the band say that they would be going on late in order to accommodate fans who went to the Long Island Rush concert? I hope no one tried this because Rush was probably still playing when DT took the stage.

i did. it was funny, 'cause the guy next to me said to the dood taping "hey, the bouncer's coming" but for at least another minute he kept it out. sure enough, the bouncer was there. the guy almost got thrown out. hey talked it down to "i'll give you the tape" or "i'll give you the recorder", but either way the man lost something.

there wasn't any. there was a nice metallica riff (and a king crimson riff or two, but wasn't dream theater playing it).

You complain about the complexity and confusionity of such abbreviations as CiaW, ACoS, WDADU, etc. Well, I think we all owe an apology to the poor Type O Negative fans out there. Look what they have to suffer. They have a song with the abbreviation: TGLotPTRoBbtCFotUToE. Now that's fucking long! (I won't say the whole thing because you can check out October Rust instead)

On to DT. I'd just like to state something that people might have forgotten. The new cd was supposed to come out next month! That's right, in that month that starts in a matter of weeks. I suppose those east-coasters or fan-club members are pleased, but for someone who is neither, it really, really sucks. The date is now summer, but who says that can't be pushed back? I wish they would just start recording it already. (Unless there is something real important going on otherwise) But I don't get the feeling there is. I would prefer if they realeased a 30 minute cd every year than a 120 minute every 5 years. Maybe that's just me. I also find it strange how long it's been since I made a DT purchase. I have bought 7 Marillion cd's since my last DT cd! And the new 'rillion is coming out in April I think. If it wasn't for the 20 ytsejams in the mail per day and the #ytsejam, I would have forgotten about them. COme on guys!

    >The song that moved and touched me the most is Take Away My Pain. Man, when I heard that song, it almost brought a tear to my eye. I'm sorry boyz, but that song alone with make it impossible for us DT diehards to be able to see them from 10 feet away again because yeah, I have to say this but that song will not only make them big, but it will make them HUGE! I'm telling you all, it is one of the greatest songs that I've ever heard in my life and i thought The Silent Man was powerful.

I hope it doesn't sound too close to TSM; I really don't like that song. I do love TLF though. (Or is that Another Hand...). Most likely, DT will get flak for "selling out" though probably from people who don't like the band already.

Yeah, Mars Attacks! was cool. It wasn't quite as funny as I thought it would be; the humor was both obvious and subtile in many places. Any scene with Rod Steiger was hilarious though. At least they didn't kill off Natalie Portman--- she's such a babe and she's a brilliant actress though her part in this movie wasn't much to work with.

This absolutely sucks horse dong! You can rationalize it all you want, but DT is most likely NOT going to release the uncovered gig! Think about it: they've got a _regular_ studio release coming up (which, according to some of the rumours floating around, could even be a 2-CD deal), which tremendously lowers the chances that we're going to see a Ronnie Scotts release, at least for another year... perhaps forever. This is one of those things that will remain in the band's vaults until they disband.

I can see it now - if we're lucky, we're going to get little bits and pieces of this gig on b-sides or whatever. ya-freekin'-hoo. Sorry to rant on about this, as I'm sure it's out of Mike's control, but this had the potential to the best CD he's put out. I knew it was too good to be true.

Now THIS is fucked up even by my standards. :)

It must be something in the city water Greg. ;)

    >it's not that i say "everyone must get stoned". OF COURSE you don't HAVE= to >(people like d-man and bafu have proven that to me), but i don't think >treating the stoners like nazi war criminals is any more useful.

I'd have to agree with you here on both counts. Over the course of my 32.5 years of "out of the womb" experiences, I've experimented with more than a few drugs, with the exception of heroin and coke. Drugs were never an accepted part of my generation, but there appears to be a rabid "If you do drugs you're a LOSER" mentality that I am frequently exposed to which annoys me interminably. If someone wants to experiment with a little mind bending, live and let live. It isn't hurting YOU and it is definitely none of your business, unless he ODs, drops to the floor in respiratory arrest and proceeds to projectile spray phlegm onto your clothing. That COULD be construed as a bitch. ;) I can definitely tell you, that I have never been to a show where the guy who smoked the dime bag of Columbian puked all over the washroom. Now, the guys who drank five different alcohols, all in the same evening and decided that moshing the contents of their stomach together was a prudent idea is a MUCH different story. In general, I find people who are EXTREMELY drunk to be excessively loud, annoying, devoid of cognitive ability, devoid of speech ability, possessed of bad breath, capable of belching at highly inappropriate times and an embarrassment to be anywhere near. Nothing bothers me more than going home to the small city I grew up in, walking into an old stomping ground and getting mauled by some pathetically drunken fuck who I knew in high school. The people who are high will usually only ask you one question: Which way to the fridge? In a completely unrelated story.... Recently, I picked up Symphony X's The Damnation Game (TDG). I LOVE this disc. The vocals are excellent and remind me very much of a cross between Ray Alder and Tony Martin/Dio. The guitar playing has definite neo-classical underpinnings, but this is not another Yngwie knock off. This record has real songs, with interesting lyrics and great playing. Those of you interested in hearing a touch of this should take a peak at the Zero Corporation web site. The label is devoted to melodic/progressive/shred oriented metal. The URL is www.pineapple.co.jp/MVP. If any of you have their first self-titled disc I'd love to hear about. Better yet, if any of you want to sell it or their most recent release, get in touch with me YESTERDAY at my e-mail address, rterry@inforamp.net. Well, that's about all for the moment.

    Cheers,

    Rick Toronto

p.s. It's good to be back. I've missed you guys! :)
