    Jaz drives are cool.

Um .. for some minorly-related content, bought Signals and TSO. Signals is
cool, haven't given TSO a good listen yet.

Say, guys, I need to throw in a good word for Marcel "Carpe Diem CD" Berkhout
here. As far as I know his CD writer is having problems (although, granted,
they are taking a long time to get fixed) and I know for a fact that he at
least never *intended* all this to go terribly wrong. I am quite sure he
intends to ship every single one of them, but I haven't been in touch with him
since I got my "Carpe Diem", somewhere around June or July. The shitty thing is
that he appears to have lost email access, although he told me back then that
he sometimes lurks on the 'Jam using another guy's account.
     Just my 2 Dutch cents.

Two things to mention in connection with Jason Becker. First of all, about a week ago I got contacted by Wim Backhuys, owner of Killer Whale Records. For those who know, he does Blind Justice distribution over here, and Barend Courbois. He is extending the business side of things and will be distributing the new Tony MacAlpine, the new Jennifer Batten (she's in a band now, and I forgot that name) and, yes, Jason's "Perspective" in the Netherlands. He told me he'd visited Jason in October and that he'd gone to the Jason Becker benefit thing in Chicago. Jason can only barely move his tongue these days; Wim said he had to get his mom use a toothpick to get rid of a bit of a Snickers bars that was stuck between this teeth. He 'communicates' through his parents by movements of his fingers and eyes. Wim has plans to do a Jason Becker tribute gig over here in the Netherlands, with Barend Courbois, Jan Akkerman and possibly Cyril Whistler and Adrian Vandenberg, and with more others. None of this has been confirmed yet, it's all tentative, so don't email me for details, all you Dutch 'Jammers. I'll post details when they become available. A percentage of every copy of "Perspective" sold will be donated to a Dutch muscle disease foundation. Good stuff.

On a slightly more trivial note, I had a dream with Jason Becker in it last night. I dreamed I visited his place, only it was some kind of hall where a lot of fans had gathered, waiting for Jason to be wheeled in. All I know is that, in the dream, I cried every time I imagined what Jason'd be like when finally appearing. I woke up before he finally did. That kind of sucked. I can't afford to visit Jason although I'd surely like to, and this dream would at least have been *something*. I always feel like writing him a letter after such dreams - they have happened a few times over the last couple of years, and each time they leave me heavily affected, saddened. But what to write? The Dutch "Aardschok" (biggest metal magazine here) has a page and a half feature article on Jason, largely culled from his "Open Letter" to Guitar magazine, with more recent info supplied by Wim Backhuys. It has a picture of Jason in a wheel chair, held by Eddie van Halen. Tears welled to my eyes when I saw it - Jason so helpless but seemingly happy, and Eddie, well, being cool. This message is too long already, and maybe too soppy.

Maybe all you guys out there should send a X-mas card to Jason at P.O. Box 5109, Richmond, CA 94805, USA. I am sure he'd appreciate it. And for those who have not yet checked out his music, send an SAE to get info on his "Perspective" album, which is a must-have and, I think, the finest album to have been released in over a year.

actually yes.. EVERYONE here in PR listens to country music... also some dutch folk music...j/k!

well.. some of the people here ( lots) listen to american rap.. and also pr- rap..which is like dancehall reggae but in spanish.. and well it sucks.. but theres also A LOT of alternative heads, metal heads, and other people who listen to spanish college rock.. which is cool.. and theres some prog heads too.. theres even a "progressive rock association" ...called "the roundtable".. and its cool..and theres a lot of people in it.. thats one of the reasons we think DT or Rush could play a succesfull gig here.. PPL will go.. hehe you dont have to listen to anything..

well, being that most of you are probably going away and the ytsejam will be less popular, merry christmas, and nappy yew hear, to all those considering themselves ytsejammers and friends. may the holiday be safe, and enjoyable and all that............

while we're off toasting ourselves and getting piss drunk on new year's, do take time to remember those who have passed away that meant dearly to us- friends, family, and musicians we all love and respect. we can't forget kevin gilbert, nor can we forget ella.

and we can't forget mr. becker, who is still alive, and i'm sure needs all the prayers and whatnot we can give him.

Thanks to all who e-mail me their suggestion of FATES WARNING CDs to pick up. I will look for them.

For those who missed my earlier posting, let me recap.

I was browsing thru the local used CD store, when I spotted some FATES WARNING CDs. After hearing some many good things about FW on the 'Jam, I decided to get "Inside Out." I have listened to this over & over again for the last week.

The songs that really stand out are "Outside Looking In," "Monument," "Island In The Stream," and "Pale Fire." Though I must say that EVERY song on this CD is great.

Every time I listen to "Face Of Fear", I can't help but think of the WCW Tag Team THE FACES OF FEAR (Meng & The Barbarian). But the song is great.

Any good WWW Sites for FATES WARNING?

Also, when is a new release expected?

Thanx again to all on the 'Jam, and MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I think you are confused. As far as I know, Marcel Berkhout hasn't written, recorded and toured for an album. I think you got him confused with Marcel Coenen of Lemur Voice, who is in no way related to this CD in any way. BTW, Scott has every right to be pissed about waiting for so long to receive his CD, as well as many other jammers who are still waiting to receive theirs also. Not to mention he hasn't been in contact with the jam for quite some time now. I for one have actually recieved mine, and I can say to all of you thinking about getting one, forget it! The only good thing about this CD is the ten page color booklet, with some good photograaphs. The sound quality is the worst I've heard on any of my bootlegs, which number about 20, and I'm usually not too picky when it comes to quality, its just that you can hardly hear the songs with the stereo cranked up all the way...

In place of filename, put the name of the file you want.

    Basic Rules:

There are some basic rules to the jam which make everyone's reading alot more pleasant. Please try and follow them as closely as possible. I will send out warnings to people who blatantly disobey these. You get one warning, a second offense will get your jam priviledges taken away.

    1. Do not post just for the sake of posting. There is already a lot of valid traffic on this list, we don't need unnecessary posts which are a waste of everyone's time. The basic rule you should all try to follow is to think before you post.

    2. No Top Ten (Five, Twenty, Thirty, etc) lists. These lists are a waste. They take up alot of bandwidth and fill up everyone's mailbox much faster than they would like it filled up. If you want to know everyone's top somethings, please ask for ALL responses to be mailed directly to you. This has been done with the end results posted to the jam and it was very very nice.

    3. Do not start / participate in / complain about long off-topic discussions. These have gotten WAY out of hand in the past. If one starts, I will post once saying to stop and take it to private email, anyone continuing the discussion will recieve a warning. These include such topics as God, NIN, Blind Melon, bands selling out, etc.

    4. Private E-Mail is a wonderful thing. Use it when you think it may be more useful than posting to the jam.

    5. Last, but not least, this is YOUR ytsejam. I am around, and I do administrative work, but I do not say what can/cannot be talked about (most of the time) or moderate in any real way. I am the Ytsejam Administrator more than Moderator. Don't complain if the jam seems to be going downhill, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Basically, that is all the basic info. As always, if you have any problems feel free to mail me. I get ALOT of mail on a daily basis, so it sometimes takes me a while to get back to you, but 99% of the time, I will get back to you eventually.

Thanks for Reading and Enjoy the List!!!
