    Hiyis

I saw a copy of 'Acoustic Live & Rarities', or something to that effect, by
    Queensryche today.

Can anyone tell me what it's like, and if it's worth buying?

It costs $50 Australian, which I suppose is about $30 - $35 US dollars (I
    think... prolly wrong).

    Lemme know by email!

    Thanks

I've been waiting a really long time as well. I sent Mike Bahr the money
months ago after not wanting to mess with international money orders.
Mike is/was collecting money to send to Marcel in one big chunk. Marcel
still has not proof that I paid and said he is expecting something from
Mike soon. Hopefully somewhere I will get my cd... Even though I have
    paid I haven't received a confirmation yet.

Scott I dont know if you paid Marcel directly or through Mike Bahr.

I plan on waiting and hoping I get my cd...

Also I dont think this Marcel is the one in Lemur Voice.

I agree Rush's 'Natural Science' would be a cool cover to do.

    How about these:

      ELP: Tarkus
Yes: On the Silent Wings of Freedom
      Genesis: Fountain of Salmacis
      Metallica: Fade to Black
Led Zeppling: When the Levee Breaks

Okay, by the very definition of the word, you are a suckhole. Because
someone didn't have either the time, the money or the means to join the
fan club by the time the cd was made you hope they don't get one? The CD
is the "Wrong Reason?" You're being a dick. Why is that the wrong
reason? Maybe like many of us, this person felt he was getting enough DT
related info out of the jam and from non spiteful friends, who don't give
a holier than thou bullshit attitude because they shelled out the clams to
join a friggin' fan club. I meant to join, but haven't gotten around to
it. Finals, work, and medical issues have pretty much manipulated my time
for the last few months. Does that make you somehow superior because you
are a member of the club? I'm not upset for missing the Christmas CD,
because I know that I have cool friends who will copy it for me if I want
it. What kind of an asswipe passes judgement on his friends because they
aren't a member of a club? Don't turn my jam into a clique. This isn't
high school, and this isn't church. You're not the pope, the principal or
a member of Dream Theater. I don't need your condemnations.

I was drooling like Homer Simpson after reading that set list! Why can't
radio stations host shows like this! Even on A.M. ... ... at 3 in the

This weekend I was watching a tape of *The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll
Circus* that was recently shown (for the first time in about 18 years) on
VH-1. Anyway, one of the groups that appeared in this 1968 docuvideo was a
very early *Jethro Tull*. IA had a good mass of red hair/beard. The song
they played was *Song for Jeffrey* which was on their first album. The most
interesting item, though, was the guitarist. Martin Barre, the long-time JT
axe-man didn't appear with the band until the second album; a guitarist
named Mick Abrams (or similar I believe) was on album one. The guitarist
that played with JT on the video was left-handed, but I didn't pay much
attention until the credits, when I saw that the guitarist was none other
than *Tony Iommi*, the heart & soul of *Black Sabbath*. I went back and
re-viewed that portion, and sure 'nuf it was him. It was hard to tell since
    he was wearing a wide-brimmed hat with his head tilted forward slightly;
but yes it was him, sporting his trademark black mustache even way back
then. The guitar part was a bit different then you might be used to hearing
TI play: *Song for Jeffrey* is mostly slide guitar.

Now, if I don't post anything else 'til after Christmas, I'll just kick
back, put on *Acoustic Dreams*, listen to *O Holy Night* and ponder the
    real meaning of Christmas.

hmm... the REAL meaning of christmas... you mean its not some jolly fat dude
in a suit running around spoiling rich kids? :) nah.. christmas is more of
a time for humanity... a time to take a break and kick back and appreciate a
little.. people always take things for granite, and thats the way it should
be.. if you appreciated every single thing every single day you'd be too
busy appreciating to experience.. but right now is a time to really look at
what you've got, and theres tons of homeless drives and places to reach out
to and help. helping someone else is one of the coolest experiences, it'll
put a much bigger smile on your face than some 5000 dollar gift, garuanteed
unless you lack some sort of decency :) so, kick back these next few days,
appreciate a bit, have some fun, and get some cool presents ;)

    Hello!
First off: I can't stand Time and Motion and was disappointed
that they chose to play at the show opener in Albany.
Second: I was pleased to see it dropped from the Meadowlands
    show.
            As for DT covering songs:
                    1) Rush - Xanadu
                    2) Yes - Sound Chaser
                    3) Queensryche - Breaking the Silence
                    4) Van Halen - Yeah, right.
                    5) Megadeth - Bad Omen, Hook in Mouth
                    6) Metallica - Disposable Heroes

I chose the first two to give Derek a chance to noodle a bit. But hey,
I'd love to hear covers of just about anything, not to mention the
changed versions of their own songs, i.e. Caught in a Web at BH.

Metallica shouldn't be discussed on the ytsejam. They are a poor example of
what music has become today. I am not impressed what so ever with anything
that Metallica has put out therefore, because Dream Theater rules, I think
you should discuss Dream Theater on the ytsejam. Later...j

            Hi all!!

Well, tis the season once again. It's been an amazing year for
these limited edition Rush, Dream Theater, Tori Amos, Metallica, and other
CDs. Five separate discs have sold out: Rush "Cygnus", Dream Theater
"Antiquities" and "Precious Things", Tori Amos "Inside The Storm", and
Metallica "The Wrath of God". Two more are at the doorstep of selling out:
Rush "Critical Mass" and Dream Theater "Scenes From A Memory". Plus, I
still have then heavily-demanded (and printed to order) DT disc "When
Dream And Today Unite", featuring current singer James LaBrie in
performances of the songs from the debut album that originally featured
    Charlie Dominici.

Please, PLEASE don't miss out on these if you are a collector. It
breaks my heart AND wallet when I have to turn people away who are seeking
Cygnus, Acoustic Dreams, Subconscious, and Inside The Storm. First of all,
I would like to make the sale, but I'm physically out of those limited
releases. Second, they cannot be reprinted. And third, I just wish they
had asked when they were still available.

So if you're a Rush fan, don't miss out on the 500-press double
disc "Critical Mass". Reviews of this disc set have been incredibly
positive. I AM going to run out within a few weeks, as I've sold over 450
of the sets already, and the masters are long gone (it simply cannot be
reprinted, much as I would like to). These are NOT CDRs... they're
    professionally crafted CD boots.

If you're a Dream Theater fan, you owe it to yourself to get "When
Dream and Today Unite" and "Scenes From A Memory" if you haven't already.
I've already told you about WDATU. Scenes is a wild ride of outtakes,
special live one-shots, vocalist auditions, and demos. I've got around 80
Scenes discs left. Don't miss out... I don't want to have to disappoint
you if you ask in two months and I don't have any left.

All of these discs are hand-numbered in paint for authenticity and
come from startlingly small print runs. They are all EXCLUSIVE to the
internet: they will never be distributed to any shops or mail-order
companies. They will never be reprinted because the masters are recycled
after production so I can get my humongous deposit back each time. Please
    check out my website at:
            http://www.columbia.edu/~jc309/archives/ginfo/mikebahr.html

You can order them directly from there if you choose. Or, at your
option, feel free to e-mail me at durnik@goodnet.com and I will set you up
with your order, or provide additional info if you wish. The website has
all the track listings and such on it.

Take care everyone, and happy holidays!!

Um, I'd advise you rather get the US Awake and the Silent Man Single. I got the Japanese Awake and tought I was cool for having Eve, but when I saw it was on the single, I was bummed. Same reason I orderes The Jap. Live at the Marquee, to have the live Another Day, but the Lie single had it. :( I'd rather have the French one with Surrounded now. :(

Anyway, the little mini-disc is kewl just to have and wave at people who don't. :) For those of you who don't have the Silent Man songle, check your local Sam Goody or whatever. If it's an impossible find, I could score you one for $15. The local shoppe has one.

a weird thought just came to mind as i was reading old jams about DT asking mike bahr not to put out the stuff from the ronn scotts gig. Now there is said to be alot of new material that they are going to record, even quite possible enough to make a double CD. So this brings us to a weird point as i would doubt that any non DT fans would buy a double CD but there is a way aound that. I seem to remember hearing that the band has about 100-115 minutes of new music with one of the songs possibly being Metropolis part II (which was stated to be about 1/2 hour long. Now subtract the 30 minutes from the 100 and you get 70 minutes, close to the max that can be put on a CD. so this would leave Metropolis part II all by its lonesome, and being that it checks in at such a big length I wonder if the band would probably put it on a CD with some other stuff much like ACOS with the Ronn Scotts stuff. HMMMMMM......., DT has more material than can be put onto a regular length CD, and they have asked Mr. Bahr not to finish his project with the Ronn Scotts material, i wonder if they are going to throw some kind of wierd left-handed curveball where poeple can buy just one CD, get sucked into the best band in the world and then find more CDs where they do covers of some other really great artists. OHHHH well, just a thought and i know im rambling but im tired. But think about it it does make sense, and its not a bad marketing move in the long run.

    laterz, stan
