WQell, I guess I have not posted recently mentioing the DT boot discog
that I maintain, so I might as well do so now.,.. I have most of the
old ones (Awake tour and earlier) but nothing that has come out since
Mind Control/Wake Up. I'd like to update it, especially since I am
going to entirly redo my web site in a week or so. If you have any
that I don';t have listed, please submit some info to me. I also have
one of the newer ones listed that someone weas asking about, so
whoever you were, check it out... It is located off of my main DT
    page, http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~mikeb/dt.html

One other thing is that I don;t have any of Mike Bahr's CDs
listed... probably will add them soon, with Mike's permission, of
    course...

Thanks to all those who gave me info on Klank. I haven't been able to find the CD anywhere, but hopefully I will. I have only heard Animosity. ARe his vocals like that on every song? I hope so....

Got Dead Winter Dead by Savatage. I must say that is one of the best CD's I've gotten in a long time...and I buy CD's ALL the time. I also have Hall of the Mountain King and TSO's Christmas Eve and Other Stories. Looks like I need to buy more Savatage albums...DWD is great!

    ------------------------------

    irc <nickname> irc.dreamt.org:2112

Where "nickname" (leave out the quotes) is the name you want to use on IRC. Normally this is not required, but for our private DT chat server you have to specify the server name (irc.dreamt.org) and the port number (2112, nowhere near the usual default :)).

It helps to use a terminal or a PC emulating a VT100-type terminal, and to have your session configured that way.

Backup IRC server, for when dreamt.org is down:

    irc <nickname> irc.rocknet.com

In both cases, you'll need to type /join #ytsejam after you get connected to the server; that's our channel.

Hey there! First off, for the fellow inquiring: New Megadeth, due in two and a half months (Mid-March) is called Needles and Pins. They over-wrote the album -as usual- and have to pick songs to put on it, but its in the final mixing stages. I can't wait; Youthanasia was a tremendous step up after Countdown to Extinction, but I still miss the guitar symphonies of Rust in Peace and Peace Sells. Second, I caved and bought the Rush tribute out of little more than sheer curiosity. First thought: this is the most poorly mixed and produced album I own. Even worse than Killing is my Business... I bought three other CDs yesterday: Joshua Redman, Miles Davis, and Chris Isaak (go ahead and flame me). I had been looking for a Fates Warning CD, but they didn't have any, so I got the tribute. The point is: the undeniable high point of the album is the STUPENDOUS version of Closer to the Heart. Since I was driving I couldn't crack open the liner notes to see who it was. But I figured it was just a mishmosh of band members like the other songs. But no! It was Fates Warning. Guess who I'll be hunting for at CD World from now on... Dave Matthews Band. Phenomenal live show, seen it four times. But the fifth show of his I saw was the most amazing: just him on the acoustic and Tim Reynolds on acoustic, too. They played THREE HOURS, and every song was amazing, even the normally cheesy What Would You Say? If you ever get the chance: go see one of these shows. There are two in New York State in January. I guess some Dream Theater content would be nice... But there isn't any.

    Andrew

By the way, who is that fella that torures the hell out of The Analog Kid vocals on the tribute? I want to steer clear of any album he sings on...

I must agree that Closer To The Heart is by FAR the best song on the disc (and the only one done by a complete band). Good luck in your search for some FW stuff.

regarding James Labries' voice not being as 'in your face' as the 'others':

Maybe I'm getting old and it doesn't take as much to impress anymore, but I would put "I may never get over" in that category. Perhaps James doesn't sing like that so much because he wants to have a working, functioning vocal system 5 years from now :)

After reading all the rave reviews for Angra & Symphony X, I have a few questions about which to purchase:

    1. Most of the online CD sources list 2 different imports: Is it worth paying the extra for Angra's *Holyland+Bonus* or is the *Holyland+1* package just as good (music content, not necessarily the other extras)?

    2. I could only find Symphony X (*Divine Wings & Damnation game*) on German Music Express. Are there any domestic (US) online sources (I'd guess Dream Disk carries them)?

    3. Is German Music Express reliable (quality of service/shipping time, etc.)?

    4. Tried CD Universe, CDNOW, Compact Disk Connection, Music Blvd., MusicNow (appears to now be a DOA site) and German Music Express

    5. Thanks
