WOW! I never knew this until I asked Ken, but there are 111 AOL jammers. I
was wondering if any jammers wanted to setup a meet in an AOL chat room. I
know its been done before, but I haven't seen a meet posted to the jam. Lets
setup a chat, and on that date, go into a chat room. Select "List Rooms" and
pick "Private Rooms". When it asks for the name of the room, type "Ytsejam".

an official spokesperson steps up and clears his throat, he then announces,
"The band has no comment at this time" (he he :) )

Actually its supposed to be knocking, then the door opens and that last
piece, sequence 77, or "The Thanksgiving song" enters. It is not
officially named, but I wrote it on my new sequencer thanksgiving night 1994.
THERE IS some sort of meaning to it all, but I cannot say, that would
take the fun away, I doubt anyone would really figure it out, but I am

    Hey all,

I am on the KISS mailing list and if anyone cares, it has been confirmed by a
few members of the band and on some east coast radio stations that KISS will
be reuniting for a tour this summer. That will be Paul, Gene, Peter, and Ace
    - makeup and full costumes with the 1977 Alive 2 stage. A real press
conference is scheduled within the next month after they get things pegged
    down.

Thought some of you might wanna know that. If you don't, Oh well now you do:)

    Hi all!

'Tis been a while since I've posted anything to the jam (here's hoping Ken
    doesn't eliminate everything) <grin>

Anyway, I want to make a statement about the whole Birch Hill tree thingy: I
want to take this opportunity to thank Brian (as I'm sure the rest of you will
want to - hint hint) for what he's offering to us. I mean many traders would
be most likely only trade them for top-notch shows or the ultra-rare, but
Brian is willing to share with everyone (at least those who signed up for the
tape-tree in time) - he's definitely a cool 'Jammer for offering these shows.
At any rate, if anyone looks down on this (perhaps a band member reading this
or someone else against boots) I hope you'll understand that the Dec shows
were historic for us 'Jammers and it's nice to have a memento (especially for
those of us who couldn't attend).

Next up - my review of When Dream and Today Unite: overall, I give this
release an 8.5 on a 10 scale (same for Subcon - Acoustic Dreams gets a 10+).
Before I go any further, hats off to Mike for another fine release! Anyway,
first off the cover is awesome! Love the ray-tracing artwork! Whoever did
the cover (sorry don't have the jacket handy) nice job and do another cover!!
Okey dokey now for the tunes themselves (keep in mind that all tracks are SB
recording except LFaGA and TOWHTSTS)...AFiL sounds real good. Status Seeker
    sounds good, however it's still slow just as it is on Dream Out Loud;
nonetheless, I love the intro (especially the keyboards). Ytsejam sounds
primo, excellent recording; oddly, while Mike B lists the source as late in
the I&W tour, the drum solo suggests an early I&W show - I dunno maybe its
just me... Killing Hand sounds good though unfortunately most of "Another
Hand" is missing - ah well at least its on LatM. LFaGA - finally I get to
hear the live version!! While it is an audience recording, it's still very
listenable and it's cool cuz it's not the same note-for-note version that
appears on WDADU. Mission Impossible/Afterlife sounds good, but I do notice
the hiss - otherwise great performance. TOWHTSTS - okay, here's the only real
disappointment (sorry Mike) the sound quality is fairly poor-its distorted and
not half as good sounding as the recording from A Kick Into a Dream - I guess
I maybe a little biased as well, cuz this is my favorite track on WDADU.
OaMoT/March of the Tyrant - probably my favorite on this disc cuz of March of
the Tyrant (man is it cool! I can only hope they'll resurrect this and other
old stuff on future tours - HINT HINT!! :) ) Unlike Lost in the Sky, this
track is a soundboard recording all the way through. TLF/Barfbag - great
recording of the song - gotta love the instrumental (which I believe is really
called Barfbag - someone correct me if I'm wrong). Well at over 71 mins long,
I'm very pleased, though it's not a perfect release. Nonetheless, I recommend
    getting it!

And I want to know what each of the guys (in DT, that is) thinks of Alex
Lifeson's Victor project - being that all of them are Rushheads (like me) I'm
very curious to find out their impressions, so for those of you who know them
personally please ask them what they think. Airdance - if you can, ask Kevin
as well since some of the music is somewhat in the vein of what Kevin's been
    doing. Thanx in advance.

Also, I posted this to alt.music.dt without any response so far, so I'll ask
here: I have the 86 Demos, Instrumental, Instrumental II, Subcon and the vocal
audition tapes and a copy of Charlie singing "A Vision" - what other pre-I&W
demos are out there? If I remember correctly, Freewill and Gates of Babylon
are listed as being demoed in the FAQ - is this true?

And I want to send be-lated sympathy to the Portnoy family for their loss.

Hi everyone! I just needed to give a quick note about the Jersey
show. Actually, make that two quick notes!
Eddie mentioned a friend who was a roadie. There was one roadie
in particular out with everyone who was bragging about everything under
the sun. I know many of the Jammers there met him. He was of medium
height with long dirty blond hair. Eddie, if this is your friend, all
that he told you is bullshit. He was an asshole who was just trying to
get females and doing anything he possibly could to do that. Trust me,
he told us ALL about his exploits and past experience at concerts with
various bands and their female followers as well as the bands own
girlfriends. I am sorry if this isn't your friend (and if it is!) but I
wanted to forewarn everyone that this might not be true. He gossiped
about everyone under the sun and there was no way in hell he was right.
He was just slimy. I guess guys who tell me I can sleep with them if I
help out after the show while my boyfriend is standing right there just
lose a bit of credibility and respect!
Again, I apologize if this isn't your friend but all that he says
can't be taken for truth if it is.
One more quick thing, I know I have mentioned this before. I,
too, am searching for bootlegs (video and recordings) from any of the
Holiday shows, preferably the Birch Hill. Anyone can help and isn't
going to post please email me privately. Thanks!

                    Love Everyone!

Anyone else see this as a prelude to a "Late Night Wars" thread? Thank
goodness this list is *moderated*. :)

Another possible problem I see with getting DT on any late night show: By
all accouts, the band are perfectionists. How do you think they would like
having to do a whole setup and warm-up, then only get to play one song
(probably highly edited to fit them in)? That's got to be rough on *any*
band (unless you're Green Day or something, where a good performance and a
bad one sound pretty much the same. :))

If we want them on there, we should also want them to be able to play a song
that is at least somewhat representative of the band. How would you like
them to get on and play WFS, and have the non-DT-fan audience think that's
    all they play?

But if they play ACOS, they'd have to pause for commercial breaks in the
middle, and Dave would have to lose the monologue AND the Top Ten List. :)

    Something to think about, anyway.

This is just a little reiteration to Pat Daugherty and anyone who finds the
door-knocking on track 20 of the SG album annoying:

First off, it isn't part of GhostShip. If you add up the times of the 7
parts (tracks 13-19) they total the 21 minutes of Ghostship. Track 20 is
another 8 minutes or so, so it is a seperate song. And, it therefore also
qualifies as a "secret track" -- so the knocking s a bit forgivable, since
bands often do weird things on secret tracks like starting them at track 99
    and such.

On the other hand, (not the killing hand) I do wish that they had put the
silence and the knocking on track 20 and the music on track 21, so I could
    skip the knocking.

DTC (sort of) Whenever I wear my "eye" Awake shirt, I get lots of people
staring at it. Quite a few total stragers will comment on it as well.
Also, at this place called "The Hologram Shop" in Ghiradelli Square in San
Francisco, they have these watches with holographs on them, one of which is
an eye. I got it, since it reminds me of the shirt (and the Lie single
cover of course) I call it my Dream Theater watch. :) If only it had
    roman numerals instead of arabic...

#137, plenty of others have gotten their copy. I've only had the time to
listen to it once (my schedule has been insane lately), but I'm impressed.
I'm actually afraid if I listen to it too much, I'll have a hard time
listening to the original (and I _like_ WDADU!) The artwork is very cool,
and a *picture* disc! Moving up in the world! ;^)

For some reason the mail came real early today (Saturday) and I got When
Dream and Today Unite #153 with it :D. I have Subconscious and Cygnus from
Mr. Bahr and I think WDATU is his best effort yet. The cover art/insert is
excellent. Very good quality. The recording is also excellent. I'm not a
big bootleg guy but the sound quality is great! I've been listening to When
Dream and DAY Unite a lot so it's a little wierd to hear LaBrie but it's
great. Plus some bonus tracks :). I won't go into it for those of you who
haven't received yours. I can sum it up by saying that I don't think anyone
    will be disappointed.

    Thanks Mike :).

Man. I can't believe how mad some people can get. Although I can agree that
    it's not a guarantee :)

    Hello jammers,

I went to a show at The Edge in Palo Alto sunday night, and there was a sign
up for a Galactic Cowboys show on Wed. April 10. Price is $8 in advance and
is an all ages show. I must have been one of the first people to get a ticket
because when I first asked to buy one, the person said they weren't on sale.

I hope that as many Bay Area jammers as possible can get to the show since
these guys seem to be getting ZERO support from their label. They, like DT,
deserve much more attention then they get. I know the show is still a ways
off. But I wanted to send it ASAP and hope it gets on one of the jams before
    the show actually happens.

DT content: I can't wait to get the audio of the Birch Hill show, since I
didn't get a chance to go to any of the shows.

            Hello Jammers!!!

I am an hardcore Italian DT fan and I have some hard doubts that I hope you
can clear. Well, here is the list:
    1) Are DT actually on tour???? I thought they were recording the new album
in these days but some people told me that they are touring Europe now.
    2) If 1) is true: does anybody knows the *EXACT* date list and specially :
Do you know if DT will be in Italy in February? Someone told me that they
will play three gigs in Italy: February 13,14,15 in Turin,Rome and Milan.
I asked you these things cos any italian promoter and magazine doesn't know
anything about them, and I told to myself: between all the jammers surely
there MUST be someone who knows that stuff!!

Please answer my questions on the Ytsejam or writing me, my E-Mail is:
    altreal@mbox.vol.it

    Bye and Keep on Rocking!!!
