    Introduction
    ------------

Welcome to YTSEJAM, the Dream Theater mailing list! This list
is for fans of Dream Theater, and will discuss them and any
related topics. (Related topics include other progressive
metal bands like Fates Warning, King's X, Crimson Glory,
            Inferno, etc.)

Topics that are considered non-related include religion, politics,
abortion, etc. If a non-related thread lasts for too long,
the list managers may issue a warning, followed by suspension
            or expulsion from the list.

Also the list managers reserve the right to reject messages,
unsubscribe users, etc. This list is paid for by the managers
and it is a privilege, not a right, to be part of it.

    NEWS

    ----
(Make sure to check the date at the top of this file, since this
part can go quickly out of date.)

If the digest number makes it look like you missed an issue, you probably haven't--listproc has a bug where the digest number sometimes increments by two instead of one.

DT played some dates in the Northeastern US this month. Reviews for the following dates were posted in digests 1207-1213.

12/27/95 El N Gee, Connecticut 12/28/95 Malibu, New York 12/29/95 Birch Hill, New Jersey

The next DT album is due out in September or October 1996 according to the band.

The rumors of the Ronnie Scott's gig Video Tape (mentioned in Heavy Rock Magazine among others) seems to only be a rumor.

The last official release by the band was the "A Change of Seasons" EP was released September 19th in the US. It contains "A Change of Seasons" (a 23-minute epic which was written during the I&W time frame), and some live tracks from the Ronnie Scott's gig (covers of Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding", Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers", Led Zep's "The Rover/Achille's Last Stand/The Song Remains the Same", Pink Floyd's "In the Flesh?", Kansas's "Carry On My Wayward Son", Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", Journey's "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'", Dixie Dregs's "Cruise Control", and Genesis's "Turn It On Again". The first 1000 copies of the Japanese version of the EP will contain a coupon that can be redeemed to get a 3" CD of the Ronnie Scott's gig version of Rush's "Tears" (the 3" CDs have reportedly now been sent out).

To get a copy of the Kevin Moore demo tapes (that Kevin has thoughtfully provided to the list) send email to airdance@aol.com and she will direct you to the closest dub site.

Kevin More FAQs (from <airdance@aol.com>) - Yes, Kevin Moore recorded some demos with Rich Kern, but they aren't working together anymore - No, Kevin doesn't have a record deal yet. Consequently, no, Kevin doesn't have a CD coming out anytime soon. ;) - Yes, Kevin is still being managed by Round Table (DT's management). - Yes, Kevin is working w/Mark Zonder of Fates Warning on his new demos in Los Angeles. - No, Kevin has not joined Fates Warning. :) - Yes, Kevin is singing all the lead vocals on his demos, and playing bass/keys as well. - No, Kevin doesn't have a guitar player at the present time (& please don't ask me to send him a tape for you.hahaha)

    WWW INFO --------

The following Dream Theater WWW pages have all of the FAQs, discogs, bootlists, etc.

    http://www.columbia.edu/~jc309/dreamt.html http://cs.brandeis.edu/USER/UGRAD/mikeb/dt.html

(there are actually over 100 DT or Ytsejam related web pages).

    SUBSCRIBING -----------

    To subscribe, please send:

    subscribe ytsejam name

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a Subject of "asdf". Please don't put anything in front of the word subscribe (eg spaces, tabs, smileys).

    FAQ ---

The faq (Frequently asked questions with answers) can be retrieved via email by sending:

    get ytsejam dtfaq-4.0.txt

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of "asdf".

The FAQ is currently maintained by Jason Skewes and includes background on many of the songs, answers to many historical questions, and sources for some of the samples used. Highly recommended :)

It is also available via www.

The Dream Theater Unofficial Song Book includes lyrics and transcribed samples. It is available via WWW at:

http://www.indirect.com/www/mkizer/index.html or via email by sending:

    get ytsejam dt.songbook

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of "asdf". (The most recent version is usually the web page.)

    DIGEST FORM -----------

By default this list is a digest. That means you get individual pieces of mail bundled up into a single message.

    set ytsejam mail digest

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of "asdf".

It used to be that only 1 digest a day would come out, but we've been averaging 2-4. This number will hopefully go down. UNDIGEST -------- To go into normal "bounce" mode (receive each message individually) send:

    set ytsejam mail ack

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of "asdf".

PRIVACY ------- By default your subscription address is "conceal"ed--that means that others can't see your address if a "recipients ytsejam" command is sent to the server. If you would like others to see your address, send:

    set ytsejam conceal no

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of "asdf".

    UNSUBSCRIBING -------------

To leave the list, please send:

    unsubscribe ytsejam

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of "asdf". Please don't put anything in front of the word unsubscribe (eg spaces, tabs, smileys) or the idiotic program might reject your request.

If you run into problems with the program, send email to ytsejam-owner@ax.com and a human will help you. (We're busy people--we'll try to process your request as fast as possible, but don't panic if you haven't been unsubscribed within 24 hours.)

    AUTOMATIC UNSUBSCRIPTION ------------------------

I will unsubscribe you if one of the following happens:

    1) I get "User Unknown" or other bounces from your site for 3 consecutive days 2) You receive a warning and ignore it.

You'll receive a warning if you spam the list with an unrelated ad (Olga, incense sticks, etc). You'll not receive one for posting ads for stuff related to the list (albums, etc).

    BACK ISSUES -----------

To get a list of the Ytsejam archive send:

    index ytsejam

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of "asdf".

To get a specific back issue (in this example, digest 1000) send:

    get ytsejam ytsejam.1000

to ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of "asdf". Where To Find Stuff -------------------

To receive a list of progressive rock mail order sources send:

You can also try some of the online services: cdnow.com, cdconnection.com, cdeurope.com, etc.

    List of Mailing Lists ---------------------

To get a list of music-oriented mailing lists, I mirror Myra Wong's List of Music Mailing Lists. To get the current version (3.1) send:

gimme to lomml@arastar.com with a subject of "asdf".

If the lomml is too big to receive this way (because your site/mailer can't handle it) you can get the split version by sending:

get lomml lomml-3.2-part1 get lomml lomml-3.2-part2 get lomml lomml-3.2-part3 to listproc@arastar.com with a subject of "hjkl".
