Bleah!
Hi everyone!
I figured it would be just so appropriate for me to make my first
post to the new Ytsejam while TOTALLY wasted. I've had 9, count'em, 9
colorado bulldogs, and I'm really sloshed at the moment. For those who
haven't had this great alcoholic drink, it's:
1 part smirnoff vodka;
1 part kahlua;
1 part coke;
1 part cream, preferably real cream, not half-n-half.
I saw Bafu's last post to the Jam. I figure it was pretty cool. I
also give Bafu's cool posts extra weight intellectually since I was such
an asshole to him while I was in New York (sorry man.)
Good news: WDATU shipping is goin' right along, and AQ is on
schedule for the 3/17/96 release... so far. Also, thanks to the help of
you Jammers, I totally finished (to date) my Star Wars figure collection,
and I really appreciate it. You're all so cool for helping me. :) Again,
for anyone who didn't catch it the first time, the Jammers have pretty
much helped me get up to date with the new assortment that's out, but if
you have old (original) Kenner Star Wars figures and vehicles collecting
dust in your closet, let me know as I am willing to convert them into
cash for you.
Bad news... my kitten "Tori Amos" came down with a severe case of
"hit by a truck" yesterday. I'm grieving her loss even now... she was the
coolest cat I'd ever known, especially since I usually _hate_ cats. She
was friendly to me and every guest I had, clean and easy to live with,
and life was basically a party for little Tori. So everyone light a
candle for Tori if you could... as the rain is falling down, tears of
sorrow washing by, drifting with the current, the stream of life flows on.
A listing of Antiquities numbers is long overdue and should
appear very soon now. Take care everyone!

What a great idea! Hell, if Jerry Garcia could do it, certainly one of us could do it! But were his ties cool because they were from Jerry Garcia, or because they were designed in the mind of a full-on space cadet?

Etc, etc. You all read it. Am I the only one that pictures a similar conversation between, say, Steven Hawking and Pauly Shore? Sorry, no disrespect meant towards either Mr. Hawking or Mr. Shore.
----
Look, we're on our own here. Sort of like _Lord of the Flies_. Once again, we get to govern our own list. I think we all went off the deep end at least once in the Pre-[kbibb] era. But let's try to avoid it now. I think we learned some lessons in the past couple months. Like, for instance:
1) Long, drawn-out personal attacks should be kept to private e-mail. 2) Long, drawn-out discussions of Iron Maiden, as cool as they are, shouldn't take place here. 3) Call ahead before you make plans, see if the place is still open. 4) We're all here to have fun. Try not to be a weenie. 5) Ben Laussade is a wacko, but not in a bad way. 6) Mike Bahr is the most powerful man on earth. Bafu made me *pay* for my backstage pass! :) (Too bad I couldn't use the free one, but that's life.)
Remember stuff like that, and we'll all have a better time. I promise.
So, anyway, getting back to that Blind Melon thread...

What's this ?...Did I understand that there is a limit of 70 lines ????. Well.. I prolly didn't, but that ..GASP..that would be MODERATION <shiver> =)

Yeah. Paradise Lost are good. This is the discoraphy to my knowledge and no dates. I'm going fron the top of my head so don't kill me =) -Lost Paradise -Shades of God -Gothic -Icon -Draconian Times Hmm... I think you're more into the new era (the Metallica sound) which 'Icon' and 'Draconian Times' represent. I myself am more into the heavier and darker sound of PL and 'Shades of God' is their best IMO. The point is that there was a signicant sound change in PL's sound and if you like 'Drac.T' for example, you might not like their earlier work. The newer stuff is a little on the sellout side. But the older stuff ROCKS =)
3.----Toilets > WELCOME TO OUR NEW HOME! MESS WITH ME, AND I'LL FLUSH YOUR TOILET! > MUWAHAHAHAHAHAH! :-) :-) >> NO!...NOT THE TOILET !!...AAARRGGHHHHHH

Has anybody gotten the new Jimi Hendrix tribute? No not Stone Free but a new one. (I cant remember the name off the top of my head).
doug Pinnick sings lead on 1 track and backups on a couple others. Others on this include Brian May, Sting, cory Glover, and others. The London Orchestra plays on some too.
About Building Blox, a bunch of people got it for free over the internet. There was a post to newsgroups saying just email your address and a few weeks later the cd was in my mailbox.

Hey Koogie=A8 Buying a Paradise Lost album is one of the best music al choices you've made=A8
I've been following them since their 3rd album - Shades of God, and their last two - Icon, and Draconian Times (out just last year) have been thier finest.
They have a powerful and heavy guitar sound that balances well with the lead singers forceful vocals. You could compare them as a British version of Metallica, but they really have their own 'Paradise Lost' sound.
DT fans that enjoy a heavier/Gothic touch, I reckon, will appreciate PL.
Also try Sepultura's 'Chaos AD', and Anthrax 'Sound of White Noise'.
It's great to know DT fans also enjoy the heavier 'head-down/mosh' stuff :-)
Regards
Ashley

Hey guys! This is my first post on ax.com, so let me just say welcome back. I just have a couple things to say.
First...I have a spare, unopened, brand-spanking new copy of Steve Vai's "Alien Love Secrets" EP. If anyone would like to trade boots or miscellaneous DT stuff for it, just e-mail me personally.
Also, to anyone interested in the recent Derek Sherinian interview I transcribed, it is finished and can be found on Jeff Chew's "Lifting Shadows" web page.
Until next time, later all!

Hey,
To start off, I have been a huge Iron Maiden fan for about 15 years, and I must say that Iron Maiden's "X-Factor" is my least favorite IM album. I've tried to like Blazes style and range, butit just doesn't work for me. However I am going to see IM on Feb 24th in Detriot, I'll let you know how he does live. As for Nicko McBrain, I love him. He is a great drummer, many of my dummer friends who love Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy will back me up on this. As for Steve Harris's songwriting, I have to say he is great, but lately his style has been following a formula. Slow Melodic intros followed by a hard rock body. All but 2 of the tracks on "X-Factor" follow this formula, and I can trace it back to "Somewhere in Time".
Oh Yeah, and Blaze does go flat on the end of "2 am" which otherwise is an O.K. song.
I hope the next album is better.

Great to be on a moderated list again ! I can't wait for those Top 5 lists to come in <sarcasm>. Anyone who knows when the new Enchant album will be out ?

Paradise Lost is a cool band except for the singer ! Boy, does this guy sing out of tune...I guess he beats Dominic live ! I can sing even better than that ! I don't want to start a discussion about this, but if you want to comment about him, send it in anyway ! Like I care..I just skip it :-)

Personally, I had a hard time getting into Siagon Kick, but I think Extreme is excellent. III Sides to Every Story is their best IMO. Maybe its because I love the orchestral arrangements, or because of Nuno, or probably just because they're an all around good band. But to answer your question, I'm sure you're not he only one who likes Extreme or Saigon Kick. See ya, -Andrew-
