I just got the tapes from my good friend Jon and they sound pretty good.
Has anyone else noticed the EXTREME amount of low bass in these recordings?
I have a subwoofer hooked in my system and all that is distinguishable from
it is a loud hum whenever Myung plays. I had to re-EQ the entire system
just to play the tape well. No big deal, cause I have a lot of extra presets
on my EQ and receiver, but I just thought that someone might be able to clean
    it up a bit.

    Later,
        Andrew

Dixie Dregs are on and off...I saw them last December in San Francisco, and they toured all through '95. There lastest release was "Full Circle" Their new keyboardist Jordann Ruddess (SP?) is incredible. They had the best live show I've seen! -Adam

Bafu Vai wrote this in ystejam 1262:

How many digests do you think it'll take before people stop saying "since this is a new list we should blah blah blah" or "let's not start out the new list by blah blah blah" or "what do you mean WHO is he? he's blah blah blah." I give it ten, maybe fifteen digests. Odds are 4 to 1 against me. (Hold yourself back, Augie.)

I'll definetly make this bet. I'll bet big time on the over. I say 20+ digest until people will shut up about it. But again, I'm the worst gambler of all time. So of course everyone is going to shut up withing the next jam or 2.

Someone asked a few jams back if there were any Extreme fans out there? Well, I used to be a huge Extreme fan. They were my favorite group until I found out about Dream Theater. Since then they've taken a back seat to DT. But I do occassionally listen to them. I'm looking forward for Nuno's solo project. Anything by him should be interesting. A little more news from Extreme. Nuno Bettencourt just got a girl. I don't know the name of it. But he does now have a new baby girl.

Bafu's post about the guy talking about Iron Maiden was hilarious. As a huge comic book fan, it was great to see. The metal wings will weigh him down....HILARIOUS! Anyway, I have WDATU #123 and it is obviously great. I really like the version of Status Seeker, though. I was really impressed with TOWHTSTS as well. Yeah, it is probably the worst quality on the disk, but wow! It seems a lot heavier to me, which I think suits the song well. And I love the way James sings on OAMOT, especially the "When Dream and Day Unite, Tonight" part.

I would love to hear studio versions of these songs with James singing.

First post to the new 'Jam -- cool! :)

I think it's fairly obvious why we're seeing WDADU come out -- DT is just starting to gain some mainstream popularity here in the States, at least enough to make a rerelease a good prospect for the label.

One of the reasons the band has given for not playing the older stuff here is that not enough of the crowd got into the songs (remember, they dropped a WDADU song off the Awake tour for this reason). Now, we have to wonder, with the long-awaited domestic rerelease of WDADU, if they might be more inclined to play something from it -- the crowd might actually get into it more. (I vote for "Killing Hand" myself, a personal fave.)

Well, now we're on an unmoderated list, and Life is Grand. We get to see truly stupid Iron Maiden flame-age, complete with embarassing typos and grammar misuse. We get to see the ever-popular "MAIL ITEM REFORMATTED" warning from some dumb-shit site -- get used to it; looks like we're getting one for each Ytsejam. Did I hear someone mutter something about signal-to-noise ratio? Just keep telling yourselves It's Better This Way. :)

WDATU #152 has FINALLY arrived.....and there was much rejoicing. <yay>

OK Shirt fans! It seems there is enough interest to test the waters more for another shirt order. After speaking with the shirt company about minimum orders, it looks like we need 50+ orders to make it worthwhile. So, here's the info, please send in your requests for shirts now, and if I see we're going to make the 50 mark, then I'll then instruct everyone where to send the money, etc.

For news on Tank Tops, see below!

Design ( front ): Majesty symbol in white ink, with "Ytsejam" on top in script font, and "INTERNET MAILING LIST" in small block letters beneath.

Design ( back ): Large white DREAM THEATER logo in white across the top, with Let the Light Surround You across the bottom in greyish GLOW IN THE DARK ink.

This shirt is now being offered in FOREST GREEN, BLACK, MAROON, and DARK NAVY. I cannot guarantee that this design will look good on any color but black! (of course, "good" is completely subjective).

Sizes Available: M, Large, XL, XXL (+$1.50), XXXL (+$2.00). Dark shirts tend to shrink more than light colors, so if you are on the edge of a size, order accordingly!

Fill out this form and return it to jgiles@crl.com:

    Name: E-Mail Address: Mailing Address:

Qty Size Color --------------------------- 2 XL DK Navy

LEAVE NOTHING BLANK!!! All info is needed for me to properly take care of everyone! Be sure to specify what color goes with what size, etc. if you are ordering more than one shirt.

Shirt design can be previewed on a black shirt at: www.crl.com/~jgiles/shirts.html

Shirts at $14.00 each, which includes shippin the US and Canada. Add $4.00 for orders outside the US, such as Germany, UK, etc.

Let the fun begin!!! Questions, comments, orders, etc: jgiles@crl.com

MORE NEWS-- TANK TOPS! I will now offer Tank Tops for the coming summer months! Black will be the only color available, and the and the design will be the same, except that the majesty logo and other left breast artwork will be in the center of the chest of the tank top. While reading jam 1261, I ran across this quote: >>"A thousand lawyers I have found.." James LaBrie, Perfect Strangers..<<

This song was written by Deep Purple. I've been trying to figure out where this line is in that song and I can't find it.

    >>I hope that after a year of excuses he hasn't screwed me over like Jeremy Haynes.<< >Maybe they're not excuses. Maybe they're REASONS.<

There are NO reasons short of death for taking a year to complete a trade. If your recovered enough from an accident to go to the Northeast in the dead of winter to see four DT shows, you're recovered enough to dub some tapes, drop them in an envelope, and mail them.

For any KISS fans out there, I have an unedited (170min) version of KISS unplugged in stereo. If anyone is interested in a copy, please email me personally.

DATE: Tuesday Feb.14th, 1995 CITY: Utrecht, Holland

.."After the show, me, Marlene, Derek & the Fates Gang walk around visiting and sampling the local 'Coffee' shops. Damn!-I love this country!!!" (For those who don't know, these are bars where you can legally buy and consume marijuana, and I love this country too! Greetings to all the jammers from the netherlands!)

(And the next day): "Wake up real foggy from last night's activities. Get up and do some interviews at the hotel..."

DATE: Feb. 16th, 1995 CITY: Copenhagen, Denmark (Day off)

.."Me and Ho (I think that's Mike drumtech) hang with them (Pro-Pain) & their crew for a few hours after the show. We hook up with Derek & pop by a local strip joint for a beer. Go grap a bite to eat with a fan we met & then finally back to the hotel to retire."
