    Why?

    Why?
    The darkness seeps in
    It troubles me
    the absence of light
It was supposed to be better now
    but nothing
    has changed
    It is OVER
    It isn't though.
    It troubled me
            To think about it
    I get nervous
            When I see her
A thousand pounds were lifted from my chest
but the weight is still there like a sinister afterthought
    Why?
Is it always someone else that gets it.
    Never
    Never
    Never me.
I'm a ghost...there, but not there. They laugh..stare, but in the end it
    all just passes right through
    me.
    I feel so much
    I have to do

    But I won't.

    WHY

I wrote that. If you're really confused, ask me about it.

    The name's Ben....Ytse Ben.

    Greetings.
I was looking through the new issue of Modern Drummer and I came
upon an ad for "Lessons From The Greats", a CD/Book thing. Among the people
giving lessons are Mike Portnoy, Neil Peart and Tim "Herb" Alexander of
Primus. Just thought I'd share that with you. Yes, I'm going to order it.
Hmmm...what to say, what to say.
Don't you hate when there's something you really want to do, but you
can't bring yourself to do it? And, you feel this twinge of longing every
time you see it? Hell, I guess I'm almost getting used to it. But it's
still so frustrating. I mean, there's nothing stopping me except me. Oh well.

    The name's Ben....Ytse Ben.

    'allo, all you jammers!@

i had a chance to listen to "subsciousious" (however the hell
it's spelled), and i noticed how different ACOS is from the recorded
version. It is me, or does the recorded version kicks the old one's ass?
I mean, this one is structured better, and i'd even go to say that Derek
    has really improved the song.

            but i could be wrong.

           Hey guys....

Let me begin, by saying I'm glad to be in on the new Jam...
Welcome new Jammers and old Jammers...

Since this is my first post to the new jam, I wanna say a few
    things...
Thanx to all the IRC buds out there...(Bafu, Skadz, D-man, Wisha,
BigMan, E-Man, Sinista, Chambers, Augie) you make my evenings a little
    more interesting...

           Now onto business.....

           1) Since a good deal of us live on Long Island...I was thinking
of having some get togethers for the L.I. Jammers...
I wouldn't exactly call em 'cons' but we should all get together
           some friday night...meet somewhere...and hang out....We could
We could call it a Mini-Con....or whatever....
Anyone Interested???? Email me at MojoMan@Pointblank.com
                                                   or
                                               MojoMan@Dreamt.org

           2) My original band is looking for a singer...anyone interested
or know someone???? I wouldn't describe us as having that much
Dream Theater (even though my playing is growing increasingly
JP-Like) in us....I would say we're influenced by VH, Journey,
Rush, DT, (and someof the earlier writing has Digital Man as a
co-writer)....we really need someone who is gonna be a frontman
as well as a singer....we rehearse on LI...we were Semi-finalists
in the LI Music Festival...we have a demo (that Digital Man also
           played on)......
If anyone is interested....again, email me....

                           MojoMan@Pointblank.com
                               or
                           MojoMan@Dreamt.org

             Anyway, thats all for now....

           L8r,

That's Subject:^3 for all you algeblasters.

Whoah, this is like...the "new" Ytsejam... A Ytsejam of reckless abandon,
throwing caution and patience to the wind. Chaos walks through the door,
and moderation flies out the window. A mailing list without fear, and
hopefully sometimes without logic, because arguments are always more fun
when the participants can't speak a common language. I mean, most of the
people here choose to speak English, but who says they have to? Maybe one
of these days we'll see some intrepid, free will-choosing soul do a flame
    entirely in morse code.

And why are there no semaphore keys on my keyboard? After all, de
antwoorden zijn altijd al aanwezig. And binnen al kwestie, for that
    matter...

So since it's a new mailing list, do we all get to re-introduce ourselves?
Hello, I'm Bafu Vai. Pleased to meet you. Of course I'm a Ytsejammer, you
don't need to see my identification. Move along.

Speaking of new lists, do we all get new .sigs too? Can I flame people
now? Make fun of Ken Bibb and Ryan Skadberg and Mike Bahr ALL at the same
time? What's that? AND praise Dream Theater? Hey, sounds like a good deal.

How many digests do you think it'll take before people stop saying "since
this is a new list we should blah blah blah" or "let's not start out the
new list by blah blah blah" or "what do you mean WHO is he? he's blah blah
blah." I give it ten, maybe fifteen digests. Odds are 4 to 1 against me.
    (Hold yourself back, Augie.)

(Silly obligatory last-minute reminder to new eyes: there may not be
moderation on this list, but the one established yet unspoken intolerance
here is the force-feeding of opinions. Flooders, preachers, and avid
complainers will promptly be refused smiley faces. We don't mean to be
rude, d00d, but if you don't like what you see here, nobody wants to take
    you prisoner.)

Nope, no more moderation. Everyone receives 40 megabytes and a mouse. Though I hear that the Jam is trying to secede from the Ytse...

    > Ytse-Ben screams, for BafuVai is in the shower singing a mangled version > of Metropolis.

Oh, just because YOU'RE not allergic to water, you automatically assume that everyone else is the same way? How narrow-minded and judgmental...

    > WELCOME TO OUR NEW HOME! MESS WITH ME, AND I'LL FLUSH YOUR TOILET! > MUWAHAHAHAHAHAH! :-) :-) > > The name's Ben....Ytse Ben.

To anyone who's never been on #ytsejam, this fellow is Ben Laussade. He designs hacker-plumbing software that allows the user to wire into a city's main water control-grid. He doesn't mess with reservoirs, just individual homes. He can set your hot water heater to "off," or he can just make your toilet flush continuously for hours on end. He can pinpoint places up to 1400 miles away with just his modem, so be careful about directly pissing him off.

Should you get on his bad side, don't be surprised if your shower spews out the water from your recently-flushed toilet the next time you bathe (assuming you aren't allergic to water).

---- > From: Mark Smeets <msmeets@ibm.net> > Subject: Iron Maiden and DT > > I wanted to say something to the absolute idiot on here who posted about > Maiden's new album.

Cool, so now we have not only a Fucking Idiot, but an Absolute Idiot as well! Welcome aboard, brother. You'll get used to the title... I did. ;)

(quotes from that other guy) > -But the main problem of "X-factor" (the X means > -Blaze, Steve Harris said) is the cheap song quality.

No, the main problem with X-Factor is that those metal wings would really weigh Archangel down. They're not feathers, after all.

    > What drugs are you on you fool? Blaze was never MEANT to be a fill in > for Bruce, he was the man REPLACING Bruce..BIG difference. How can he > clone Bruce if his voice range is totally different? Hey, they cloned Peter Parker. Anything is possible.

They haven't come > your way yet, god you are so stupid. Yeah, I know what you mean. It's a shame I couldn't enjoy those DT holiday shows out in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, what with me living in Seattle and all...

    > Its idiots like you that destry Maiden, get a life and get lost. You > have no clue what your talking about and probably don't even know the > name of the other guitarist in Maiden.

Yeah, you destructive idiot! Stop criticizing Dream Theater! Wait, you're not talking about Dream Theater...

Okay, someone help me out. Which of these two guys is at fault here? Who's the fool, the fool or the fool who follows him?

    > -I hope that your doubts are cleared and I wait for your opinions. > -Bye > > My doubts are clear, clear that your an idiot.

My doubts are idiotic, idiotic that you are clear. Your idiotic clarity is doubtful, too...

A few posts ago someone asked about DT posters, well I have several from the WDADU days. A local Record shop was giving them away with the purchase of the album when it came out, and I scammed four of them. I also recieved one of the I&W posters from Kenny Myung. Hey heres an idea, I should get Kenny to subscribe to the jam. Then he would hate me for life fo getting his mailbox filled with alot of useless stuff. What do you think? After all He graduated with a Comp Sci degree from Stony Brook.

Hello jammers!!! This is my first post in what has to be at least a month now. I got really sick of the moderated jam and decided not to even post. Anyway, I love the jam so far. This is the way ytsejam should of always been, unmoderated!

I'm listening to the Malibu show from the Christmas shows right now and at this moment DT is playing the instrumental meledy. Wouldn't it be cool at a concert that instead of playing covers in an instrumental medley to rest Labrie that they should just play one of their instrumental songs? How about ytsejam?? I think that would fit great and I know that everyone hear would love it. Are you reading this Mike Portnoy? I hope you are. We all know that this song is your favorite off WDADU and since it's rereleased it's a good advertisement for sales. Please consider this on your next go around on tour and especially here in the NY area.

What the heck, I haven't posted in awhile so I may as well continue blabbering. I really want to see more of your faces in the irc channel that Skadz set up for us. It really rules!! We've had as many as 16 people there at one time! There are times when there is no one in there. If you do show up and no one is in there, just stay in there and wait. Normally within 10-15 minutes someone will show up. Once one person is in there, a chain reaction starts and people flock in, in bunches. Anyway, I hope to see everyone in the server irc.dreamt.org 2112 really soon. I'll be there under the name Augie.

The Electric Version of The Silent Man Rules!!!!!!! Please Portnoy or anyone else from DT reading this, rerecord the song but play it the way you did at the concerts. It ruled! That song would be wonders for you. It has huge potential for a pop song.

I've had enough for now. I hope everyone is doing alright. I'll speak to you all soon in here again. And I'll hopefully see you guys in irc really soon.

    Later

What's up fellow jammers? My first post on the new jam and there is so much to say. First things first. It's late Thursday night in New York and I just finished watching E.R. During commercials I turned on the Ranger game ( relax I'm really an Islander fan ) and what do I hear over the Garden's P.A. but " The Mirror ". I could not believe my ears. The TV audience could not hear it well but I'm sure the crowd heard it just fine. Who knows maybe it will inspire some new fans. I think that all sporting events should play DT at sometime or another. I just thought some of you might find that kind of cool, I did. The digital man ( or boy as he is known to me and the Mojoman ) still should be stuffed into a box and made to listen to songs such as " Life to lead, Kick it over ( which the drumming was incredible on ) and Page 32 " , then maybe he will appreciate what I did for him by getting him into Dream Theater.

Lastly I would like to comment on Iron Maiden. They were a great band who influenced a great many people, but as they say " All good things come to an end " and " they " were correct. Unfortunate for us Maiden came to an end when Adrian Smith left the band. Nicko still rules though, and I owe the fact that I play drums to him and him alone.

P.S. I think Mark Zonder is still with Fates Warning. If I'm wrong please correct me.

Hello all, Does anyone have a recording of an old Sundance (R.I.P.) show from June 9th 1990, When Dream Theater opened up for Marillion? My brother saw the show and said that someone came on stage and sang a few songs with the band (at the time they were touring instrumental). I would really like to know who the singer was and if there is a tape avaliable. To all the people who have been fans since the begining (I'm sure that's the majority of you) you can understand how much I want to get my hands on this tape (if it exists). It's great to see how many people out there appreciate the music that I do. Keep it up.
