I was counting the days until something like this happened, weren't you?
Sigh.
Bafu sez:
> Mike, you forget that I am not only immune to competition and air
> currents, but also on friendly terms with The Dark Star.
"Dark Star"... that's a name I've not heard in a long time... a long time.
Ah yes, that was the OLD me, back last semester when I was in engineering
school and a bitter wreck, and I wrote about Blind Melon and Ayn Rand and
anagrams, with everything in lowercase letters. It was a dark time for the
rebellion. Now, however, I am out of that particular circle of Hell and am
now going into English-- and my email alias is "Scotch" in anticipation of
many long nights drinking away the unemployment checks. But yes, Bafu and
I are on frondly terms... and whoever said I might be on the verge of
outdoing Bafu, well, no. I'm afraid I can't quite aspire to reach the
zenith/nadir of Bafu Vai's Wild And Wacky Shenanigans (tm). Bafu does his
thing and I try to do mine... whatever those things are exactly.

I've got your twitching quill... RIGHT HERE.

Steve, Steve, Steve (that's 3 chugs)... that's just not true. And
remember, I am at the University of Virginia, and Mr. Jefferson's Honor
Code strictly forbids lying. Besides, I'm not out to impress people... I
write for the sheer love of the craft. Why do you do it, just to impress
people and inflate your ego, YOU FUCKING SELLOUT???? Easy for you to say,
Mr. Goofy Clever Sarcastic Flamboyant I-am-the-catalyst-of-the-Ytsejam,
with 'jammers licking your feet, worshipping you as a god, calling this the
Bafujam, reveling in your personality cult, throwing in their "obligatory
Bafu references," using "Fucking Idiot" as a term of affection and
admiration, naming their first-born children and pets after you... HAH! I
scoff at your grandiose self-projections of the Reigning Fist through
pretentious Zen simplicity and see you for what you really are. To you, we
are but lowly serfs in your vast Duchy, immolating ourselves before your
Borzillerian form, gazing in wide-eyed, uncomprehending wonder at the
Offerings that the Mighty Bafu Vai places before us. Yet where is the
weakness? Where's the integrity? Where's the truth? Where's the soul?
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. You're just basically all
fucked up is what it comes down to in the end. But then again, I guess all
of us are.
May my adamantium armor shield me from Bafu's mighty dragon breath...
unless he realizes I'm JUST JOKIN'. And.....CHUG!!
But back to your original comment, Bafu, when we're talking about my
drawings, then your descriptions are eerily accurate. Long hours, pain,
suffering, sweat, bile, eraser dust, spilt ink, spilt dreams... yes, all
that and more, but then, I'm a better artist than a writer. The art web
page is almost done... just awaiting the release of AQ to begin the
blitzkrieg of propaganda and shameless self-promotion. (This doesn't
count.)
But man, I really can't figure out how to say "Borzilleri"-- does it rhyme
with "fury," "hairy," "artillery," or "Jedi"?
All this and more, on the next Bafu. Stay tuned.
Scott.

I think we should send our condolences to the family. However, people from the
other side of the world can't. So if anyone has an e-mail address that JP can
get hold of, send him a mail on all Jammer's behalf, or something of that
sort.
Or like can anyone set up a condolences page or something. I don't mind doing
it. Anyone can send a mail to my account with any message to the family and
I'll put something on my page.
I can't write a CGI-script to do it because my ISP doesn't allow such.

Wow, the more I listen to Shadow Gallery's Carved in Stone, the closer to the
top of my favorite bands they move. This is an awesome album. I hope they
tour.
They may be similar to DT, but SG is more keyboard oriented. For me a non-
musician the keyboards and guitars for DT are so interwoven sometimes I
find it hard to figure out what is what. SG, the keys are easily recognized.
Think about all the albums coming out this year:
new DT,
new Fates,
new King's X,
KISS unplugged, possibly new KISS (sue me if you dont like this)
and of course, countless Mike Bahr productions....
still no tapes from al balkewicz...

Hi all
just a quick update to my entry yesterday, when I proposed a Bombay Vindaloo
cocktail, consisting of beef consomee, vodka and jalapeno peppers. It works!
I must admit it looked fairly grim, but it tasted pretty good, more of a meal
than a drink, in fact. Version 2 made with tabasco was better, because you can
keep trying it and adding more tabasco until the desired degree of afterburn
has been reached. Perhaps somebody could try to brew up a killer mixture based
on Jaegermeister, as Mike Portnoy seems to thrive on the stuff (barf barf).
I also dropped into my local CD dealer yesterday, and he still maintains that
there is no CD by a group called Superior. Can anybody help me out here - the
name of the label and order number would be a good start. While I was there, I
bought the new Skyclad album "Irrational Anthems" (see my posting from 22 Feb).
An excellent way to spend 35 Marks (or the equivalent in Francs, Dollars,
Pounds, Pesetas, Krone, Lira etc). Jethro Tull meets Metallica with violins
thrown in for good measure. If anybody out there knows anything about tour dates
in Europe, let me know.
OK, enough of this, I'm off to drink my way through my CD collection!
stay safe and happy listening

Ok for all those in favor of doing a DT cover compilation, please e-mail
me and let me know you are interested! Ben and I are getting things
organized and it would help everybody out if somebody knew all the people
who are doing something or another. Please drop me a post including
Name, instrument, and recording machine to which you have access.
4-track machines are fine, but DAT or ADAT is great! For the people who
are hesitant, don't be! There is no set structure to which you have to
contribute, you can do a different version of a song (like a rap version
of Take the Time, for an example) or maybe compose your own (like Ben and
Seth's idea of maybe doing Metrop. pt2)! In any case feel free to
contribute something;this project cannot go anywhere without numbers....
Jammers that have a musical advantage should strive to cover or create
more difficult DT songs so that those who aren't as self-confident can
still be a part of this without having their song stepped on. The more
of a variety we have the better it is going to be! So, if you wanna try
anything, let me know and go for it!!! Any questions or comments e-mail
Ben L. or myself, or back into the digest!!!
Peace out!

I know that on the bootleg, Mind Control, JlB actually thanks the crowd for
making the album go platinum. MC was recorded in Japan so I presume that's
JUST Japanese sales. Also, In the latest issue of the DT fanzine, MP says
that Awake sold 250,000 copies in North America. As for the other albums, I
don't know.

What's yer problem? Derek's a damn fine keyboard player. Listen to his
solos that he does before The Mirror and in Take The Time when they play
live if you want proof. He isn't the same as KM but surely this is a good
thing as he provides different influences to the band to allow their music
to evolve and develop. Although you're quite right about picturing him
having sex. I wouldn't want to either! Time to go...
