Well I know its about time but the ytsejam shirts should finally be reaching
your homes soon. I have sent mnost all of them and plan to finish them all
by Thurs or Fri. I have had nothing but Excellent comments from those who
recieved them and will definately be doing more fairly soon. There have
been many requests for more so if you want them, let me know. I also have a
fair number of extra tees so if you want one go ahead and let me know. I
will post a full "leftover" list at the end of this week. Thanks everyone!!

    Bye!

This is just a quick response to Mape. I wish I could help you out on
your little female troubles but I am drawing a blank. The only thing I
can come up with is an excuse but I am sure you would have seen it if
that was all. I can honestly say that I don't understand ninety percent
of women, especially when it comes to music.
DT content, anyone? Does anyone actually know how many of us
there are (I know someone said something before but I can't remember) and
what sex we all are? Just curious. I hate to continue the whole Derek
thing but I have to put in my two cents that I think he is a great
addition being that Kevin was a loss that could never actually be
replaced. I do not think that his sexuality means anything unless you
want to tell him to keep doing what he is doing because it is going quite
    well!!!

Have a good day all. Plato: music of the universe.

Yeah, but people were saying the same things about REM ten years ago, and Nirvana/Pearl Jam/etc five years ago. Don't give up hope on that one.

What the hell, dude? Where did you get this from? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Neil has a wife. Does he not? Just because he wrote a song like "Nobody's Hero" doesn't mean he is gay. In actuality, if you look carefully enough at the lyrics and open your ears, you'll find he was writing about a friend of his. Please get your facts straight before you post next time, ok?

    Sorry for the non-DT content...

First, John Ruddess (or however you spell it) was NOT playing at the 2nd Awake show, Derek was. I know because I was there. He wasn't too bad, although he was late with a couple of cues. Regardless, he was FAR better than I would have been if I had to step into Portnoy's shoes that late in the game. I'm glad to see that the "is Derek gay"-thing was meant only as a joke. It was a silly topic. Who gives a fuck? Although I am curious if it is true that Peart is gay, as some jammer reported. It doesn't matter, it's just something I wasn't previously aware of. Later.

I was chatting to Bruce Dickinson earlier today, and he completely and utterly failed to comment on my DT t-shirt :-( I was secretly hoping his eyes would light up, and he'd start talking to me about how much he loved singing with them and having them on his radio show, but alas . . .

Anyway, his new "Skunkworks" album is quite nice :-)

Man, I get your point, put don't deface the name of DT by even mentioning such horrible joke bands as Nirvana on the same page. This band and the millions that followed its noisy, untalented lead dragged music into an all time low that we just beginning to recover from. For the life of me I still can't believe anyone in their right mind ever bought one of these albums. (Just my opinion:))

Well, I don't care about Derek's sexuality, but I'll say this - your are gonna get flamed off your ass for that ridiculous statement about Neil you idiot!! Where the hell do you come up with that? Oh that's right, Neil confesses he's gay in Nobody's Hero - read the lyrics you twat! The man has been married since the 70's and has a daughter and has never said anything about screwing guys. Get your facts straight!!

    Scott Hansen curth@execpc.com

PS I must add that chances are that Derek is not gay - I'm sure Jason Breitweg (or is that Buttwug? :) ) will attest to Derek's having at least one female on each arm backstage at the Milwaukee (11/4/94) show.

Had a few responses to my first post, and actually found a nearby jammer! I've got the usual 5 CD's of any DT fan, but I need boots man! Maybe get me a copy or two? Ytsejam is great! And for those of you who still spell it ystejam...get a clue.

Commenting on DT's future, I am wondering what will happen if they do become as popular as Nirvana someday...do you think Weird Al will make a parody of one of their songs, kinda like Pull My Finger? An artist knows they've got it good when he starts spoofing their songs, so we know DT will REALLY have hit the big time. That's my prediction for DT's future...Weird Al will spoof a song, and who knows, maybe even an album cover???

    Hello Jammers,

    re:Letterman

Nope, Dream Theater hasn't been on Letterman, bumped or anything. King Crimson got bumped on Letterman over the summer while Letterman was in England and they later played on Conan O'Brian, so some people may be thinking of them.

    re:Content

Well since good old anarchy has returned, Jam content is going into the toilet, go figure. I'll have to hold my breath and see how long I last, if I turn blue by the end of the sixth digest in my box, I'll let you know.

    re:Progressiveness

I wouldn't call progressive rock a terribly challenging style of music to listen to on a whole. It is more difficult than a lot of pop, but there is a lot of jazz fusion that is more difficult than prog-rock. Deus Ex Machina's "The Republic" is damn hard to get into.

    re:Progresive Metal List (Erik Welty)

Erik's new progressive metal band list is up on my WWW site at

    http://www.gl.umbc.edu/~mbacko1/progmetal.txt

It contains an extensive list of progressive metal bands and short reviews. Just got it in my box a few minutes ago, revised 2/27/96. I still haven't HTMLed it yet so it is a text file in alphabetical order.

ore about all the shit i've read lately.

anyways, the guy who posted the fight against "dream THEATRE". reminds me of when i went to look for thought industry on those little computer thingys they have at your neighborhood tower records. i was scratching my head cause it wouldn't appear, and then i found it.....under "THOUGH industry."

    some people are boneheads.

been getting lucky here. i've been talking to tony massaro of torman maxt (remember them??) for a bit now, on and off, and we discuss little things like the state of prog, what prog is, and so forth...and hey- i got a cd from them today. i haven't heard too much of it yet (cause i have to revise my small ternary form piece and finish my minuet for composition), but the little i heard was interesting.

my vote for ytsejam king of the world. without a doubt, it goes to bafu. anyone who digs the iron shiek, and can hurt as much brains as the next guy just wins.

    bafu vai wins.........flawless victory.....fatality.

well, back to my comp work. peace out (gosh, all these people using that line, i should've copyrighted it ;-) ).

    check ya later.
