Just read the following and try to get a general idea about Stevie's self
esteem and just how God-like he really thinks he is! :) Be sure to note
that he only once mentions someone else's name, other than those in the
band, once :) I dare you to count everytimoe he uses the words "my", "me",
"I" and "I'm"!!!! He's just so damm stuck on himself!! :-) he he!!!

But remmeber, this is all in fun...I can do this because if it weren't for
me, he would never have done any of this. (Brandon and I were his ride up
    to NY!)
              ================================

    1) It is to much to quote but did you notice how much he mentioned that he
       made Dereck laugh!!!

    2) (This is Bafu talking to JP backstage)
    > His eyes narrowed again and he smiled at me as if an understanding
    > had been reached between the two of us. "Yeah," he said, nodding.

    3) (This is Bafu talking to James LaBrie backstage)
    > "No one ever erected a statue to a critic, man." For a brief
    > moment he stopped, focused on me, pointed, and said, "Yeah."
                            [some more BS]
    > At this point he was right in my face, pointing at my chest.
[BS, BS, and some more BS...]
    > I shouted and put my hand out to shake his. He firmly shook my
    > hand, and continued, "Until then, they're just amusing themselves.
    > You tell them that." What can I say, all of a sudden I was James
    > LaBrie's Internet Representative.

    4) (Bafu talking to Dereck S. when there is no one around him and there is
        around the rest of DT)
    >I patted him on the shoulder and added, "Don't worry, man, there's
    > about 2000 souls on the Internet who wish they were standing next
    > to you right now." He laughed again and looked at me for a second.
                                    =============================

GOD BAFU!!! You make me sick man!!! No offense but get off your self!!!
:) he he he he he

You know of course I am totally joking and still love you to death!!! All
hail Bafu!!! Long live the king! (Sir Bafu stands and jeeringly takes an
    unmodest bow... :)

    Just joking!

    Hey!

I figured it's time to relate my Birch Hill experience. We were dicked
over in a serious way... by a Ytsejammer!!!

Ldyicefire@aol.com offered us use of her floor/couch/apartment while Jay
Peele, Paul Lapinski, Doug Merrell and myself were in the area. But a
few days before we were supposed to arrive, she takes off for Illinois on
a whim to meet up with a cybersex pal.

Thankfully we find out before we had to leave, but when we got there, her
roommate looked untrustworthy so we bolted. Fortunately, a _very_ good
friend of mine who lives in the area was kind enough to offer his guest
room to us despite the fact that I called him at 2am! Needless to say,
she has inconvienenced several people, and that is uncool.

Don't y'all go form a Ytse-Posse to firebomb her house. We need to save
our reparations for the Fantazia Diner! But I did think we all should
know about how a fellow Ytsejammer shafted us, especially in the midst of
all the stories of how the jammers we've all met at the shows were way
    way cool.

So to everyone I've met, I wish you a great thanks for being so cool -
damn, there were so many of you, just at BH!

Bafu Vai, I owe you big-time for the backstage pass.

Brian Wherry is cool for introducing me to Nancy. :)

Oh well, it all worked out in a way that made this trip/concert the best.
Having come all the way from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, it better have been.

BTW, who the fuck was that Grizzly Adams looking motherfucker in the grey
    jacket anyway?!?!??!? ;)

It's now been nearly a week since I got back from NY, and the
trip was such a rollercoaster of fun and people, and my images are
beginning to fade as though it was all one incredible dream... here's
hoping for many more cons in the future, as Rush would say, "To make it
last." I couldn't believe how people from the Jam who should be total
strangers were hanging out like old buddies an hour into the con.

re Bafu's recounting of James' opinion regarding his detractors:

Well, Mr. LaBrie, I can't sing like you, and I am not up on the stage
like you, but that doesn't mean I have to like your singing style. I
hope you amuse yourself all the way to the bank with money I have spent
on every DT release so far, but I hope on the way you consider that
there are many fans who enjoy DT not for the vocals, but for the
musicianship. Count me among them, and count your blessings that your
BAND (no I in band, I might add) pulls in enough cash for you to live
    your life in realitive comfort.

My two cents, for what they are worth. -- Kevin

Hi everyone! I'll be in LA from Jan. 18th to the 22nd or so for
the NAMM convention, and was wondering if anyone else was going or
would like to get together or something....
             *****

I posted this earlier, last year, so just a reminder:-
Marc Bonilla - a Yamaha endorsee usually goes to the NAMM show
             (on the Yamaha stand).
Please, please, could you look him up on the stand, please ask
when his next album will be out. Tell him his UK fans really want
a new album (he seems to be writing for films now).
And please notice if he is wearing a hat, and which one ?

             Thanks Patricia

Just wanted all to know that my band Jester is now changing it's name to Dr. Baraka . The new material will be finished in March, we also added a new keyboard player so that frees me up to just sing and concentrate on the vocals and melodies. The new material is more progressive and heavier than the last CD titled "It's Time " by Jester. We have been playing the new material live and the reaction is over whelming and people say we sound like a mix of Queensryche and Dream Theater put together. Our new home page will be out sometime in the next couple of weeks with some audio samples of the new material , so when its out I'll let you know. If you want some more info e-mail me some questions at (pberesfo@eos.wincom.net).

    Thanks and later,

Someone asked about Mike's drums having the TAMA cardboard deals in front of where it used to say MAPEX on his kicks. I asked him about that after the Birch Hill show. He said that he had some problems with Mapex, and that Mapex lost their distribution or something (basically Mapex as a company isn't doing too well). So TAMA snatched him up, and he'll be playing Swingstars very soon. TAMA is currently making his shells for him...... maybe a custom DT graphic? As for the drums he was playing -- I, too, think it was his Mapex kit from the rest of the tour, but Mike Bahr's friend Jaison was trying to tell me (ASSURING ME) that is was a TAMA. I still think it was the same kit, for several reasons (email me and I'll tell you....).

Allrighty! That's all for now!! I have a bunch of other little bits o' information to pass along to you jammers, but I'm dialing up to my school account long distance..... eeeeeek! I'll wait until night time! Until next time!

    Jam on!

O.k., I'm kinda new at this, so don't get pissed if I sound like a geek who doesn't know what he's doing. I've recently discovered all you crazy Ytsejammers and have even more recently become a subscriber. My concern is this: I feel quite isolated here in Louisville, Ky. Isolated, that is, from being able to get my hands on bootlegs, Mike Bahr stuff, and the like. Any other Ytsejammers here in good old Louisville, home of the Kentucky Derby? If not, anybody else care to show me the ropes?

Well, I guess I can't end my letter without the obligatory quoting of lyrics, so here goes: "I want action tonight, satisfaction..." Oh wait, that's not Dream Theater (it's a joke, get it?). For some real lyrics I'll quote Mr. Portnoy: "Seasons change and so can I..." Thanks, Scott Daugherty srdaugz2@ulkyvm.louisville.edu

I too waited in the cold for 2.5 hours. At first i blamed the club, but the the owner of the club told me that the bands equipment arrived very late and the drummmer was not pleased with his sound so we had to wait until it was right. I dont know if the drummer was dream theaters or pleasure crushes, but i was pissed. It was 12 degress out there. For safety reasons they should have let us in. On the other hand the concert was excellent.

went oover to mike's pad and got ##'s 8 and 412. on the way back, pull me undre was played, and i was pumped. i'll keep the review brief, so there will still be some suspense for everyone. i figured out why status seeker and light fuse so rarely. james, i dont think, likes SS. i have only listened to it once but he REAAALLLY seemed to be coasting. he also didn't sound to great on that fast part in light fuse. outside of that everything was very good. james was a bit low in the mix sometimes, and there is a noticeble hiss on most of the stuff, but nothing quite as bad as gorilla session. for me, the high points were killing hand. i thought it was a great job by james. TLF was also outstanding, although i was hoping for the extra verse which was present in the studio version. the artwork is interesting, the cd itself is the best looking yet, but i think the liner notes for AcDr were better.

Hearing about the Christmas shows is great. I was seriously thinking of heading up there from NC before I found out I would be going south instead. I'm in the marching band at UNC and had to go to the prestigious CARQUEST BOWL. Jeez, of all the things to miss DT for. I was so sure we wouldn't go anywhere at 6-5! If there's any evidence that there are too many damn bowls, this is it!

Some say that DT will come further south in the future - I'm there. At least I'm graduating so next year I won't have to go somewhere like picturesque Shreveport, LA for the Poulan Weedeater Independence Bowl.

DT is still by far my favorite band (although that Beethoven guy is creeping up) and I've upgraded my stereo to do them justice, so it's not like I'm abandoning them.

    Time to go.

Hey, it's nice to see Al Balk-something up and at 'em again. Good show man! Glad you patched yourself up again.

(Oh yeah, my alma mater might take this account away from me soon. I'll be back with another.)

    Toodles! Glenn

    Hey everyone!

I#ve been receiving the jam for a couple of months now, and I've finally decide to post a message of my own. This is me: Arne Sturmer I'm German lived in NY for the past 5 years, 'cause my dad got transferred there by his company Now I'm studying engineering in Aachen, Germany Play bass guitar (Tobias 6 string! Like Myung used to.) Big fan of Myung as well as guys like Steve Bailey (my biggest idol right now), Michael Manring, guys like that Went to see the Malibu show, loved it, despite the moshing, and that fucking guy in the Primus shirt (I like Primus, though) who had to gor surfing like every two minutes... I thought James LaBrie was incredible! Sorry I couldn#t make it to the YtseCon, Trey, but a few more friends of mine wanted to also come to the show, so I had to pick them up, it got later and later, so we thought we missed the whole thing (I didn't even see your BAD NEWS post, 'cause my Email goes to Germany) Right now, after reading a bunch of the post-show-posts I could kick myself for not going to more of them!!!! Anyway, sorry to bore you! Hope to meet some of you, ecspecially some bassists sometime!

Yesterday I saw a Savatage show. Great! Al Pitrelli is an amazing guitarplayer and Jon Oliva was playing the keys. Ofcourse he sung some songs like Gutter Ballet and Hall Of The Mountain Kin and Sirens! I know the owner of the club/venue and had my Acoustic Dream CD with me. They played some songs through the FOH. Like flies people were approaching the mixing desk to find out where that cd came from, even Al Pitrelli and Dan their stage manager wanted that cd and offered me 200 dollars, but I said 'No Way'. The sound engeneer (forgot his name) told me he used to work for Dream Theater and told me he got a whole bunch of tapes... I'm desperately waiting for some copies! I know Savatage have their own webpages (16 Meg) and Dan the stagemanager is the webmaster.

O.K., no DT content, but has anyone heard these guys? From what I have heard, which includes one tune on the radio and several snips from the Net, they REALLY sound like a RUSH, if RUSH were a Top 40 band. Does anyone have any input before I plunk down some cash on them?

Will anyone who is very familiar with America Online tell me how to get on to #ytsejam? I'm kinda new to the internet and have been hearing about #ytsejam for the 3 months I've been on the jam, but am not sure how or if I can use it. later-------------Brian

OK, I know all of you "lucky" jammers had fun at the 4 shows, but some of us weren't fortunate enough to be let in due to misunderstandings, such as being told at the box office at the Malibu that college IDs would be fine to get in, only later that day to be denied entry after 2 hrs+ in the winter due to only drivers liscences being accepted. When I came back from Long Island, I was ready to feel pissed as I read about the shows, that was a given, but COME ON! I'ts been a week already and you guys are still going on about it. It's bad enough I have to think about not seeing DT for another year. Do I have to read about for that long too?!?!?!?!?!?! later--------------Brian PS-To anyone who was looking for me at the Con, sorry I left early. Next time I'll stay longer.
