Actually, they are. I remember how the EoJ thing started...Bafu got one a
long time ago, and somebody said something like "The post has so much more
effect when it has 'End of Ytsejam #blah' after it." Which is true, I guess.
ID4 was cool.
Jewel is cool.
Not flaming people is cool.
Dream Theater is cool.
Dream Theater content is cool.
Dream Theater food puns are cool.
Not pooting is cool.
Urinating all over somebody's white silk couch while they are sitting on it

Bye. :-)

just got home from that weird new movie about aliens. i liked it. it was very
disturbing, but i really liked that alien flick.
but right now, i don't care. i need someone to answer the next few questions:
a) whoever mentioned vernon reid opening for crimson, i need more info. i was
under the impression that crimson was doing the h.o.r.d.e. tour, and
according to this web place called "pollstar"
(http://www.pollstar.com/search.htm), it pretty much mentions them on dates
coinciding with that travelling show. if crimson is doing their own thing, i
would like more info. thanks a lot.
if you do indeed get the chance, by all means, see both bands! i don't know
about crimson, except for the rave reviews here and elsewhere, but vernon was
incredible.
b) i read in the ibanez newsletter that they were finally putting up a web
page very soon, and i was wondering if anyone had info as to url's, or
whatnot.
that's all. if you're going to see pfunk in central park, check the guy in
the crazy top hat wearing shorts and doc martens. tell him you love and
worship him, and i will bless you.
peace, and watch them 'crackers on the 4th.

jeez. next thing, i'll hear that petrucci is singing with them. can't wait to
see some dolt make THAT obvious bit of sacrcasm a full-blown rumor.
and that stp stuff. that too! tony macalpine? yeah, right. no diss to whoever
posted that, but seriously now, I'D have a btter chance of joining that band
before tony did (kinda picture it like vai in green day).
the kurt cobain quiz was a mixture of hysterical laughter, and really
disturbing stuff that hints that the author needs to chill, and let out some
of that bitterness. so what if nirvana and friends took over the music world
and pushed prog rock, the "heir apparent", out of what little limelight it
may have had. we're still here! as much as i hate courntey love, i question
the taste of the particular quiestion concerning her. i could also say a lot
of shit about the last question, but i won't. i'm not gonna say, "that guy's
an asshole". i almost agree with some of the things about kurt. but so what
if the fans of "poor, misunderstood" kurt don't know what "tasteless" is.
maybe in his bitterness towards nirvana he failed to see that he was pushing
the envelope likewise. whatever. i'm not quite the moral majority, and at the
end of this story, i simply couldn't care. maybe i was making some
observations.
whatever. fuck it.

Just a question for those who might know the answer. Is the Ray Daniels
who manages VH the same Ray Daniels from RUSH's S.R.O management? That could
be an intriguing combination.
Alice in Chains singer in VH? I don't think so! That would be worse
than Hagar.
As for the radio thing, I didn't realize I was speaking for so many. I
guess most of us feel the same way about "Popular music". I for one have
sizeable buying power at 24 years old, and I think these corporations should
listen to me. Most of the people in my age group grew up with "Heavy metal"
around so why try and kill it?
You have until Sunday to send me your thoughts on the battle

OK...here are the ones I remember off the top of my head:
1) Black Jester "welcome to the moonlight circus"
These guys smoke! Actually, I did hear one song "mirrors song" and decided to buy the album just from hearing that song. I think DT fans would like this disc.
2) Gothic Impressions "The Par Lindh Project"
I read about this in a catalog. The CD was described as "the brain salad surgery of the 90s." So I had to buy it. There is this 20 minute track on it called "cathedral" which has a very cool organ intro. Really good stuff! ELP fans should pick this one up.
3) Ivanhoe "symbols of time"
I heard all the great reviews by this band so I decided to get it. I don't like them as much as I should. There are some really good songs on this CD, but others I can't really get into.
4) Magellan "impending ascension"
I heard many good things a while ago about this band on the jam. Again, there is an ELP/YES influence. These guys are good!
5) List
I was at a Best Buy a few weeks ago and they had all these classical CDs for $2. So I chose List. I'm not much into classical but I like what I hear.
The next CD I am getting that I never heard before is Boud Deun. I hear that they kick ass so hopefully I will think so too. I missed them at ProgScape though. I did get to see Braindance. They were cool.

Hi Jamjars,

>1. Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstacy > > A friend was really into her and recommended this CD, we have > similar musical tastes (about every genre is in our collections) > so I bought it. Great CD, Tori fans should dig this.
Actually, there is quite a rivalry between these two, at least there is in the Sarah newsgroup, and many of her fans don't like Tori at all. I was quite surprised by that since the lyrics of both artists deal with social and personal issues. She has 2 earlier records. The first is entitled Touch and contains songs that are more folk oriented in the sense that acoustic guitar is prevalent in the albums mix. My favorite two tracks from this record are VOX and Out Of The Shadows. The second record, Solace, is more similar to FTE, using a wider tonal palette and more complex arrangements. The best known track from this record is probably Drawn To The Rhythm. My personal favorite is Into The Fire. There is also a live video baring the name Fumbling Towards Ecstacy. It was shot in April 1994 in Montreal on the supporting tour and is a MUST own if you like her music. Sarah's songs, like those of many artists, truly come to life in live performance and this is a set containing every song I could ever want to see her perform live. Oh! By the way Mike, don't forget that the last 4 minutes and change of the title track from FTE contains the Piano only version of Possession. Finally, for those of you who still enjoy listening to modules, Necros (Ex Psychic Monks, Five Musicians) did a Screamtracker (S3M) version of Possession using the piano and vocals from the last 4+ minutes of FTE and adding the remaining instrument tracks himself. It is an interesting take on the song and is quite well done. It's also a 1 meg file so be certain that your player can utilize XMS or EMS.
Cheers,
Rick Toronto
