hmm, i haven't figured out how to quote with this program yet, so
    here goes:

that whole fingerstyle bit at the end of LiT sounds really jazzy
to me ... if I listen to it with my eyes closed (or the tape copy I have
;)) it reminds me incredibly of a saxophone line ... (aside from double
stops which are kinda hard to do on a sax...:)) ... it's like,
Funk/new/jazz ... wonder how much money DT could make playing at newage
jazz clubs ... cuz that band can JAM ...

            STOP the UUENCODED/WINMAIL! PLEASE! :)

hey, i was playin DT at work, and one of my former coworkers
(eheheheh) said, "What is that shit? IT sounds like 80's hair metal.
Guys aren't supposed to be able to sing that high ... they can't even
play, you can't even groove to it! it sucks! turn it off!" ...

well, ya can't please 'em all ... then there's the *other* guy whosaid

"man, that fast guitar playing thing is old ... " from a guy who
listens to really really BAD dance/techno music ... anyway ... <sigh>

and yet another comment I heard: "DT is just regurgitating
yngwie's hits-that-never-were with a little chunk. it's all been done
    before"

I believe it was Rip who mentined Fates Warnings The Ivory Gate of
Dreams, and its similarities with ACOS. Well the fact that the first parts
are both called "Innocence" is just the beginning. Both songs are about the
same length. They both start and end with the same accoustical intros and
outros. Hell even the lead ins to the outro's is the same. Oh yeah one last
thing, they are both by kicking bands.

The voting is done. The Star Destroyer won the battle in space over
the Enterprise by a margin of 19-4 I thank everyone who participated,
    you're input was greatly appreciated.

Go see Independence day if you have not all ready. I still think a
Star Destroyer would defeat one of the alien crafts, and the "Executioner"
could take out the mother ship. If that could not than the Death Star
could(The one that was destroyed in ROTJ)

I have discussed this privately with a couple of other users
here, and am now of the mind that it may be a packet handling problem
at AX.COM, related to some sort of a sharing violation in the server
which controls outgoing mail traffic. Skadz, is this a possibility?
Please note that I was not launching a personal attack on
anyone here. My intention was only to remind subscribers not to post
binaries to the Jam. The randomness of the posts made me think that
the improper content was deliberate. I am no longer certain of that
and I apologize if I unintentionally offended anyone.

Well, not necessarily...I started a game (and once, only once) and it
started playing "The Silent Man." I almost thought that it would cool down
my temper (hehehe, Tempus's Temper, I like it) thus making me half the
psycho, and making me play nice. :) Then I realized it was the first level,
    and calmed down.

Now all us Quake Awakers need is is the guy who did the Doom2 DT level
(.wad) is do a Quake Awake level! And make sure it only plays the heavy
songs on Awake! Anyone other than me think that this is an ingenious idea?

It looks like the infamous Win95 Exchange "this text should be colored
black" goof-up. I have sent the recent "offenders" instructions that should
help avoid this, so we'll see what happens.

It's not really their fault. They just believed Microsoft knows what
they're doing. Which was their first mistake.

I dunno how the hell this happened...
"Gelezen" (in the subject) means that it's been read... (Dutch)
"RE: Help Locating CD's" was the subject line of *my* Ytsejam #1674...
I think my provider screwed up... It sent a message that I've
received Ytsejam #1674... Hope this isn't going to happen with
every Jam from now on... :( Then I'll have to unsubscribe, until
it's been fixed... Sowwy for the inconvenience...
Skadz ? Any thoughts as to why this happened ?

I think the same thing happened to Sinista... His message was
called "Re: (U)MYTSE-Con", which was probably the topic of his
    Ytsejam #1675 digest...

I didn't do it on purpose to piss anyone off... It might seem like it,
after Rick Terry said this, just before *my* post :

Tull, I think, is clearly prog. The guys can play, the employ elaborate
arranging techniques (long songs!), and have mixed genres throughout the
history of the band (the first Celt Metal band!). I remember the
aforementioned prog poll -- seems like Yes, Marillion, and Genesis did well.
Rush fairly well, DT and other, more metal-leaning bands did VERY poorly, in
comparison to bands like IQ, Anglagard, Pendragon, and Camel. There were a
couple of other bands, not necessarily Orthodox prog that got a mention, as
well: The Lost Souls and King's X come to mind.

I think that bolsters the notion, though, that there's a prog cult as hung
up on obscurity as there is an MTV push to popularize certain musical
trends. Listen with your ears, folks, not your eyes.....

The Sam Taylor sound....King's X, The Galactic Cowboys, and Atomic Opera DO
have a similar sound. Atomic Opera's a little like The Beyond -- awfully
good, hard to find, but you've got a good chance to pick it up out of the $1

Ok today I bought the new I mother Earth album. I hope most of you know
who they are, because if you don't then you are really missing out.
First off, they opened for Dream Theater on there Awake tour. Second,
this is there second album, and you all have had more then enough time to
get there first. And finally, the lead singer along with Alex Lifeson
created VICTOR, and if you don't have that album you suck and you don't
    really deserve to live.

Now onto the album. It's good, real good. Better than there first
album. It's called _Scenary and Fish_. It is very blues influeced and
it is very good. Did I say it was good yet? If you like Alice in
Chains and Rush, this would be a good mix of the two.

They do thank Dream Theatre in the liner notes though, which I think is
important because Eye Mother Earth opened for them :) .

Ok on to Jawbox. I hope some of you know who they are. They got there
start on Fugazi's label, Discord, and are one of the best punk bands to
come aropund in a while. They are not shitty punk though. They have
very insightfull lyrics and great vocal harmonies. If you like bands
such as Quicksand, and Helmet... check these guys out. BTW, as a bonus
track on there new album they do a cover of Cornflake Girl by Tori
Amos... so it is like really a must buy. The album is JAwbox, the band
is Jawbox. Connect to Desoto Record's homepage for more info.

And finally I hate to say stuff about this and to talk about this, but
should I expect to get tapes back from Brian Cox. I never said anything
bad about the guy. He agreed to make these tapes for me. Can I at least
get them back, I spent like 15 bucks on the whole deal. I know he might
be busy and shit but it's like 15 bucks, and if he just mails me the
money that would be find too. Can anyone help me out on this or give me
any info on this. Sorry, to bother anyone with that (like you Brian),
but I just want a straight answer.

    Thanks.... andy

Am I the only one who thinks this sudden barrage (sp?) of MIME and Base 64
encoded stuff is someone's new attempt at spamming the jam? It seems to
be happening a bit too frequently to be an honest mistake. Maybe I'm
    just paranoid.

Geez...some people really need a hobby...
