    In brief: get it. :)

Is it just me, or have other people not been able to connect to irc.dreamt.org? If this has been posted already, I'm a bit behind. Skadz-is there a problem or is it my server (a definite possibility)? Next, Mike Bahr: did you recieve my latest email? I don't think it sent, but I'm not sure. I thinks that's all.

I wanted to say that Manowar also has a song thats around 28minutes long, in like 8 different parts. i think they should split the songs on the cd up, its easier to listen to than having to fast forward on your cd player. But one song, kinda lame, why not a couple extra ones as well, at least let the cd span more than an hour if thats the case, or include a live track.

I saw the Scorpions and Alice Cooper last Sunday here in Vancouver, FUCKING AMAZING...I had to leave around 10 songs after the scorps played though, had to work the next day but holy shit, they did a ton of classic songs. Opened with Tease Me, Please Me and the last song I remember was Hit between the eyes, which was absoltely incredible.

I met the scorps bassist for all of 2 seconds, it was so fucking loud in the arena, I just pointed at him and put out my hand and he shook it.

Alice Cooper was amazing, he was funny as ever and just put on one of the bestshows I have ever seen. There was one song where he was singing about some sorta fight and Klaus and a few friends came up on stage and proceeded to have a rumble on stage, absolutely hilarious. Reb Beach and Jimmy DeGrasso were incredible, the set list was excellent, ALOT of classic songs. He ended with Vote for me, which was cool.

The opening band opened up with Iron Maiden's the Trooper, being the Maiden fan I am, I shit myself silly, I still have the smile on my face, too bad the bassist did the bass line different, oh well, not everyone can hack a steve harris part.

Anyways, this had to be the BEST concert I have ever seen in my life, go see these guys live. Even if your not that big of a fan, you'll be blown away, totally incredible energy and just a smoking show. Mathias Jabs was flawless, so was Schekner, I never knew Klaus could dance so well and the bassist, who's name I can't remember right now, is calm as hell when playing but he's a wicked player. Great Drummer too.

    Mark

One Track! if they dont do it on one track it just wont be one song! thats the extent of it... i still dont look at IGoD as one song... i just cant cuz its so split up! if they had a 60 minute song cut up into 12 tracks i wouldnt call it a song... i'd call it a regular cd with 12 songs

    >My wonder now is how FW are gonna make a song coherent across twice >that duration. IMO, only two bands have managed to do a coherent song >more than 20 mins:

    >Dream Theater: ACoS >Mekong Delta: Dances of Death

i suppose youre excluding 2112 from that statement because everyone here knows of it... but bands like Iced Earth, who had a 17 minute song, Dante's Inferno, and Manowar, which has like a 30+ minute song, can still pull it off. besides, one of these days Beefquad-X is gonna write an 80 minute song.. maybe longer

    Hi jammerz!

I just got echolyn's "as the world" and i mother earth's new cd's. speaking truthfully, i'm a bit disappointed with both of them. echolyn is really different, but i'll grow into it. the vocals are really cool. the whole type of music is new to me. it is very ... hmm... jazzy, i guess. very progressive. kinda like low key dt. i mother earh's new deal is ok, but still i like the old one more. i was waiting for more of a heavy feel to it like the earlier record. this too will grow on me (or maybe not) but nevertheless, they're both very interesting. i hope that superior's cd is cool, 'cause i'll probably check it out too.

Man, one of these days, I am *going* to hear Dream Theater on WIZN here in Burlington.

Here's the story: I'm a major fuckhead, so I'm awake at 3:00 in the morning even though I have to be up at 7:30. I'm listening to the radio, and I hear "Three Strange Days" by School of Fish. (Anyone else know these guys? They rock. Mojo, remember hearing that one that summer in Baltimore with Bob S.?) So, I call the DJ to commend him on his good taste. We get to talking. I ask him if he has any solid tour dates for Rush. He says a friend of his at Atlantic, who's friends with Ged, don't know nothin' other than "album and tour in the fall." I tell him I can't wait, and he tells me that his next Rush show will be his 27th, his first being on the A Farewell to Kings tour.

OK, so the guy's a Rush freak like me. Cool. I figure my stock question might go over even better with this guy than it has in the past. "Have you heard of Dream Theater?"

"Man, those guys rock! Seen 'em twice in California." Now I'm psyched. I start telling him about the list, and he should subscribe, yada yada yada. "So, can you play some?" Now, mind you, every single other DJ I've spoken to at this station (the good one of the two here in Burlington - sad, isn't it?) says, "Oh, you know, they're not in the playlist, etc." This guy says "Man, I'd love to, but I have to play this Pete Townshend special at 3:00." This was at about 2:58. "Well, when do you work next?" "I dunno, I just fill in for people." ARGH!

Well, suffice it to say that I'll be listening to the radio a lot more often, waiting for this guy to get on the air. Then I'll bombard him with prog requests (DT first, of course, then Rush, then maybe some Crimson, Anacrusis, who knows? Hell, this guy'll play Superior for me when it comes out!) Wish me luck - I think I'm going to get DT on the radio!

And, who knows? Burlington, besides being a college town, has a really strong music scene, built upon some great, open-minded musicians (ex. Phish). This one DJ (with my help :) might create a following among some music-types. Other DJs and the program director might see all this prog in the playlist... well, I, for one, live in hope.

Any ideas what I should ask him to play? I figure I'll start with PMU, since it was the big radio hit. That or Lie are probably my best choices. Opinions?

Oh, yeah, sorry for rambling, but I tend to do that at 3:00 in the morning. :) Hey, at least it was non-flame DTC. :)

Oh, one more thing - Bolo has created a really good looking Jam web page at http://www.cs.pdx.edu/~schnoor/ytseweb/. Go check it out. Now.

    I would say avoid both.

Run From The Fans is from an FM broadcast from Wembley '92, however it plays 30% too slow or something along those lines. So unless you have a good cassete deck with a pitch control, avoid it. Go after "Rush 'N Roullette 2'. Its a board from 1/30/92 Oakland, CA

Also stay away from Northern Hero's. I believe it was recorded on the opening night of the CP tour. Its about as bad an audience recording as you can get. Very muddy and hollow sounding.

Try critical mass, or better yet a independantly produced disc titled 'Animated'. The guy that did Animated advertises in Goldmine regularly. His name is Jim Peters.

Animated is a 1'st gen board that was a DAT straight off the board from 5/7/94 Toronto (Last night of the CP tour).

I think Meg has reviewed both discs. The NMS web page is 'syrinx.umd.edu/rush.html' then go to the bootleg cd reviews.

Sorry for the lack of DTC. I just saw a few people asking about these boots and though I might help clear it up.

First of all, commerialism is a word not associated with FW at all. FW puts out sophistocated music that the weak minded can not even begin to phathom. Thus, whatever they decide to do with the indexes has no bearing on the commercial success of this album. I think they should put indexes in though. The Ivory Gate of Dreams is one of there best song with Ray in the band. What of DT's "The Big Medley" on Seasons? 6 songs rolled into 1. Most of the songs I dig, but would rather skip a few.

    Up the Indexes!!!

    Hi there!

In the last few days, the progressive metal band "Threshold" has been mentioned twice. To make my message short: In case you are interested, check out my Threshold WWW page:

    http://www.uni-mainz.de/~kasper/Threshold.html

Sorry, no pictures yet (this will change), "just" info text, album reviews and two links. Opinions are always welcome.

    Thanks
