This should be first in a series of posts. I am trying to keep the topics
    separated.

There is a strong possiblity that Jon Oliva and Chris Caffery of Savatage
will be in attendance at the Peoples Pub July 19th for the ETHYL MERTZ
show. I am not sure weather they will be doing any guest playing.

Hey, if you see either Jon or Chris, tell them I said hi.

     Yt> Subject: About Angra...

First of all... Angra will start the Brazilian tour by tomorrow. They
are brazilian, but they spend too much time on Japan. :)
I'd like Dream Theater comming to brazilian edition of Phillips
Monters of Rock. Just a dream... :))

    > They have two albums that I know of, Angels Cry and Holy Land.
    Either

Yeah, there are only two. But if you like'em, you'll like Viper's
    _Theatre
of Fate_ . Is the first album and the best of them IMO (there are more
than one, but the band formation is other, not so good). The vocal of
this album is Andre Mattos, and the style is the same of _Angel's Cry_
     with many classical influences.

    > I know someone who has a France edition of the Holy Land album, and
    it
    > included an extra live acoustic EP featuring Angels Cry and two other
    > more folkloric portuguese (or is it spanish?) songs...

Portuguese. I didn't hear this, but I know that the Japanese edition
has one bonus track, "Queen of the Night", that's the first demo song
of the band, never edited on a CD before.
Here in Brazil I can find _Holy Land_ for about U$16,00, and this
Japanese edition, only U$45,00 for only one bonus song. :)

    > I hope that helped...

     Yeah, me too.

Unfortunately I missed the CNN clip on Jason.

I just wanted to let every one know that Jason's CD _Perspective_ is out.
You should be able to find it from a local store. If not it can be ordered
through his web site at http://www.guitarists.com. There are also T-shirts
    and a video available.

_Perspective_ is an excellent CD. Jason explores many new avenues of music
and does extremely well. Despite Jason's condition the music on this CD is
quite uplifting, emotional and postive. It is am inspiration that he is
still able to convey such postive outlook. As Chris Cafery and I were
discussing this, he said "...and some people get pissed when their cable TV
goes out..." Seeing what Jason is enduring really puts everything in to
persective for the rest of us.

Well, Well, Well. Seems people want to know!

well, me being the faith no more freak i am, i'm giving my 2 cents
<basically whether you like it or now, so just sit back and read>

The Real Thing is a pop album, through and through. It was made to get to
the "mainstream". You also must remember that Patton came into the fold
(after the Bungle OU818 sessions) with the album already made just about.
All he did was lend vocals. Besides, the videos are soooooo lame.

Angel Dust, imo, is the best album they've put out, and i'll even go so
far as to say that Angel Dust is one of the greatest albums of the
1990's. It has everything that you could possibly want from the Faith No
    More arsonal is here.

King For A Day is a great album. It's got your ballads, your rockers, and
Patton is more of a singer than screamer (as he was on Angel Dust). One
of the better albums of 1994, imo.

If any of you want Faith No More stuff, i'm your guy. I love FnM.

what the hell is this supposed to mean? i dont even know who you are
    and you are criticizing me???

as far as i know, the only people i owe tapes to are people who sent
me blanks for shows, and who i told i would get around to them when
i have time. i havent had time. real trades get top priority before
    "for-blanks" trades.

besides, i dont feel the need to explain myself to people i dont
even know that have no idea what they are talking about.

I hope these definitions will provide some more insight into the
    meaning of IGoD.

Acquiesce: To assent tactily: submit, or comply quietly; agree; consent.
from the Latin acquiesce( to find rest in)

Quietus: 1) a finishin stroke; anything that effectivly ends or settles 2)
discharge, or release from life. 3) a period of retirement or inactivity.

Well you can interpret this stuff as you like, but I must guess many of
you did not know the definitions of the afore mentioned word, I had to look
    them up myself(Gasp!!)

I play drums. Today I played for 3 1/2 hours, and I noticed that
everything was working just right. I have noticed that I have my good and
bad days. On my good days I feel like I am getting something done. On my bad
days I want to put my sticks right through my snare heads. I was wondering
if anyone else has this problem, or is it just me?

I happened to run across this merchandiser when I was at a record

only DT item at the whole convention was the Awake T-shirt.
They have a ton of other shirts as well including Metallica, Slayer,

Ugh, it's way too fucking late to be up, so here's my random thoughts:

Actually, this one's inspired by a recent post from our esteemed
colleague Mr. Daugherty, who saw the last Pumpkins show with that
keysman. You ever secretly wish that a band - mind you, not a great
band, but a I-won't-change-the-station-if-they-come-on band - would die
or something after you see them in concert, just so you could say that
    you saw their last show?

Isn't it, though? I first read that as having the words "trains" and "bricks" in it. Must be held over from a recent IRC conversation. :)

<< It's amazing what tricks the brain can pull on you behind your back. Anyone else got any songs like that; songs that they associate with stuff that has nothing to do with the song? Just curious. >>

This is totally off the wall, but while I was reading Michael Crichton's Disclosure, I was listening to Purple by STP. Every time I hear Silver-Gun Superman, I think of the sex scene with Meredith and Tom because I was reading that part while listening to that song. That type of thing usually happens to me with books -- I associate songs with books. Another weird one is associating Because the Night by 10,000 Maniacs with To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

which is the beauty of it all: it's neither "poorly organized" nor "haphazard". on the contrary it's very structured. maybe you just don't like that there are 3 or 4 different textures being presented at the same time. s'ok, i didn't really like it either the first couple listens. i found it was too jazzy, whatever that means. it's sad these guys had to split up :7

yeah, some of the lyrics are kinda cheezE but then again, so are some of DT's. like i've stated a few times, i tend to listen to prog for the music rather than the lyrics.

Some Cynic web pages may have links to the right one. Or I can wait and try and find the piece of paper I wrote it down on. He responded to all the e mail my friends and I sent him, and he's a real nice guy. Reinart is playing with him a bit here and there.

They've all been growing, both as people and as musicians... and believe me, from friends who know them well, these guys are not giving up on music. From what I hear, they're woodshedding a lot. Can you imagine the guys from Cynic becoming more proficient?!?

I missed the point (actually the beginning) of the Clockwork Orange Thread. .cause I am a bad ytsejammer who doesn't read all of the ytsejams the way she did when they were in ack format...*sigh*

I have watched the movie, and read the book (book first) I would recommend reading the book. Spend the time with it, because if you don't have a clue when you are watching it as a movie (which by the way doesn't really rate on any amazing scale...it is a classic...but hey...so is "gone with the wind..." theorhettically) and face it...it is meant to be disturbing...by knowing completely what you are getting yourself into (and the book does a real good job at that) you can keep yourself from getting sick...especially if you are weak stomached...

On another note... I am looking for Good Jap Anime... I have Windaria and Rei Rei..and I have seen Sailor Moon S, Totoro, Vampire Hunter D...(I know about Akira, but haven't had the time or money)...I am looking for them in Japanese (cause I need the practice)... Oh...there's an idea...if DT did a Jap Anime soundtrack (ok ok...I just did this so I could have some minor DT content...)

    Hey Hey Hey!

I went and saw Night Ranger Monday night at the Edge in Palo Alto, CA. All I can say is.........WHOA ! WHAT A SHOW! It was much better tahan I was expecting. This is the ORIGINSL line up (Blades, Fitz, Keagy, Gillis & Watson) and this turned out to be the first show of the tour. They opened with A Touch of Madness and played most of the singles; the only one I could think of that they didn't play (thankfully) was The Secret of My Success. The band was really tight and seemed to be enjoying themselves. The did an acoustic set where they played a Damn Yankees song (guess which one) and about three other tunes. I thought the acoustic part was a little long but was good. They closed the set with Don't Tell Me You Love Me, then when they came out for their encore Jack said they were only gonna play one song but since we wree so loud they decided to play a second song, which turned out to be an AC/DC cover (Girl's Got Rhythm). I'm kind of cynical so I don't think the AC/DC tune was spontaneous, so if anyone else goes to a show, let me know if they do any cover songs.

I'm lousy at writing reviews so I'll stop here. I don't think they're planning to do a new album since there were no new songs.

In conclusion. Night Ranger is one of the great pop/rock bands of the 80's, and they still sound as great as ever. I give it a solid 9.

Hmmm...interesting. Can be powerful if you can reflect that on your real life!

    >DiGiorgio was the best Death bass player, IMO. In fact, the lineup for the >Individual Thought Patterns album was my favorite. You had the excellent >playing of Hoglan, DiGiorgio's cool bass licks, Laroque's mind-bending >guitar solos (so complex, man. they sound like easy, but they aren't... >best lead guitarist for Death, better than James Murphy. Have you noticed >how the guitar player for Symbolic tries to emulate the Laroque sound on the >few solos he plays?) and Chuck did his truly first prog-death work on this >one. I didn't like the "Philosopher" single, though...

I hesitate between "ITP" and "Human" as far as line-ups are concerned. I preferred Reinert's more jazzy-lightweight playing (with the ride cymbals and stuff) than Gene's power. I wouldn't forget either Paul Masvidal (or is it Masdival?). He only gets to do 1-2 solos in Human, but the one on the last song is one of my Death-faves. That's a really twisted solo.

Rip: >yeah but now i can bitch the same thing back at you if i want :) jams >are quite few and far between lately, theres not much bandwith to waste, >besides, i had fun with my ridiculation ;) i was actually surprised to >get 2 jams this mornin'

Yeah, Death and dreams ain't much DTC but it makes up jams. Should I say sorry for the NDTC? OK OK....(heeeeere it comes)

    sorry ;-))

However, I don't particularly like receiving jams in two parts. Is there any way to avoid this?
