    Hey

I just saw STYX the other night here in Kansas City. Good show.
I was sitting kinda far back..and wish I was closer. (oh well...)

           It was a good show.

What exactly happend to the STYX drummer about a week or so ago?
Was it expected? (of his death)??

           Take care,

<<1. I don't speak English very well (shame on me) and can't figure out the=
words on LiT. Could you tell me what they are speaking about in the limo?>>

I haven't watched the video in about 2 months (Shame on me!) but if I recall
correctly, they were talking about who produced the album, "Images and
Words". They also talked about Jay Bernstein (or some name to that effect)
who played some wonderful impromptu solos for the end of "Another Day".

<<2. When the drum solo begins, there is a sample saying something (on ever=
y drum solo I've heard from Portnoy). Could you tell me what that is and wh=
    ere from?>>

The sample is, "Let's gets ready to RUUUUMMMMMMMMMBLLLLLLLLLLE!!!!!" (Let's
get ready to RUMBLE!, that is.) If you've ever watched the WWF (World
Wrestling Federation), they have a wrestling event called the "Royal Rumble".
"Mean Gene" Okerlund used to say it before each rumble until he left for the
    WCW.

<<3. Has anybody MIDI file (or the right transcription) for Queensryche's "=
Someone Else"? I think there is a lot of guitarist here and maybe they have
the tab for PL album. Is there a transcription in the tab book for this
    song?>>

I haven't heard of a tab for the PL album and I'm a pretty die-hard QR fan.
(Sadly enough, I know the ASCII code for "". [That's ALT-152 to the rest
of you!]) Anyways, your best bet would be to join the Queensrche newsgroup
    at:
    rec.music.artists.queensryche.
I'm on that newsgroup and even though they whine and moan a lot about who's
better, DT or QR, a lot of the people on the newsgroup are very helpful. I'm
sure someone out there in Internet-land has been bored enough to make a MIDI
    file of Someone Else?

Well, I hoped that I helped you with your troubles.

    Take care everybody,
    Bogie

OK, Listenning to WSOU here DOES leave something to be desired, like info on
NON loud music. Like I read here that Marillion is ALSO releasing a new
album?? I was a big fan of them in the Fish days, and their last release
(Afraid of Sunlight) was VERY promising. Anyone heard their latest yet, or
    is it even out yet??

I really wish I had something to say about DT, but alas, I have nothing new
to add. I appreciate the jam for highlighting otherwise unknown (to me)
bands that MAY appeal to me, and other news on Bands that I already like. So
when there is NO DTC, I think a lot of us can still have a lot of pertinent
things to share. Keep on JAMMING!

    ATTENTION RUSH FANS!

Now that I got your attention, I wanted to inform you all of a Rush bootleg
compilation tape I'm currently offering. Sorry I'm crossing over to the
YTSEJAM, but the Rush mailing list is sensored which means my bootleg offer
could not be posted. I figured this would be the next best way to reach Ruch
fans without having to use USENET.

Anyhow, what I did was create a collection of rare and underplayed music
by Rush dating back to 1974 and containing at least one song from every
studio album. I'm calling this tape project "Universal Panacea" which I
feel is fitting. I've included such goodies as early unreleased singles, a
live cover, and pre-versions of songs before they were completed for use
on the albums. The rest are songs that were only included in one or two
setlists and then dropped forever. It's a true collectors item, as I am
only making 100 copies and handnumbering each of them. Just to make
myself clear, it is a double-cassette, not a CD! Although this may be a
bummer for some of you, it allowed me to include exactly 179 minutes of
material. You really get your moneys worth. The cost is $10 which will
cover the two Maxell XL-II tapes, computer generated tape jackets, shipping,
and packaging expenses. Very little is going to me. I've calculated what
I've already brought in and works out to be less than $4.00 / hour for my
efforts. I've already shipped roughly 30 copies thus far with another 50
reserved. This means I am only offering 20 more copies + the ones that
people reserved, but didn't follow up on. It will be gone and never offered
again after August 19th (when I go off to college).

If you want further info concerning the tracks, dates, ordering info, etc,
please e-mail me. I don't want to take up to much space here as it is
non-DT related. The address is xanadu@cybernex.net.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Wanna hear something that sucks? Earler I called the radio station
97.7 HTZ-FM and requested the fantastic new King's X single - Looking for Love.

The lady there was surprised. She DIDN'T KNOW that King's X even
had a new cd out!!! She wasn't aware of any single!! Even though the tour
date was officially announced yesterday, she had no idea!!!

She said she'll look for it, but she's not sure if she can find it.
    I seriously doubt they'll play it :(

Required DTC: I am so excited for the new cd! The new songs
abbreviations may prove to be troublesome here on the 'jam. Examples:

LITS. People might think it is in fact "Lines in the Sand", others might
think multiple copies of the live video.
WAYN: Where are you now, or friends with GART?
AL: Anna Lee, might confuse baseball fans.
BMS: Burning my Soul, sounds like female menstrual condition.

Abbreviations, 'ya love to hate 'em!! (YLTHE)

            Michelob

"Then so many times, you practice in your mirror, to be just like
me, but you just can't see, YOU AIN'T GOT THE BALLS SON!!"

Sure, I'll do it-- at this point I'm doing the design for the YtseCon
shirts, & I've been coming up with several different ideas for designs.
After I finish the Con shirt & send it off (& not before), I'll turn my
attention to a Ytsejam Shirt Version 2.0, using one of my alternate ideas.
Probably something a little more Psychedelic and Artsy than the old shirt.
    Nothing too gawdy though.

So I'll do the art, and when I go back to school in a month, I'll scan it &
put it on my Web page, just to see if people like it and would actually
    want to wear it.

I can't print up the shirts, though. If someone wants to undertake the
printing & the Dealing, let me know.

I'm just back from the King's X/Galactic Cowboys show here. Excellent
shows by both bands, and an appreciative crowd much larger than I
expected. I don't have the new album yet (but plan to get it and any
    other King's X I'm missing :)), so I won't try to do an in-depth
    review.

They played for about 1 hr 45 min. and included all but one song from
EAR CANDY. They played the older songs you'd expect, and closed with
a Who cover -- not sure of the name, it's the song with the refrain
"I'm getting closer to my world." They went a little extra distance
for the crowd and they were clearly happy with the audience. The
crowd sang along perfectly to "Over My Head" with hand-claps alone
during the song for at least 3 minutes, and then a bit later started
it again between songs, to Doug and Ty's evident delight. I have the
feeling the Nashville crowd wasn't quite that into it.

Spotted in the audience was most of Early Warning and several
other local bands (alas, Early Warning is no more, either as EW
or their brief new incarnation, *sigh*; another decent prog band gone).

I spoke with Doug Pinnick before and after the show (and hung around
while he answered questions and expounded on various things :)). This
is their last record for Atlantic, who cut them loose from a 14-record
deal (!), so they're basically label-shopping. He implied this wasn't
their last tour. He also said right now is one of the happiest times
of his life. He also spoke at length about working with Sam Taylor
and then not working with Sam, which is one of the reasons why he's
    happier now. :)

He was realllly cool to talk to. If you go see them
(and I recommend this show highly), try to get to the venue early or
late; Doug and Jerry G. both held court outside and signed
autographs for an hour before this show, and Doug was outside
    afterward.

    In brief: well-worth a mere $12. :)

    > Well this one I can answer without taking out LiT. :) It says "Let's > get ready to rumble". It is a phrase said when someone is about fight > someone. It is also used in Monster Truck shows. Mainly, it means get > ready!! ;) Hope this helps you out.

John, thanks for the info. I couldn't figure out that last word "rumble". I was wondering why they say "Let's get ready to Rambo". ;) Now I can tell our singer to say that when we play CIAW (the same version that's on Mind Control).

Is there anybody who could sample those phrases from "Dead poet's society" for me? I would be very glad since we play ACOS but I can get the movie only in Hungarian. I could send the samples to my synth via MIDI dump so I could play those samples live.

    Peter
