Sledge bitched on Jam #1704 :

    > I am now fucking K-Lined for playing a joke.. i have no idea WTF all
    > of your problems are on #ytsejam but i just wanted to say "Why" why is
    > everyone thinking im an ass..

I'm a very openminded person... It takes a lot to piss me off...
But I remember my first encounter with Sledge on IRC, and all he did
was bitch at me, thus pissing me off... I even /ignore-d him, so that
I wouldn't be able to see what he wrote. I *never* did that with
anyone else... He's the only one that has ever really pissed me off
on IRC, except Tempus once... and YtseNeon one time... and... :)

Anyway, I wasn't there when Sledge got K-Lined (whatever that may be),
but I can understand why that happened... One hint :

     " I f U B - H a v e , U w o n ' t g e t K - L i n e d ! "

BoLo took the bait by saying :

    > I'm not SKADZ and I'm not in power over the IRC server... but my best
    > guess to why you were K-lined (if in fact you were K-lined, not simply
    > banned from the channel) is because you deserved it. The IRC server
    > is something that Skadz set up as a privilege, for people on the JAM
    > to come and converse intelligently. His decision is final, and if he
    > decides to K-line you, I'm all for it.

    What's all this crap about intelligent conversations ??? :) :) :)
    MOOOOOOOOOOOO ! :) :) :) (just kiddin')

Personally, I think Skadz is way too busy to bother with banning and
'K-line'-ing Ytse-Assholes... Someone probably pressed "Kick And Ban"
in pIRCh... Btw, pIRCh has an option to protect other people on IRC
from being kicked and/or banned... Personally, I'm gonna try and figure
out how to use it, and see if it really works.
Gotta protect our loved ones :)

    > Your comments (and actions) were just plain inappropriate. I don't
    > object to you returning to the IRC server as long as you can show some
    > semblance of respect for everyone else there, and apologize to
    > everyone on the JAM for your actions.

Cool ! A public apology :) That sounds sooo civilized :) Yuck !

/ME Apologizes for wasting this much bandwidth :)

    > Skadz, back me up here. ;)

What kind of tape does that require ? Should we ZIP you first ? ;)

    Cory's Ytse-survey :

    > Me and some guys on IRC hatched this mother of a plan. Here goes.
    > I want to profile the average YTSEJAMMER!!! I will take all your
    > responses and find what the average jammer is REALLY like. All you
    > have to do is answer these 4 SIMPLE questions:

I'm the kinda guy who responds 2 every damn survey, juzt 'cause I *know*
    no1 else will... That's Y I responded 2 Steven Young's top ten bands
poll, John McCabe top ten musicians poll and Zimbob's little survey
(how many albums do U own, & how many hours-a-day do U listen 2 music).
But I'm *NOT* gonna respond to this survey, 'cause I don't want
*ANYONE* to know that I :

    1) don't play any instruments (*that* one doesn't count!)
    2) am too smart for my own good
    3) hate sports & suck at every single one of them
    4) don't make as much money as I should :) But then again, who does ?

    OOooppss... now *EVERYONE* knows :(

Seriously, I don't think many people will respond to this survey, at
least not honestly (like *I* did just now). If you really want to get
a jammer-profile, I suggest you come up with a questionnaire with lots
of multiple-choice questions about educational backgrounds, money spend
on music (per month), hobbies, work, favourite kinds of music (metal,
prog, whatever...), etc. Using multiple-choice questions will make it
easier to fill out. It'll also be easier when putting together the
    results...

Instead of posting that questionnaire here, you should mention having
put one together and ask those who are interested to mail you privately.
Count me in :) I'm a sucker for surveys :)

About that first part... I Wuz Juzt Kiddin'... _|\/|
    Sowwy if I annoyed anyone with it. Pleaze Don't K-Line Me ;) |_(p' )

Commercial stations west of the Mississippi are assigned a 3 or 4 letter
call sign starting with K, and east of the Miss it starts with W. In
Canada, station names start with C, and in Mexico they start with X.

Just to confuse the issue, of course, non-commercial radio stations in
the US start with either K or W, apparently totally independent of any
logic whatsoever. For instance, my fire department's radio call sign is
KBH354, but it's in NY. Go figure.

    On to other news...

First, anyone that's planning on attending the JP clinic next Monday, e-mail me. A few of us are getting together at my house beforehand, so that we can take the train in from the Island, get some chow, etc.

Also: don't forget to send me your birthday and home page url if you would like to be included in the YtseJam Birthday Page. I hope to have my C code debugged by the weekend, so that I can get it all spiffy and functional. (I know, I know. What do you need a program for? Well, smart guy, it's so I don't have to re-tool the html everytime someone sends me a birthday. Rather than create a new table entry, I just type some text and run a program, and it creates 2 web pages for me. I just have to get my linked lists to play nicely. :)

'Tsall for now. And keep those YtseCon info requests coming. -D

I remember reading an article about 3 1/2 years ago when I was in England about the movie being banned. Now, I can't recall where the article appeared (it was in a sort of entertainment section of a British publication), but I do remember it mentioning something about Kubrick pulling the film in Britain. I also remember it saying that, at that time, it was still considered illegal to view or own the movie in Britain. I had attempted to find something on this recently for research on censorship, but the search ended up fruitless. Now, don't flame me for anything here. I may be completely clueless as to this. I have seen the movie (and want to read the book). It's pretty messed up, but makes some excellent points. On a side note, did anyone see the Simpsons episode that aired recently (as a rerun, of course) that had a reference to ACWO (I'm WAY behind on 'jams, so if somebody already mentioned it, I apologize)? It had a scene where Burns was trying to brainwash the Simpsons' dog into being violent. Hilarious stuff.

    More on VH....

IMHO Eddie VH could become a world-class guitarist if he'd loose those slackers and losers which call themselves his "band". He could also drop that zit-puckered teenage hormone music and write some stuff that shows some creativity--not the crap that sounds like real-fast shredding on a simple-simon tuna, er tune. But he probably wouldn't: he's making too much $$$ from simple-minded morons. IMHO

Sorry-no DT content, but a few comments on excellence in guitar playing, something that's common place in progessive metal, and that includes DT.

Ummm... really quick... I just wanted to say in regards to click tracks, you NEED them in the studio (And DT uses them) and they are helpful live, though generally the thrill of playing live keeps many people in time.

As for sequencing, Somehow I doubt that DT is using a sequenced track on the Fortune in Lies middle section. When I saw them play live I know they weren't, and further, when my band used to jam it, we did that part perfectly... and we can't afford sequencers.

Ack... my mail server may have posted my last message twice. I hope not.

Anyway, I wanted to say two things.... 1). I would be willing to play DT covers for the tribute, provided it's well organized and authorized by the band/label. I play guitar and have 7/8 years of experience. Keep us posted.

And 2). Does anyone know where I can get a digital copy of Queensryche's cover of Scarborough Fair? The people on the QR news page are rip offs. I don't want to have to pay $35 for one song. Maybe you guys can help. If anyone has one of the CD singles that has it, I'd pay $20 for it... or maybe it's on one of Mike's compilations..... I just want this song badly. I also want another copy of the Lie single, or any other digital copy of the studio performance of To Live Forever. Mine looks like it's gonna start skipping soon.

    T h e y a r e:

Raise The Knife (11:15) Where Are You Now (7:15) Take Away My Pain (6:35) Anna Lee (6:35) You or Me (5:55) Burning My Soul (9:00) The Way It Used To Be (8:00) Lines In The Sand (13:40)

As you see, over 68 minutes of new material to really whet our appetites! So it is time to start formulating those theories on their subject matter. Let the debate begin..............

Don't unsubscribe. First off, you can delete the jams after you read them. Second off, they don't take up RAM. If you are running out of space on your computer, try deleting a game or two. Jam's shouldn't take up that much space.

My standard line applies, as usual, "another winner mike, keep 'em coming"

this sucker's cool as all get out, but to tell truth I was sorta worried by the first part of disc one.....help me out, does it get really clearer as the boot (as a whole) progresses........Because i sorta posted a premature review to the nms, saying it's got (trademark boot noise)....sorry, Mike I'm listening to disc two now and it's got atwas and at times ESL/ASOH quality, really clear and so freaking cool it's amazing........the transition from hemi prelude to tom sawyer, holy shiite.....simple but incredible

A coupla bothersome points In Cold Fire: Mangled Tape syndrome takes out the vocals at points. no big deal......but #2) Why does the background in the song double agent sound like something that Bush might play (from about 3:00 to about 3:30).... listen to it and tell me it doesn't....I dare you! :)

anyway, if you don't have a reservation yet, by all means, get off your asses and reserve yourself a copy.....unless you're Neil Gallop or Bafu or the other non-Rush fans, in which case you're excused (yeah, just trying to be musically correct, and all inclusive.......)(don't ask me why)(I wouldn't know)

In my own opinion, it's been many years since Van Halen has put out anything interesting...I'm suprised more jammers don't agree with this...I prefer David Lee Roth anyday over Sammy...Sammy was really good on his own, but their music has really turned wimpy since he took over the vocals for VH... Plus, Eddie hasn't put out anything interesting on guitar. It all seems to sound the same.... I know alot of people think that Dave is more of a showman, but come on, songs like "Humans Being" and "How do I know if it's love" seem so tame compared to "Atomic Punk", and "And the cradle will rock"... At least every song wasn't a love song back then......Yea, Dave needs to stay off the booz, but he needs to give VH the kick in the pants that they need...Dusty

I see there was reason for Sledge's K-lining. Now, there's a problem with me being K-lined. I simply didn't do anything to get k-lined. I want to know who was responsible for having Skadz k-line me. I did nothing. Earlier when I went to connect, I just about had a goddamn heart-attack. I thought, why would my friends do this to me... :( There is conspiracy going on over in IRC-land.
