Hey, Jammers --
Anyone know if those "aahh"-ing voices at the end of LtL are synthesized
(i.e. keyboard voices) or real voices? If real, whose voices are they?
They sound kind of synthesized, but the higher pitches seem a bit
strained, like a human...

Please send the info as soon as you get it. Also, any idea how far it is

Just picked up the new Metallica, and...well....ok, I made the mistake of
listening to Master of Puppets
on the way to buy the new album. It's just not the same as some of the older
material. It's gotta grow on me
I guess. Some highlights: Ain't my Bitch, Wasting My Hate, Cure. If you
didn't like the last album I would not
recommend purchasing it. The band is really showing thier age. Oh, also
picked up Ivanhoe-Symbols of Time, only heard the first track, sounds cool.

Pre-emptive notice: The following suggestion won't help you resurrect a
scratched cd from the dead, but it could breathe new life into it.
If you've decided to give up on recovering a scratched cd, or not bother in
the first place, get a fresh one (new or used, your choice). "Gee,
smartass, I coulda figgered that out!" Yeah, but the next part is the real
idea--what do you do w/ the old disc?
If the disc is mostly playable, give it (or sell it cheaply) to someone
who's not a fan, yet. Swap the jewel box with the most beat up one in your
collection first (what do they have to complain about at that price?). If
they don't like it, oh well, have them pass it on. If they do like it,
they'll eventually have to buy a fresh disc, since the scratches that drove
you nuts will do the same to them. And the cycle continues.
This can help the bands that most of us like--bands that are great, but
spread by word of mouth, not airplay, and whose cd's are not readily found
on the shelves of (blecch) Musicland. It's recycling, with a better
potential to expand the band's fans than letting it sit in a used cd shop.
Besides, they're not going to buy the scratched disc in the first place.
I think I just made a new echolyn fan with this method.

Here's the question:
"
hey has anyone heard the band TNT? theres this one track the guitarist
does called Sapphire where he does this incredible trem picking i've
never heard anything quite like before. its been killin me all night
listenin to it over and over again, anyone else know who i'm talking
about?
~Rip
"
I'll let my lovely wife answer this question- she just cried for 2 days
because she couldn't find the TNT tape she made, and then her Walkman,
but then we found the tape in the Walkman! Yay! Take it away, sexy
mama:
The guitar player of TNT was Ronnie LeTekro from Norway. This band
doesn't exist anymore. TNT was pretty big in Japan. They were
typical cheesey 80's hair band, but I liked them then. I had thier
first vinyl.(When vocalist,Tony Harnel, wasn't with TNT) I am very
surprised that somebody who is into Dream Theater, like you, liked their
tune!!! Well, maybe just Sapphire.
Thanks, baby! Actually, TNT was a little closer to neo-prog than most
80's hair bands- if anyone remembers, there was a TNT thread running
through our own YTSEJAM about 2 years ago. You can still find their
later tapes in bargain bins, although their earlier stuff is more
interesting. If anyone's REALLY interested, the Kotobukiya Japanese
market in Cambridge, MA is selling their import concert video for $65.
(That's the only music item they actually have there.) Don't ask me to
get it for you, since I moved to New Jersey (Why? So I could pay $8000
per year in car insurance! :( ).
Also, someone recently mentioned "Captain Beyond", featuring Rod Evans.
Could you repeat what you said, or email info on them to me? Thanks!
Party on,

As some of you will know, I have taken over the running of the bands Fan Club,
(yeah ok, running is what it has *not* been for some time), things have taken a
turn for the better, and I am now in control of matters. As some of you already
know, I have been running the bands 'Officia' fanzine for some time; this has
now been incorporated into the fan club set-up. And I will guarantee you WILL
receive regular mailings!
A) All of you who are members already, you will be receiving your 'starter' pack
in the next couple of weeks. What I am asking you to do is, let me know whether
you have changed address in the last year or so, so I can check on the database
whether I have the correct one - I don't want to get loads of returns cos of
wrong addresses! So please let me know of any changes ASAP.
B) If you are not sure if you are a member, you can contact me with your
details, and I will let you know the outcome.
C) If you wish to sign up, contact me, and I'll send you the details on how to
join.
That's all for now, and I look forward to you being part of the NEW Fan Club
set-up.

I've found that keeping the cd player as horizontal as possible
keeps the cds from skipping. That only works with little scratches
though. With bigger scratches you will probably just have to get a better
cd player. I've got a portable cd player that will skip on any tiny mark
but my car's 12-disc changer won't even skip when it plays on cds that
look like they've been used as sand paper.
BTW, if Doug Merrel is reading this, where the hell have you been?!?!

Hey Kids!!!!!
Hey Moojo, kind of funny that your post about rip saying things
about cows came right before yours. I think you guys have fantasies about
cow tipping or something. And another thing. Two years from now, when the
Rangers are mired in last place, the Islanders ( minus the fisherman) will
be winning their fifth Stanley Cup, and if you hate Sports channel so much,
pay for M.S.G yourself!
Ben, I think that the problem with Scarred is not the bell, but the
snare and Bass drum pattern, he's playing on the "and" of the note, not the
actual quarter note.
Apt.Q258, Col Bruce rocks!!!!!!!
Not gonna post a top ten list, but I agree with D-man, No Alex
Lifeson is a SIN, just think, he influenced nearly every progressive
guitarist. Alex is certainly the most overlooked member of RUSH, and wrongly so.
Anyone know what kind of Ride Cymbal Mike used to record I&W? I have
the same one, and it is awesome. Any guesses guys?

If you can spend $12 on all the different products and be able to fix
CDs in the future that get damaged, that would save money over the
long run.
Not to mention that you can brush your teeth with more of a choice of
cleaning materials, plus you can make your car, truck, bicycle, etc.
look better.

There is no secret formula or voodoo black magic bullshit involved...
A few companies make CD repair kits. They usually consist of some liquid goop and some method to apply them, such as cotton swabs or little polishing cloths. If you look hard enough, you can find them at various stores that sell CDs.
