    Coupla things:

    1) Local paper did a nice memorial piece on Kevin Gilbert in the weekly
local music column last week. They mentioned that he formed a band called
NRG in the early 80's. Now, to dredge up another old topic, on the
Transformers: The Movie soundtrack one of the songs (Instruments of
Destruction) was by a band called N.R.G. The spelling is different, but are
the bands the same? I've lost the liner notes so I cannot check the
    members' names.

    2) Anyone else notice that the lettering of "ID4" on the posters/website,
etc. is the EXACT same font as used on the Fates Warning logo on Parallels????

    3) The Metallica fans I know in person actually like Until it Sleeps. Go
    figure.

    4) I forgot #4

    5) I need sleep.

I really thought that there was something for the #4 slot. Oh well.

Just so you people don't bitch about DT content...Jim spoke highly of DT,
and said there's a possibility of Kevin Moore doing some Keys on the new
album...but right now that's all pending. Alrighty hope I gave you a
little taste of the evening...and for those who are interested...DO NOT
E-MAIL THE JAM to get copies of the log...once again, E-Mail ME
    personally!!! Take care fellow jammers!!!

I wasn't at the Columbia show, but I was at the Milwaukee show on
Friday. I agree that it was incredible! Kansas is awesome & Steve
Walsh is a blast to watch (with his backward handstands on the
keyboards). Cool violin solos, too. Do any of you Kansas' new CD?

    About the whole Nazi thing...

I'm sure that we'll all agree that America is the best deal in the
world. But we all have problems with it, and as someone of
African-American descent I definitely have problems with this country's
past. So what if Neil made a joke? This place and its government is far
from perfect; laughing about is a way to deal with it. And about that
guy saying Neil is an asshole is being unfair to judge. Everytime that I
have asked a question on the 'jam, Neil has taken the time (TTT) to
answer it on private e-mail and he doesn't even know me. Doesn't sound
like an asshole quality to me. Let's drop this issue already; it's
    getting old.

Please ignore Subject. We like to.... 1. TNT Mape said, "Would someone tell me in what stage exactly Joe Lynn Turner was a member of TNT? I have four albums by the band (Knights...,Tell No Tales, Intuition and Realized Fantasies) but I see no JLT here...did JLT sing just a couple of songs w/ Tony Harnell or am I missing something here? A funny coincidence is the fact that the last drummer of TNT has joined Riot. Joe Lynn Turner sang on Riot's "Privilege of Power". Also, I must correct a little bit of false information here. Tony Harnell has been the vocalist of TNT all the way, ever since the

"Knights...". Someone told he wasn't with the band back then, but he must've been confused some way. Tony Harnell is not the man's real name. The name on the sleeve of "Knights..." is the man's real name. So there. Thus spoke your "cheesy 80's hair metal" expert Mape. BTW, I had a metal-only radio show back 1988-90. I should know my stuff. But if I don't, slap me. _Mape_" Consider yourself slapped. First of all. JLT sang some back-ups, never lead. Second, there was a singer before Harnell, and there was an album before "KOTNT." It was sung in Norweigen. One can still get it on import. Harnell is from the US. Read the liner notes from "Realized Fantasies" again. 2. Panama, Colombia and "vacando" Ernie said, "Ernie went out to buy 'Load' today. but Ernie didn't find it. silly Ernie thought that Panama would be considered 'the rest of the world'

but Ernie was wrong." What? You mean Panama isn't the US? Oops... Is that anywhere near "Columbia"? Actually, doesn't Panama' mean "plenty of fish" in an idiginous language? And by that matter, didn't they use to be part of Colombia? Rest-of-the-world indeed. Would "vacar" be a reflexive verb? "Vacarse" Sounds like trabajarse, if you know what I mean... 3. Just a little on the TNT-thing. Funny coincidence, actually: I've been routinely deleting the 'jams lately, without even reading them, due to time pressue :(. However, I was listening to Knights of the new thunder for the first time in years the other day, and it struck me that a lot of you jammers just had to get to know this band and Ronni Le Tekroe in particular, and was planning to post a little someting on the subject... Next time I looked at the jam, it seems a thread on TNT has been going on for a while. Weird. but ... the point ... something that was asked and commented by Ollila Marko recently:

    > From: "Ollila Marko" <marko.ollila@metsaserla.fi> > > > Would someone tell me in what stage exactly Joe Lynn Turner was a member of > TNT?

    - hell, I never heard of such a thing (and, due to my personal preferences, I would even hope it wasn't true!)

    > Also, I must correct a little bit of false information > here. Tony Harnell has been the vocalist of TNT all the way, ever since the > "Knights...". Someone told he wasn't with the band back then, but he must've > been confused some way. ..

    > _Mape_

The confusion might have arisen because TNT had another vocalist (Dag Ingebrigtsen) before Tony Harnell, and with him they released an album simply called TNT. I believe they also recorded more or less all of Knights... with Ingebrigtsen before they decided to change vocalist, and re-recorded the vocals with TH. Also, a song like USA, was released with the original vocalist (I believe it was on the first album, possibly it was only a single), and in Norwegian. The whole first album BTW, was in Norwegian.

I'm sure you Ronni le Tekroe-fans are familiar with the stuff he's doing with Terje Rypdal (I'm not too familiar with it myself) - a guy considered possibly Norway's top guitarist (Not Heavy metal - he plays mostly "serious, modern" music). Just thought I'd mention that project in case someone didn't know - there's a lot of nifty guitar-playing on their albums.

James will be working on solo material. According to him this was Chuck and Eric's call. This may not be a permanent decision, but it's the latest. Lars Ulrich suffered a horrible accident which resulted in the amputation of his left leg...

But seriously, I like the album. I almost neglected my daily DT listening for it!!! Yes, it's a continuation of the path they went down for TBA, but they've gone a little further.. It's definitely not TBA II. If you think of it as well-written mainstream rock by a band heavily influenced by Metallica, it's a lot easier to get into. ;)

Give the album a chance, especially, "Hero Of The Day."

    WOOUW!! :)

I love that ad. Looks like someone finally decided to make a cool deal out of those little silver discs. I've been mailing them out to people for almost a year now. Heck, a few of those folks are on this list, so maybe now instead of thinking I'm, like, WEIRD or something they'll actually thank me. Anyone still got theirs? Anyone? Everyone? No One? Odysseus?

First I'd like to throw in my last post with TNT content: I CAN'T BELIEVE so many other people out there were into/heard of TNT! More proof that Ytsejammers RULE!

Second I'd like to say that Rich Karsmakers brought up a good point:

He doesn't care about TNT, but I do, so he skips the posts and I don't. Some people like the top 10's and some don't..I just skip them. It's not that difficult, especially if you're using a windows browser with the little slider/arrow bar.

I don't find it bothersome to skip posts about other bands that I may not be into, but on the other hand, there have been some things in here lately (and you all know what they) that we shouldn't have to skip because they shouldn't be posted in here...you know, stuff that starts racial and religous flame wars?! Most of us Jammers are very opinionated people, and most of us are intelligent, so starting threads on those "tense" topics can really get us all pissed off. I'd rather see a top 10 or a post on some band I was never into....

    Peace, buster
