Kee Marcello? Are you choosing him based upon his work with Europe? I saw
him play a 5-minute solo once on some guitar show and he smokes! Good chops.
Then I listen to his work with Europe...it's not bad playing, but he
    definitely is not showcased well...

album with Alex Skolnick. I don't see him coming back... I personally like
    (in order):

    Edge of Thorns
    Hall of the Mountain King
    Gutter Ballet
    Streets
and the rest - Sirens, Dungeons are Calling (something like that - the 2nd
one), Fight For the Rock, Power of the Night

Don't EVEN go there with Rush. Rush (like Metallica, like DT, and like Yes) allowed their style to mature and progress in parallel with their lives. If any of these bands ever wrote songs just to write stuff that the teeny boppers wanted to hear, they wouldn't be around anymore. I dare you to write and record a song that the kiddies will buy. By the time you release it, they'll be on to the next thing already. The reason these bands are still around is because they write music based on their own feelings and emotions, music that is honest to them and to us, their fans.

Phew! Sorry for ranting. :) Uh, DT r00lZ!!!

You know what, though? The one thing about Load is that it really sounds (to me) like they're having fun. This is the kinda stuff they want to do. I'm not saying that all the other albums were recorded only for commercial success, but this just sounds like they're having a good time. People age...which may explain the haircuts, and Hero of the Day (<grin>...great song). Of course, then I see Kirk nearly pulling his pants down to show off his tattoo...oh well. This album takes a real blues form. The three shuffles that Brian disliked especially. For like the first time, the riffs are happy. Puttin' a few F naturals in that G scale...bluuuuues.

According to the new Rolling Stone, the LOAD cover is a piece from Andres Serrano called "Semen and Blood III". It's a mixture of the artist's semen and bovine blood. I think that's...

Has anyone heard any new info on when DT is hitting the studio. Should we expect a new album by the end of the year?

    And finally...

I was finally quoted on the 'jam, and by the MOJOMAN, no less. I can die happy.

    Awesome!!!

Well probably not to most of you but cool for me. You see:

I went to see a concert at my synagogue tonight. Art Garfunkel performed. It was a good concert, considering the fact that I do not own any of the Simon and Garfunkel CDs. Anyways, I see this Asian dude with really long hair setting up the drum kit on stage. For a second I thought I saw this guy setting up Portnoy's kit at the Birch Hill show. But I then told myself that there's no way that same guy from the Birch Hill show could be doing the sound for an Art Garfunkel concert...in a Jewish temple; it just seemed too unlikely. However, when I saw this guy at the end of the show, I decided to ask him if he ever worked with Dream Theater. He smiled and said that he's good friends with Portnoy and that he sets up his kit whenever DT goes on tour. He thought it was cool that there was a DT fan in the place where the Garfunkel concert was held. Just goes to show you that it's a small world and BALLS AND CHUNK IS WHERE IT'S AT.

I pray, but not because of the 'selling out' stuff. I think he sucks donkey as a producer... I was listening to some CD's that he produced lately: Motley Crue's last one and Skid Row's sUBHUMAN rACE... The production is AWFUL! Everything sounds so cluttered and extremely busy (I mean busy as in you can't understand what the fuck they're playing)...And the drum sound is horrible on SR's... I've never liked the sound on TBA either... especially the drums; they have this brittle high end that I despise. I think the only reason that they got a decent sound on that one, is because Metallica are such perfectionists (or should I say 'anal retentive'?:)) in the studio.

Well, for one he could have turned into moo-cows. And you notice how the 'hero' of the movie didn't do much? Yeah sure, just swing at an angel w/ an iron bar as if that's gonna help any. So then Satan has to come and do the job for him. Chosen one...sheah right!:)

    Hey Kids!!!!!

I received my copies of WDATU and AQ today finally. It seems that my mailman left the envelope at a house up the block and the idiots forgot to give it to me for three weeks. Well here are my impressions: As for the vocalist auditions I have only one thing to say; DT chose the right guy. I love the stuff John Arch did with FW, but I don't think he would have been the right fit with DT. WDATU is cool because I got to hear some stuff I have not seen DT play since early 1990, and if on OAMOT if you hear some freak screaming at the top of his lungs, it was probably me. I was at that show, January 2 1993. Two opening bands that night were Sahara, and Inner Strength. I was standing right next to the P.A. for I.S. I lost my hearing and voice for three days after that show. ACOS is cool hearing it in its unpolished original form. I have heard a better recording from th I&W sessions, but Kenny Myung won't let me record it from him (he thinks I might try and sell it to Mike Bahr). Anyways I am happy now. Here is the freaky thing about the Sparks show. The band came in the front entrance during the first opening act just like everyone else, and hung out with us afterwards.

    Here are the lyrics:

If I'd started from the top and worked my way down There'd be no reason to live forever

The starvation has turned me outside in And the wind has blown me halfway across the world

Why was I born in an age of distrust I'd offered some change for a photograph It will always stay the same, you will always be the same

Until I saw the desire for revenge my heart never once went astray As long as I have to die in the attempt Then there is no reason to live forever

I found you where they left you there A passing word that's gone forever And searching my memory for answers I saw the words of a letter you wrote She said "You don't have to live forever' You don't want to live forever" And everythings changing now I don't want to live forever

Live in Tokyo ending (begins after solo):

Until I saw the desire for revenge As long as I have to die in the attempt If I had to charge the attack Let me No reason to live forever
