I think the problem is that Geddy's voice varies a great deal from
night to night. I had no problem with the quality of the boot (I enjoyed
his giving the fans shit) but his vocals on half the tracks were terrible!
> Actually, that doesn't mean they didn't sell out. They are turning

Bands evolve and that's what Metallica is doing it. If people
don't like it they can exercise their capitalist right and not buy the
album. If Metallica were still trying to do thrash at this point in their
careers they'd be stale and dead (artistically).
>This CD is very, VERY well done. I think it just might have a permanent

>out. Plus, if Mike doesnt sell out, he will probably end up losing money
>on the deal.
I second that bigtime.. Antiquities is simply amazing. Even the
vocal auditions are listenable (well the last one is just funny). The live
version of The Mirror converted me to liking the song.. the two demos from
I&W were also neat and I'm interested in finding another version of "Don't
Look Past Me" where I can understand WTF James is singing :).
>Same with WDATU. I wont say that you cant be a true DT fan without these
>two, but it would be pretty hard.
WDATU was pretty good, I was just dissapointed that two of my
favourite tracks were the ones that didn't quite "come out".. the bonus
track easily makes up for it though.
BTW anyone got a copy of Acoustic Dreams for sale? I really want
to get my hands on this one.. anyone know anyone with a copy for sale? :)..

WTF is with all this bickering? i have tried and tried to ignore it lately, but when i joined the 'jam it was because we all loved DT, not because we all loved screaming at each other over sexual preferences. this is sick. we're a family here, this is ridiculous! give it a rest for god's sake! WHO CARES what someone's sexual preference is, WHO CARES if they crack a joke... HAVE A FUCKING SENSE OF HUMOR and none of this would happen. i understand that some people may have not appreciated the joke he made, but jesus, you don't have to start yet _another_ flame war over it. it's becoming a fucking daily occurence. if you don't like what someone writes, email them PRIVATELY and take care of it. not everyone needs to know. by the way, this was all, IMHO. (can't even post without writing that anymore for fear of being shot down) it's a fucking shame.

Heya all!
Well. The summer is ON and my to-get albums list is growing long. Due to the unexpected increase in the possibility of me actually getting a summer job, this list might become something more than just something I dream about. There are couple of cds here that I need some information on that I think you fellow 'jammers can help me with. These I have not decided yet if to buy.
Big D: "Skunkworks": Okies. He's small, his hairy, his my IDOL! It's just that I don't really like inertia (only heard it acoustic). If someone could email me if this is cool and how does it compare to, say for example to Balls.
Dokken: "Dunno":I am/was a big fan of Dokken the last they were together. I have all their records and went as far as buying Don Dokken's and Lynchmob's cds and yes, George Lynch was my guitar hero for a time =). I just wanna know about the lineup changes and how it compares to their earlier work.
If anyone would be cool enough to enlighten me on these. Please email me !
Re:MP's drum clinic-Droool,droool,drool!!! MORE of that stuff here!! I wanna know EVERYTHING on the new songs !!
And yes. This is a shameless attempt to bump the 'fi' domain a little higher. Mape has had to do all the work lately ;)
Catch ya later!

PS. You prolly noticed I'm trying to cut down on smileys =) ...oops. And Mithrandir: I need more questions ! =)

Hey Tori-philes...
My sister brought home a CD called "Ultra-Rare Tori." It's got something called "Y Kant Tori Read" in it's entirety and some other tracks. What the hell is this? I know it's a boot of some sort, but what significance does it have?

OK, I've established the fact that I basically like Load. I never said that It sounds like old Metallica. That will never happen again. Metallica is not Metallica anymore. On the first listening, I didn't like Load. But then I realized that they are good songs. I didn't like them because I wanted it to sound like Master Of Puppets or And Justice For All. there will never be another Fade To Black or another Sanitarium. But I feel that if the same songs were released by, say, Bush, people would be saying, "Wow Bush is getting good". But since you don't want to hear it come from Metallica, you don't like it. This is all IMHO, and its just my other cent.

Cool. Does anyone know if this is a ballad or a heavy song? I'm kind of hoping it isn't a ballad. (like Queensryche and Extreme). I cannot wait for the new album...

i guess everyones just having a hard time adapting from the hard fueled metal band that they used to be able to bang their heads to... but just look at the cover of the latest rolling stone. /me shudders i gotta say tho, that cover of load really hauls =) Serrano just rocks. another reason i think everyones pissed is the fact that theres already a million bands who are formatted for lollapalooza and the radio today and doing all that stuff and the fact that metallica's falling into this means one less outsider metal band and one more of the already infinate "MTV generation" bands...
agh, they just did one of those emergency test things and i thought it was my computer! that sucked, i was ready to smash the thing :) ~Rip

Whasssup you fucking DT freaks!!!!
I'm not going to write a whole review of Scenes from a memory, but rather just some ramblings.
Distant echoes: not really a song, but cool nonetheless.
Lifting shadows: I liked the different beginning (different lyrics). It surprised me.
CIAW: when you hear this version, forget about the one off of AWAKE. I was really confused at some points and I never knew which musical section they were going to go to next. This version is different from the AWAKE version in terms of arrangement. The sections are in different places.
ACOS: This version is similar to the one off of AQ. For most of it, Cintron kind of reminds me of Labrie. But I remember at one point he reminded me of John Arch. But I heard this once so I'll have to give it some more listens.
Oliver's Twist: This is probably the coolest track off of this disc. Everyone will recognize the song when they hear it. However, about 6:30 into the song, it will go off onto a tangent...an unexpected but cool tangent. I don't want to say what the song is because then you won't be surprised :)
Autumn Moon (AM): This song is awesome even though it's a minute. It reminds me of George Winston. I wish Moore would have expanded this tune into 5 or more minutes.
The sound quality on SFAM is very good. Especially on AM; it sounds like an official release.
BTW, my number for this CD is 21 just in case people are wondering when to expect theirs.

Hi , sorry for no DTC but I'm in a desperate situation. I plan on going to the Pantera / White Zombie show in Houston on July 12 but since I live in Monterrey , Mexico it is very difficult for me to get the tickets. I called Ticketmaster and they said they only had 3 floor tickets but I need 6 floor tickets so I was wondering if anybody knew of some other way to get 6 floor tickets for that show. I'm willing to pay a little bit more than the $27 they told me in ticketmaster for these tickets. Me and my friends here in Mexico were really looking forward to making the trip but if we can't make sure that we will get floor tickets we don't know if it's worth the trip. So if anybody would be kind enough to help me with this situation I would be more than grateful. Please E-mail me privately if anybody can help me , thanks in advance !

OK first things first.
Dave: I believe that Ray Alder sings " I'm all alone to" at the start of the first chorus on the song "Down to the wire". At least that's what I hear out of it.
D-Man: God has helped me, thank you very much. Afterall he did send me to a High School that allowed Girls amongst us guys. You do know what girls are, don't you? Heard in the halls at Chaminade " Brother, how come your robes are bulging? Shut up and just keep stroking, will you".
Tori Amos on the 25th, unplugs her vibrator. You mean she may actually sit still on the piano bench?
Raise the knife: I was played the afore mentioned song this weekend, and all I have to say is WOW!!!!!!! DT's next album will not be straight forward 4/4 rock. I must say I was very impressed.
Open question to all jammers. I'm thinking of letting one of my two friends with web pages have My brother-in-laws 1985 Kings Park yearbook, you know the one with JP, JM, and KM's pictures in it. Would anyone be interested in viewing what they looked like 12 years ago?
WildKoba: Glad to see you've come back to us. Now maybe we can get together and jam with Mojo, Its, D-Man, and myself.
Looks like it's going to be a long, hot, sultry summer!!!!!!!!!

A quick question for any New York/New Jersey/Connecticut Jammers who intend on driving up to Petrucci's guitar clinic in Boston; I'm strongly considering going up, however I really don't want to do the driving alone. Is there anyone going who wouldn't mind carpooling? I'd be more than happy to take my car. I'm really hoping I can do this, so if anyone can help me out, it would be much appreciated. Please email me privately.
Skadz: Believe me, I do feel somewhat awkward asking you this, but if it turns out I'm coming up to see the clinic, would you be able to squeeze me in your place for Tuesday night? I deleted my last Jam, but I do remember you saying that you were housing a few people for the night. If you could, please email me privately.
