First off, i didnt say sells out, i said rips people off. :)
secondly, i distincly remember within the last few years whenever i
went cd buggin' all the metallica was way more expensive than the
rest... yes i've seen the new one for 9 dollars so that cuts my
arguement off right there, but also i also just remember always
noticing their cds were a bit more, not from just one cd shop down here
because i go all over the place. i'm guessing though that i can go
down to a used cd shop tomorrow and pick up load for 5 dollars because
someone didnt like it and already sold it anyway :P

actually used cd places are great for bootlegs, this one joint down here
always has bootlegs for 15 dollars and stuff, i plan to pick up a few =)

Someone asked what the new song 'You or Me' sounds like. Well, from what
I remember, it doesn't really resemble anything DT has previously done.
It's definitely NOT a ballad. It was really hard to get a feel of the
song at the clinic, because Mike's drumming really over-powered the DAT.
I believe there was a good amount of keys (maybe why Derek likes it so
much), and it had a real good groove. James vocals were whispery during
the verses and then strengthened during the chorus, where I believe he
repeatedly sings the line 'You or Me'.

Now, please remember this is a loose description of what I heard. I
really wish I had taped it, but I lack the equipment to do so. Hopefully,
Mike will be doing some more clinics and offering a taste of this song. I
do know that it wasn't a long tune, probably between 4-5 minutes. And the
fact that it wasn't entirely complex, it's probably a candidate for a
release. Mike didn't say that, it's just my opinion.

Oh, and to answer the question of who sponsored the clinic, it seemed that
Tama was the main sponsor, since they had a Tama rep there to introduce
Mike. I think Sabian cymbals was also a sponsor.

Fanzine #10 popped through the letterbox this morning. Very nice! Lots of cool
info on the new album, and a trendy new font for the editorial ;-)

Hoping Neil Elliot can clear this up . . . what happens to existing I&W
subscribers regarding fan club membership? Do we just wait until this
subscription runs out before we join up?

    Oh . . . ummm . . . what's the name of Derek's side project bar band? ;-)

    something
    > to do with {SNIP}

Andy, It does...but it depends on what side of the water you're looking at
    it from....
People have different political views and trends....AND there are some
people in this country that believe that the growing tolerance of
homosexuality is manipulated by one of the political sides....
NOW BEFORE THE FUCKS THE JAM RESPOND TO THIS...
I don't necessarily fall with these people either....BUT from where I'm
standing, theres a great deal of PC in some of these subjects....and you
may not see it...I MAY be the only one on the jam that does see it that
    way.....
But you have to understand that some people do think differently than
you...AND that's what makes this country great....
I'm not going to start quoting and listing the bill of rights and other
ammendments to the constitution....because each and every US citizen on
the jam should know it....if you don't....
    Please read it carefully...good....
NOW that everyone knows the constitution, I feel it's very important to
get this out so we can kill this discussion for good....:
            Some people have different views....
If you have yours....cherish them...hold on to em....because they are
    yours...
BUT dont ever make the mistake of thinking they are clear cut right over
    wrong...
Abortion.....I'll be willing to bet half the jammers are for it...half
    are against it....
To you it seems very clear cut what is right and wrong....but to the next
    jammer...
            it's different......

To make it very simple....Even if you may be right....the other side has
    a right to breathe.......

My first post was out of taste.....Ill agree....BUT there was nothing
that said my post couln't be there...And sure...maybe I'll get some
flamage for it...but this thing has turned disgustingly stupid.....because
everyone is now fighting about who is RIGHT or WRONG....
It's no where near that easy......

CAN WE DO EVERYONE A FAVOR...LISTEN TO THE VERY INTELLIGENT WORDS OF
ANNA.....AND JUST KILL THIS SUBJECT???? PLEASE???!??

yesterday to find #066 in my mailbox!!!! Cool cd!!!

The Dominici tracks are quite good. They are way better quality then the
    tracks on Consciously Unreal.

    Oliver's Twist-you shall be surprised....

ACOS-Thank God, he isn't DT's singer... He is just missing something...

The demos songs are pretty cool too.

I guess I didn't really remember to listen to Kevin Moore's song. I must
    do that tonight.

    Another great Mike Bahr production...

i see the list of people who dig tori greatly increased in my absence. cool
(even the ytse-girl with the tori sig. i dig).

baldy, and as was mentioned by whoever it was last jam, you will dig tori
hopefully. you might not though. it seems like a love/hate thing with her. i
actually saw her in syracuse about a month ago, and i was a little
disappointed with her performance, but it was still good. and thanks whoever
it was who said about the tori unplugged. and no, she can play with the
vibrator uplugged too, whoever said it (that was funny).

new metallica- i don't know, growing up to puppets and lightning, and then
seeing that video and hearing what it sounds like now, i really don't know
what to think. i can't watch the video. it just hurts!

the yes magna tribute- so i was at a tower records one night (carle place,
ny), and what do i find? yep. i did. kinda odd that it was there. but i gave
it a listen. i hated the roundabout and starship trooper (i don't care who's
son plays in jeronimo road, but i didn't like). i did really like the south
side of the sky and the morse stuff though. a kinda decent album.

the fun things to do in nyc in the summer- anyone here going to any of the
    following (email me if so)-
    a) pfunk reunion july 4th
    b) macintosh new music festival

eliot- y kant tori read is her first album she made back in the 80s when she
was a hairspray queen (i hope your sister's cd has pictures- they are funny
as hell; if she doesn't have pictures- she got ripped off- tell her to send
it back!). it features people like vinnie colaiuta (drummer of zappa fame),
matt sorum (cult, gnr), and steve farris (inxs or mr. mister, i forget). it's
really horrible. even tori calls it something like "paula abdul and madonna
on a bad mushroom trip." (more or less accurate quote). but then again, it's
80s shit. and yes it's a boot, b/c they stopped making real copies of that
album (sold really bad). email me for more info if you like.

alrighty. peace out. and where the hell is bafu?

    funky fresh in da house!

I think you're talking about 'Garden Party in UK 1984'.
Disc 1 was recorded at the "Golddiggers Club" in Chippenham England
(a small club, not a large arena). Disc 2 was recorded at "Hammersmith
Odeon" in London. The cool thing about disc 2 is that it features an
early version of "Misplaced Childhood"-part 1, with different lyrics
and one song (Lavender) not yet in it. It does say that it's a limited
edition of 1000 copys, but I seriously doubt that.

I originaly wanted to reply to this privately, but this bootleg happens
to be one of my favourite Marillion boots. If you love Marillion and

A big load of cum? Or was it what first came (no, not a pun) to my mind?
    ..sickening.

And now I will leave you with the following quote from the new kick-ass Sean
Connery and Nicholas Cage movie, The Rock.

"Losers always talk about doing 'their best.' Winners just go home and fuck
    the prom queen."

    Hello!

    Life sucks #1:

I just went down to the record store and checked LOAD. Well, I was glad that I
had Ride The Lightning in the car CD changer... LOAD SUCKS, PERIOD!

I already expected a softer sound, more of a rock album, but I didn't expect
crap like that. Weak production (biggest surprise), though you can hear
the bass this time - what a pity the bass lines are more boring than 50Hz (or
60Hz for you Americans) hum noise... No good hook lines, no energy, nothing.
Just a big waste of time. And this is my fucking humble opinion, yes!

    Life sucks #2:

Dream Theater have demoed all finished songs now. I heard that FW's Jim
Matheos listened to these demos and said something like, he wouldn't like it,
it wouldn't be hard enough for him, the songs would sound like U2.

Well, I can't stand U2, so I hope he just overreacted...

Anyway, Dream Theater are heavily under pressure, the record company wants
them to become more accessible, or commercial, or crappy. Oh Lord, imagine
an album full of cheesy waste like Innocence Faded.

The same record company that did ZERO promotion for DT's singles in the past,
is forcing them to create boring 4/4 stuff like anyone else. And then they
will let the album die, like they did before. Did they ever push The Silent
Man? Did they ever release Innocence Faded? No! And that will happen to the
commercial stuff from the new album, too. What's all this radio stuff for,
when it's never played on the radio?

    Yes, I AM pissed off.
