    Hey, KIDS!

Just wanna say that I just read my latest Mouth4War digest (Pantera), and the
whole damn thing was filled with complaints about discussing Metallica on the
PanterA digest. Let's not let the Jam get that bad. I'm sure we can avoid the
obvious responses to posts x,y and z. What a waste of bandwidth and time it
    was!

I would like to mention that Neil Gallop is also on that list and is trying
his damnedest to infuse DT into every thread! :) WAY TO GO NEIL!

Finally, is you're hitting the Mytse-Con, GET YOUR HOTEL RESERVATIONS NOW!
Lemme kno if you need info. AND lemme kno when you've made your reservations
(including the number of people in your group!). It's only about $22/night per
    person! LATER-

    Steve

well, aren't we mature? i suppose you could ask my ex-girlfriends about
that. if you are trying to piss me off, you can't, because i won't waste
the energy that it takes to be angry at someone as ignorant as you.

hopefully no one will even dignify the rest of your post with a response.
grow up. there's no reason to purposely go around trying to piss other
jammers off. it's people who act like you do that cause things like
flame wars. have some respect, if not for others than at least for

Behold, the last thing that I shall say on the Metallica subject, and this
goes to anyone that doubts 'Tallica's credibility:

Do you have the exact same musical taste as you did 10 years ago?

BTW....Did anyone else listen to the Webcast Monday night? That was
    very cool.

I have to agree with DreamNDay that if some cheesy
grunge/alternative group released "Load" we would consider it an awesome
    album.

Did anyone catch the Internet gig they did? What was the set list
after Enter Sandman? I passed out on my bed after that song. That concert
was so damn late Eastern time. All I have is a 14.4 modem so I wasn't
able to get the live video clips and the audio quality sucked. Luckily I
listened to tallica 24/7 back in high school so I was able to tell what
they were playing. I heard King Nothing and Ain't my Bitch for the first
time through this and they seemed like songs that would kick ass live,
but suck on an album. I'm just going to wait to get this cd used for 8 bucks.

For people who say Metallica hasn't sold out, what does a band
have to do to sell out? Personally I don't see how Metallica could try
    any harder to sell out.

In order to see if Vegas Con would be worth the trouble, I am asking
any and all jammers who would be interested in coming to it to mail me
personally...I'd like this to happen since the chances of me being able to
travel somewhere else are incredibly slim. As a time for the Con, October

    Hey,

All you people out there who say Load sucks either:

    A) haven't listened to it
    B) were looking for The Black Album II
    c) wouldn't know a good record if it jumped up and bit you in the ass!

Is this album like Master of Puppets? Uh, NO! But then again this is
1996, NOT 1986! bands progress as time goes by (except for Slayer :) ).
Dream Theater hasn't done WDADU since 1989, and I'm sure when (if) the
next album comes out, it won't sound anything like the last albums.

This album is more Metallica then the Black album was. The Black Album
SUCKED! There hasn't been a more commercial record that I can think of.
Listen to songs like The Outlaw Torn, Wasting My Hate, Ain't My Bitch.
Hell, listen to the whole album. In fact, if you haven't listened to it
at least five times you have no clue as to what kind of record it is.
That's like looking at a car and saying weather it runs good or not.

Bottom line, If you're a real Metallica fan from the Burton era, this
is the album to get! They haven't sounded this good in ten years. If
you're looking for the IMO, you won't find it here. Because anybody
with half a brain knows that this is my opinion, and if you're too
stupid to figure that out, you shouldn't be allowed to own a computer.

    Hello from humidity-stricken MD,

I just read the post by the guy who said Matheos said
(whew) that the new DT would sound like U2. Can you imagine
the uproar if they were to sell out, too? (Like Metallica!) I don't
want to jinx myself, but I, for one, am knocking on wood (knock knock).
If you think the Jam sucks with all this Metallica broken-heart crying,
imagine if it were DTC, too! For DT fans who don't understand what
all the crying is about, imagine if your favorite band, which stood for
all you believed that you stood for, suddenly (well, not so suddenly)
became the antithesis of all that! Metallica popular amongst the
masses? Blasphemy! I realize they don't consult me when they
record music, but my God. This is the group which had "Bon Jovi
must die" (more or less) on their guitars. They *are* the modern
    version of BJ. (No pun.)

So, I finally got to see Live in Tokyo all the way through (I guess Mojo
isn't *totally* useless :) and something occurred to me: What if "Another
Day" got the radio and eMpTyV exposure it deserved? Would Dream Theater
have become the next Mr. Big or Extreme? Would JP have been shoved into
the "Where Are They Now?" rack next to Reb Beach? Would DT have been the
last hair band of the 80s instead of the first prog band of the 90s?
Something tells me that the band actually got out lucky by only having
the ballsier and chunkier videos released.

    Just a thought.

I sent this to Mike Bahr just a few short hours ago! **************************************************** Well, I know this is going to sound really weird when you read this at first but really take this message seriously. Also, I hope I'm not the first peron to bring this up to you. Because you're might think this I'm insane! Here goes:

I pretty sure you have heard about Kevin Gilbert death. And how he was to be the next producer for Dream Theater's next album. And I read in a recent 'jam that some guy was talking to Mike Portnoy. And little Mikey said that they don't know who would be the producer.

Right about now you should know what I'm getting at. If you don't I'll just say it. I think you should be DT's next producer. Now I'm not just saying this to get free CDs or because I want DT's new CD right this instant. Actually, those are great reasons to send this but...I think you are the only person for the job. Think about it for a second. Who has "worked" with DT on several CDs? Not too many people can say this but you can. Who has had more cheers on the 'jam for the production of a CD? Only you. Plus you're CDs are just amazing.

Now I know DT has to pick you to be the producer. But just bring up this up to them. Now I know that you are busy with your band, job, and those awesome CDs. But this could only promote your band, and your CDs. And you could probably quit your job.

    See isn't this a great idea! :)

I didn't post this on the 'jam because you be sent mail non-stop about being producer, maybe but I didn't want to chance it. I hope you take this seriously because it would be cool to have you as the producer!

    John

I sort of wonder myself. :)

    > Right about now you should know what I'm getting at. If you don't > I'll just say it. I think you should be DT's next producer. Now

Whoa!! That'd be pretty cool! Of course, I know near nothing about studio recording, but I learn fast. Everything I've done so far has been on consumer-grade equipment.

    > it for a second. Who has "worked" with DT on sereval CDs? > Not too many people can say this but you can. Who has had more > cheers on the 'jam for the production of a CD? Only you. Plus > you're CDs are just amazing.

Wow man... it makes sense the way you put it. Just for the hell of it, I think I'll call Don at management and ask what he thinks. Even if it's a friendly question, I am sometimes amazed at what results can come about from a friendly suggestion.

Feel free to post it if you like... Mike Portnoy, James LaBrie, AND Derek Sherinian all read the Jam. They might pick up on all the ruckus!! :) Thanks a ton for the HUGE compliment... hope your Scenes arrives safe and early.

Yep, Magna Carta must be a bunch of ripoff artists, all their stuff is like $16.00 around here! and what about all those import prog groups? None are on sale, all a buncha thieves if you ask me.

And what the fuck is up with all these bands making songs that don't please _ME?_ Don't they fucking know that _I_ am the center of the universe and if _I_ don't like it, it obviously sucks? Now, everyone bow down and worship the mighty _ME_. If you don't, and I am displeased, you're obviously a donkey-fucking sellout.

And, since after all, _I_ am the only being worth worrying about, I am going to be an asshole and not consider anyone's feelings and be generally rude and offensive. And, if you are upset by something _I_ said, then you're just a fucking PC pansy fucker. And that's my fucking OPINION, which, since it is _I_, is really a FACT, but I hope people will just let it slide since I hid behind the mighty O word. Not that _I_ need to hide, mind you, after all, _I_ am _ME_. I can make the mighty Metallica bend before my giant presence, I can surely break your little necks.

The precedding message was not a joke, but certainly was not my view on anything. Some people just really need a reality check, and this satire was a (probably useless) attempt to show them just how they come across to the Jam.

#1: Does anyone know what happened to Mausoleum Records? I haven't gotten any promotional stuff from them in aeons, and I called them to see if they had any updates on Wicked Maraya (yes, that's the source of my screen name and IRC nick) after I heard a rumor that they'd moved to Magna Carta, but the message on the answering machine was the same as the one they had a year ago. Not only that, no one's called me back in several days - they used to call me back within 24 hours of my message.

#2: Being that I have very lousy access to the Web (and not only that, I have to pay for it now - how insulting! <G>), would someone be so kind as to send me as comprehensive as possible list of *all* DT live concerts and other oddities, such as demos, edits, singles, etc.? This is not for myself, but rather for a Dutch fan who isn't online. I can convert almost any text format, but .wps (MSWorks) .txt, or .rtf would be the best.

    Muchos gracias. :)
