Subconscious is worth whatever anyone with cash in hand is
willing to pay for it... since Jim's replica copies are circulating, the
availability is up, so it might not command the price that, say, Acoustic
Dreams would. Hard to say.
As for Metallica "Load"... I say that anyone with a mind open
enough to appreciate Dream Theater, that dismisses Load, is a hypocrite.

sorry to bring this up yet again, but i felt i had to add my $.02.
at first, when i flipped through the CD booklet, i was appalled
that Metallica had so drastically changed themselves. i admit, they seemed
to have sold out. (anyone trying to be Dave Navarro?)
but after listening to the album a few times, i decided that "Load"
was, in fact, not bad atall. different, and not even close to
the older Metallica, but how many bands are there that sound
the same after so long? What about Rush? on "Caress of Steel",
Geddy Lee sounds like a Robert Plant clone, but listen to him now...
get it?

I haven't posted in a long time. I'm posting now to give all you
Ytsejammers a break from all this "Load" crap. (There-I said it) I haven't
had time to read the past hundred or so jams, so feel free to return to
reading more album reviews. I've finally gotten around to really using IRC,
and it's been great talking to all of you. On this subject, I'm still
trying to get pIRCh to work. Right now, I have to use File Manager to run
the .exe file. Any suggestions?
I still haven't gotten around to buying a bass amp, but I've saved
up most of the money I need in a month and a half. That's a long time for
me to not spend money. Right now, it looks like it's between a few SWR's
(Basic Black and Workingman's 15) and an Ampeg B-1. I'm going shopping
again tomorrow evening.
John Myung is (IMHO) the most forgotten DT member. It's strange
hearing people suddenly notice what he can do. Don't forget us bass
players; your music would sound like crap without us (notable exception: the
Doors).
Has anyone ever thought that some classical music like "Mars" from
the Planets, "Night on Bald Mountain", "Rite of Spring", "Sorcerer's
Apprentice", and Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" would sound great done in
a DT type arrangement? Yes I know that the rock ensemble wouldn't have
written it, but it would SOUND cool. We'd advertise it as being by the
original composers.......
I bought "Chasing Time" a month or so ago. It's my first Fates
Warning ever. Wow! I love the classical guitar in "Monument". By far,
though, the best song is "At Fates Fingers". I'm working on bass tab for it
as an exercise, but if I finish it, I'll post it to the Bass Tab Archive for
anyone who's interested. I've been told that the next FW I should get is
"Parallels". Not a problem. BUT...what should come after THAT? Huh? Huh??
Well, that just about wraps it up for me. Finally, does anyone have
the email address for Gateway 2000's customer service department? My dad
wants some Gateway literature, which means we may finally replace this
dinosaur. For anyone who wants to laugh at me for having it, it's a Packard
Bell 386 SX running at a whopping 16 mHz. 5 MB RAM, 80 MB hard drive or so...

Hey,
I have to give my opinion on this Load discussion. Yes, the music
is good, but the musicianship is nowhere near what they are capable of
playing. I mean, Lars playing straight 4/4? Was he in an accident or
something? (A little humor, don't get mad.)
If Metallica had released this album a year and a half after TBA,
I would have liked it more, but I have waited 4 and one-half years for
this album, and honestly, I feel cheated.
There are only a couple of songs on the album that are worthy of
the name METALlica. There is also, blues-rockica, country-westernica, and
of course, alternica. That's fine, but with over four years to work on new
material, I expect something a little more inspiring.
I an finished with this subject. It is all just my opinion. If
you disagree, please feel free to email me, and we shall discuss it.
Thanx for the time, sorry no DT content.

I would like to publically acknowledge that the song we were referring to
was "Bleeding Me". I didn't have a copy of the album here, and I foolishly
assumed that someone else knew what they were talking about. My error.
My comments about the song still stand, even if I don't know what the hell
the title is. :)

hello jammers
LOAD is not a crappy record, its just that I cant help thinking that Danzig has
been putting out the same stuff for the last 10 years. Go on - imagine Glenn
Danzig singing "2X4". See, it's not that hard is it!??! I never thought
Metallica would put out an album that sounded like anything other than
Metallica! But I guess I was wrong.
So here's to DT sounding like DT forever!!

well, part 2 of my "new albums that have raped me severely" phase. last time
i gave mad props to the vernon reid album and the craft soundtrack.
coltrane- "love supreme". never quite heard saxing like this. and maybe never
again. and i still have to listen to "giant steps." (btw, didn't someone say
that petrucci did "giant steps"?)
vernon reid- "mistaken identity". again, my asshole is sore from the guitar
violations committed by mr. reid. can't wait to see him tomorrow.
medeski, martin and wood- "friday afternoon in the universe". there's a lot
of noisy clutter, but once they get thru it, they play fuckin amazing.
another band i hope to catch soon.
fiucyznski/medeski- "lunar crush". far out jazz rock album that has some more
trippy shit and some awesome guitar work.
still have to hear "giant steps" and "out of the silent planet" (king's x).
whoever wrote "who's your daddy" the other day referring to petrucci made me
laugh really hard. that was cool. portnoy (i bet) has a leather collar that
says "john" on it, cause he's jp's bitch!
babs- is it that hot and ugly upstate as it is down? at least it ain't
snowing again, right? (we got snow in binghamton on may 10th).
.........wow, that could be taken as being really perverted.
whoever asked about dt doing karn evil 9, please email if you find out any
info, cause i'd like to know too.
alright. peace out.

Hey gang,
Now, I like bootlegs as much as the next guy, but does anyone else here think that stealing a to-be-released tape and spreading it around the net(re: KISS) is way over the line? If I had a 7" tongue and spat
blood, I'd be PISSED OFF!
My opinion of Tori Amos(because I know you ALL want it!): I like
some of her material, BUT when I hear her sing, she takes a breath after
each lyric and it sounds like she's sucking air through the microphone!
This noise physically gives me a headache, which is too bad, because I'd
probably buy an album of hers if it weren't for that. Does anyone else
have this problem? Is that supposed to be some kind of "musical
feeling" effect, or just a rotten habit?
What's THRAK ATTACK???
For our British 'Jammers(or anyone who knows): Can anyone tell
me what country the following address is:
Pagan Media Ltd.
Ceridwyn House
Percival Lane
Runcorn
WA7 4UX
Is that sufficient info(with country) to get a letter to them? Thanks!
Party on,

Just listen to yourself; who is the fucking idiot here? If you don't like
Load, don't listen to it and/or don't bother reading the posts concerning the
