    Sup Jammaz,
Zakk Wylde just released his latest solo album a few days back.
Anyone heard anything from it? I think i'm gonna go pick it up later,
considering that Pride & Glory album he did hauled major ass.... at
some points its almost like youre really listening to Skynyrd,
everythings got such a great jive, tunes like this havent been made by a
fresh band in years. Very cool track- Fadin' Away. Big progressive
piece done with piano, 12 string guitars and the whole Seattle Symphony
Orchestra. You dont get much better than that.

My highlighs from the night of the JP Clinic-

-sat around wishing i could make it up to Boston.

    welp, that about covers it.

    Hey all ...

Me again. I have been posting just all too much lately :)
Basically my post yesterday was not personally pointed at anyone.
I purposely did that. I am not going to point fingers. If I wanted
to point any fingers, it would be at myself because I have not had
the time or energy to try to calm things down before. I basically
just want this list back to what it used to be and hopefully it will
get back to that. 1635 was definately more content filled and
less Metallica filled. Some people may argue that Metallica is
related to DT, but ever heard something about a dead horse?

    Now for some replies....

    1633 ....

    Jim Beavens wrote:

    > I'm glad that DT appreciates us 'jammers (or if they don't appreciate
    > us, at least they tolerate us and are nice to us =).

Its definately the first part. They definately appreciate support.
Bands like Rush and alot of other bands enjoy alot more popularity
than DT and to them a fan is a fan whether he/she is on some computer
mailing list or not. Dream Theater is definately more appreciative of
their fans and I think they appreciate and enjoy the fact that some
of us are such die-hards that will can talk about them every day and
hardly ever get bored with it.

The only problem now is that I think we who were at the clinic on
    Tuesday scared JP :)

    BILL HUSTON asked about clinics....

We asked John the other night and he said that he was doing
one at Manny's in NYC in July some time and another in CT in the next
few months, but didn't mention anything other than those for himself.
He also mentioned Mike is currently doing clinics in Australia.

    John McCabe said:

    > Now for some info well I'm going to just cut off my Top 10 list
    > thing because in Skads post he said no new Top 10 lists :o

    SkadZ not Skads :)

The deal with Top Ten lists is that they clutter up the jam. Steve
from Tuscon did a top ten list the 100% correct way and I thanked
him for it. He asked people to send him their lists and gave them
a dealine and once it was all done, he posted results. It was perfect.
The only minor annoyance was that he posted asking for more input
    EVERY day :)

    1634......

I was wondering what it would take to get this warning... I mean, had I been Skadz (one can dream) I'd kicked some major ass already... Why dontcha 'warn' people who have a tendency to flame the hell out of others for no good reason ? Or people who are pissing others off, just looking to get flamed...

    > This list has really gotten bad lately.

To tell ya the truth, I've just been skipping posts for the past couple of weeks. To think I felt bad about not having internet XS, a few weeks back, and missing all those jams... After a while I just skipped every single message that mentioned 'M' (NOT Marillion, the other one).

A couple of days ago I unsubscribed 'Itchy' (itchy@dreamt.org). After my = provider's recent problems, I resubscribed using my dreamt.org address, 'cause I thought I had been 'bounced' off the list. Much to my surprise, I was still subscribed through my usual account, so I was getting every jam TWICE (the HORROR!). Unsubscribing 'Itchy' felt really good, and skipping all those posts made me think of leaving the list all together. I'm still considering it. Maybe I'll just do it, and resubscribe 'round the time the next album will be released... Please, don't be a baby and tell me to "fuck myself" and "get off this list if I don't like it". I'm just venting and hoping for some DTC or info on other cool bands, other than a zillions opinions on just ONE album.

Isn't there a way to set up temporary lists to discuss off-topic threads like that ? Skadz could give the info on how to join such a list, and get rid of it after the thread ends... Just a thought... Skadz ?

I'm willing to listen to any band that gets some bandwith on this list. That's how I got into Tori Amos and, recently, King Crimson... But this 'load' of crap really turned me off to 'M'. At this point I just feel like throwing up whenever I hear or see that name... Btw, I just saw a pic of 'them' in a Dutch music mag, and I have to say they really *DO* look like U2 these days... only a bit more angry/hostile/mad/pissed. Sorry, just IMVHO... No flames please...

    ..not totally off topic, but what the hell;

I managed to catch the last day of the PC Expo here in NY. This marked the first year in which they had a 'Music and Technology' section here at the expo. Guess who was doing the demo for Kurzweil?

Yep, none other than 'one-time' DT member Jordan Rudess.

Some of you might well remember the winter gigs in which he and Rod Morgenstein opened up for a couple of the DT shows. Well, he told me that their album is almost complete, after which they will shop it around to any interested record labels. Currently the duo will go under the moniker of RPM (Rudess-Morgenstein Project). He also told me that he is still involved with Dixie Dregs, who are on hiatus due to Steve Morse's commitment with Deep Purple.

It was just about the last place I thought I'd find him. Too bad I didn't get the chance to go to the expo on the previous two days, so more of you could check him out (most people watching the demo seemed too disinterested, but his immense talent and ability is, to me, jaw-dropping).

    >I've got another reason to propose: they've heard the material and it sounds >better than their versions! Couldn't it be possible?

Doubtful. As much "respect" as I have for Mr. Big and Dream Theater, I have serious doubts they could hold a candle to Rush.

    >I have a lot of respect for Rush, as it was my favorite band from 81 to 87 >(when I discovered Majesty...) and it is still one of my fav. But I'm >disappointed by their attitude, or more exactly the attitude of their >management. And allow me to think, regarding the list of the guys involved >in the Rush tribute, that the covers could beat the original songs.

Rush's attitude is that you do tribute bands for bands that are retired. It makes them feel their age (Alex in the BMG Magazine Sound Choice). And quite frankly it is their right to choose whether or not their songs are covered and sold for profit! This doesn't mean I'm not going to buy the tribute album, but I think you have a lot of nerve suggesting that every band that gets their songs ripped off ought to appreciate it being done!

    >This last reason could be a good one. They should have choose another >release date. But maybe the solution of this conflict will be to release the >tribute after the official album of Rush.

AFAIK, Rush doesn't want a tribute album. Period. When you think about it they aren't a very retrospective group. They didn't even approve of Chronicles (the greatest hits 2-CD). They just put out their live albums every now and then and that's it. Really makes you wonder if the boys will ever put out a box set, but so it goes.

    Hello Jammers,

I just wanted to apologize to the public about my posts concerning Homosexuality... After a little bit of soul searching, some personal discussions with jammers, and trying to understand exactly why I am here on the Jam....I've come to the conclusion that what I said was wrong....dead wrong.... Homosexuality isn't very much different from being a different race, religion or even liking a different type of music....as a musician and a human being, I shouldn't have said the things I did...especially if want to retain my own self worth. I know there are jammers out there that are different than me, and by being very pig headed, I've begun to alienate myself from the jam....something I don't want to do....

Again...those of you that were offend (hetero or homosexual)... I am sorry!! I ended up starting a tangent on the Jam that I'm ashamed of...If I were just subscribing, and I saw those posts, I wouldn't want to be a jammer....I think the long post by Skadz, a couple of jams back, made me realize that the ytsejam is here for several reasons....but NOT for insensitive posts...or irrelavent topics.... m o j o m a n s p e a k s....

P.S. Skadz...I hope don't mind this particular post not having any DT content....
