Being a fan of Dream Theater myself I think it would be nice to
have a "Dream Theater/ytsejam" watch. Since I can not find one myself,
who here would be interested in getting a DT watch as a group?

I have contacts with watch co...etc..etc..but the min order is
    about 35-50. Since I want one myself, I can't afford 35 or 50 watches.
(That won't even fit on my arms..eheheh..)

IF YOU are interested in a cool DT watch let me know via e mail.
The price range would be somewhere between 19-35 bucks. Prob more of a
middle of the road price. 29. maybe 25. Just depends on the order.
Of course there would be a sample made first for your viewing on the
net. I just wanted to get a general idea who might be interested.

If we could get about 30 people wanting one, then we could all
have a cool watch in about 45 days or less(from now). ??

tons of people on the west coast. I cant afford anything farther then
about 500 miles. So I NEED the YtseCon !!! to be on the west coast.

Those aren't the only mixing anomalies during ACOS, if you notice, there's
also a different snare sound in different movements of the song... they
used multiple sessions during recording and mixdown definitely...

Just want to let everyone know that a new and improved version of the internationally renowned Dream Theater "Unoffical" Song Book is ready for your perusal. Get a copy today, tell your friends... 8^) The best way to get it is from my web page. For those with no web access, you can retrieve it via email from the Ytsejam mailing list archive (see below). Thanks, and enjoy! The Dream Theater "Unofficial Song Book" is a complete listing of all Dream Theater lyrics (Official releases, singles, EPs, cover tunes, the Kevin Moore demos, etc.). It is available via the following methods: WWW: http://www.indirect.com/www/mkizer/dt/dt.htm FTP: www.indirect.com/www/mkizer/dt/dt_sb12.txt Email from the Ytsejam Mailing List Archive send: get ytsejam dt_sb12.txt Address it to: ytsejam-request@ax.com with a subject of: asdf If you wish to include links from your web pages, the name of the actual file changes with each revision (but I'll let everybody know when that happens). The WWW address listed above will not change (so that's a safe one). But the following are subject to change (when ever I find the time and/or new material to add): Dream Theater page: http://www.indirect.com/www/mkizer/dt/dt.htm ASCII Song Book: http://www.indirect.com/www/mkizer/dt/dt_sb12.txt HTML Song Book: http://www.indirect.com/www/mkizer/dt/dt_sb12.htm If you can't get a copy using the above methods or have any comments or questions, send me an email at mrkizer@ccgate.hac.com

    >> Currently playing: Judas Priest - Painkiller. Scott Travis should be >> locked away for being that fast! :-)

    >Scott Travis?? As in Racer X?? I heard "Painkiller" a long time ago and was fascinated by the drumming, but never got into Judas Priest. I've also been listening to Racer X's "Live Extreme Volume" for the last year wondering if "Mister Scott Travis onda drumkit!!" ever got into another >band. Now I gotta check out Judas Priest...

-Actually Scott left Judas Priest, when Rob Halford did, to -join Fight.

Scott and Rob left Priest to join Fight because they needed a change and the other guys in Priest, KkDowning and Glen Tipton, and of course Ian Hill but they were going to go back to the way they use to write songs, like Ram it down etc...Rob and Scott, both wanted to do another album like Painkiller, so, Rob was also sick of Tipton's and Downing's ego's, so, he and scott up and left.

-I've heard some of the singles off their -records, (one is -called _War of Words_ and they have one -more) and they -kick.

"War of Words" was the second single released I believe, "Nailed to the Gun" was first, and "A little Crazy" was last. Nailed was also the first video. The band does kick ass and I wish that they had released their second cd like the first one, but there are few songs on the new FIght that I dig. The 3 albums released were War of Words, then Mutations which was an EP of the last album with live material and also remixes of the albums songs. Very cool cd and its better than their war of words cd, the last cd they released was "A Small Deadly Space" which didn't do good at all, in fact it was a bomb up here in Canada and I don't know how well it did in the US but it was nowhere as near the excellence of their first. THe problem was that everyone kept comparing Fight, to Pantera in which both bands are totally different, I mean, pantera, to me at least, sux donkey balls now(FBD was a fucking horrible cd) and the 2 styles of music that each band plays, are too different to compare.

The only problem with this -band is that one of the guitarists likes to double -Halford's vocals death-metal-style. It's pretty lame; -thank God it's low in the mix.

That is what makes up the rythm of the band though, it's a vocal based band, not a guitar band so, to most guitarists, thats pretty dumb but to vocalists, it's pretty cool imho. The 2 guitarists kick ass tho and so does the bassist, man, when I saw them live, holy shit I was impressed.

-"Nailed to the Gun" is an excellent tune.

Yea it is and its too bad the band Broke up just recently BUT halford is forming another band.

I just got my WDATU --Thanks Mike!!!-- so I decided it was time for me to send my first post. For everyone that is waiting for their WDATU, mine was post-marked Mar.1 and got here today, Monday-Mar.4...This means Mike had sent at least through #435 last Fri. Just thought some of you would like to know.

I'll make this post short since a lot of you can't keep up with the large volume of issues here. Just wanted to say that Chicago would be a great place (for me and about 1 dozen of my friends) for another YTSECON. Do it anytime...I live in St.Louis and would be happy to make the drive.

Also, being fairly new, I missed the opportunity for AD and the Majesty demos (were the MD even sold over the jam?) and would love to get my hands on them. If anyone is willing to give up a copy, make a copy, or has any info. PLEASE e-mail me.

    Thanks folks-

Well, it depends on the feedback I get from the jam. Jammers, if any of you are from places other than NYC-Long Island-Westchester and plan to come to the YtseCon III, let me know through email.

It won't be too bad when it comes to getting a hotel or convention center in New Jersey, plus it will probably be near an airport. But, I need feedback!

I can add one other bassist who is incredible and doesn't know much theory but plays like a god, Muzz Skilings from Living Color, not this new guy Doug Whimbish who's all FX. Pick up Living Color's vivid, phenominal bass playing.

For those of you that have heard of it, there is a magazine called Korg Proview that comes out every once in awhile to owners of Korg stuff (Like me :) ) Well, the latest issue I got had an interview of Derek and what he's using and about the album and just about everything else!! First, I found out that he starting playing classical when he was five (I think he can play Liszt) and has been playing for about twenty-five years. At the age of 16 he took his G.E.D. and went to Berklee. He's very excited about the new album because he's never been a participating composer or been encouraged to actually stand out and play. He admits the the complex keys were hard at first but now he's getting the hang of it. He says this about Petrucci: "He has a precise, complex, musical mind and I've really learned a lot from him. Just by playing with him, having to be in this situation and having to learn his solos, it really pushes me." The new album is going to be a little less dark than "Awake". They're trying to do more radio friendly songs like PMU but at the same time try to get more progressive. Hmmm. . . In case anyone didn't know (like me), he read the jam a couple weeks after he joined and saw how skeptical people were about him. And for those interested, he's using the new Korg Prophecy for about 90% of his solos.

    No, I don't think I'm wierd...

But anyway. There was talk of dreams on the list and I had a really wierd one that was related to the Ytsejam. I don't remember the *exact* details, so I'll just fill them in to make it flow better - artistic license. ;)

I dreamt that it was about 7 or 8 years in the future. I was reading the jam and I saw something that looked like this:

    > Hello Ytsejammers, > > Ben is such a nice boy, but he's having problems with women. He's > already 21 and he's never had a girlfriend that I approve of. I figured > that since he's a really big DT fan, I should post here and ask all you > eligible females to date my son. Everyone here seems cool and I'm sure a > common interest (such as DT) would be a good place to start. I know he's > a little wierd, but don't let that scare you away. He really is a nice > boy. > > Nancy Laussade, > Ben's mom. >

I've had some wierd dreams before but this one really tops them all.
