Yes...It's the dude with the tabs here =)

I'd like to see ANY band do as good a soundtrack as Queen did
on Highlander. I'm talking about the rock scene here, with definite
songs. Of course there are masterpieces as 'The Piano' Soundt
and of course....Tii tii ti dii tuu di tuu tuu di tuu Star Wars =)
(was it march of the empire or somesuch, can't remember =)
Usually nowadays it's just separate pop bands doing some songs
and director struggling to slap them somewhere. Good example
of this is 'Bad boys' with that Diane King song (was it like
5 secs in the background real softly =)

Well anyways the Highlander ST is awesome. The songs are greatr
and fit the movie well. First is 'Princes of the Universe' where
you can catch Brian doing the fastest playing ever (for him I mean =)
and of course 'Who Wants To Live Forever' is awesome. Other songs
are: 'One Year of Love','Gimme the Prize (Kurgan's theme)' a great,
raw piece and 'Don't Lose Your Head'.

Urks...This wasn't supposed to be so long =(. Anyways I'd really like
to see DT do something similar. They're such great musicians that
they'd prolly compose sumtin for that Letterman show coming up
            too =)

            A brief quiz:
What great song did Queen do for another movie.
(Not a really good movie tho =)

            'Don't Use Your Head'

    Dear jammers,

Okay jammers, there are two things I need to mention. The first thing is
that I'm really pondering if this YtseCon should be open to the general
public. This way, there will be sponsers for the convention and there
will be a bigger budget for this event. If this does happen, Dream
Theater will be guarenteed to be there. Also, gives you jammers from
out-of-state a better reason to come out here. The down-side - this will
be advertised and will be open to the general public. That means that
this will be a VERY big event and will most likely be a success. I'll be
able to organize the Dream Theater tribute a lot better and will give
Dream Theater a lot of exposure.

The second thing, I need to know how many of you jammers would come to
the ytseCon III in New Jersey? Please write to me and let me know if you
want to come, plus how many people you're planning to bring. Also, tell
me if it should be a YtseCon III, or a full scale Dream Theater
convention. If I could get a venue for the tribute, it is possible that
some jammers can jam with the members of Dream Theater on stage!

Well, I need feedback, plus I need to start a headcount. The more
important thing for me right now is to find out if this should be
commercialized. So, send me your comments!

    Yours,
    Jeff =)

This is my first time to vist Ytsejam and I must say it's really cool. Like
most of the rest of you I consider myself one of DT's biggest fans. Last
week I caught one of Mike's drum clincs in Memphis, TN and it was awesome. I
was on the first row and got to ask Mike what inspired him in the writing
of ACOS. After the show he signed autographs and I had him sign my Lie
vinyl import single. He asked me where I got it from because he said it
was only released in Europe. I told him how I lucked out and found it at a
record store in Dallas, TX last year. The Lie single also had a copy of
the offical DT fanzine which I also got signed. Mike also signed my
copies of IAW and ACOS. Under his name on ACOS he wrote "Carpe Diem". If
that was'nt enough excitement for one night I also got to see Vince Neil
at the 616 club in Memphis. The show was great, and I got to meet Vince
and his bass player Robbie Crane after the show. They signed autographs
and posed for pictures as well. Next week I'm going to see Iron Maiden
and Tesla. Is that a cool couple of weeks or what. Hopefully with the
continual support of fans like us Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Progressive
Rock will continue to stay strong and alive.

    Hi everybody!

I was going thru' my ytsejam mail recently, I had about 50 pending, and
read a whole bunch of letter saying IAW is better than Awake. Well, IAW
is a darned good album, no doubt about it, but when you ask me I'd go
    for Awake anytime.

Last summer I was cruising in a brand new Saab 900 convertible,(now there's
a babemobile), and I loaded Awake into the CD-player and played Caught in a
web. The car had an excellent radio-system so I played it way to loud.
    It was just awesome!

By the way, Afterlife of WDADU has probably the best chorus I have
    ever heard.

That's all I have to say.

                            Regards Magnus

Lates FNM sucks! thats just an opinion, and not an insult to anyone who
likes it i might add... but I dont know WHAT they were thinking! I

Ben made a really good point here... Steve vai put it really great in
a guitar mag around when ALS came out also... I think alot of
alternative crap really IS stupid though... PresOfThUSofA for
example... what the hell is with them?! You cant really hate them
though because I gotta admit I laughed when my friend told me to turn
MTV for a second, although alternative is also going overboard now...
what happened to talented guitarists?!?!?! Peter Klett is probably the
latest i can think of... Me being a guitar player I like listening to
very guitar driven music, and thats another lag of alternative, not to
mention have any of them lived past 4 albums????

Ok this topic has been flyin' everywhere for a while now... Everyone
has their own personal suggestion of where Ytsecon should be... most
likely their home town... I think i may have the answer... YtseCon
should be held inside a gigantic, top secret, Mechanical MooCow,
located on the fiji island chain. In fact i think we should all just
moove there for good and skrew our lives, and spend the rest of our
time inside a giant cow, right on a deserted tropical island...
then check this out: we wire up the cow with tuna cans and coat
hangers and tap into worldwide radio stations where we take over all of
the airwaves and constantly play DT to the entire world, we send out
people to the concerts, where they'll be recording the whole thing as
we relay it live to the entire world... and yes theres even more that
can be done with a giant MooCow! We can actually go around the world
capturing $h|tty alternative guitarists, and forcing them to watch Jon
Petrucci's instructional video 25 hours a day, with their dope fien
eyes pryed and held open... whats more the fiji island chain consits
of at least 50 islands (i cant remember exactly, its been a while since
i've seen ESII) so if one cow is too crowded theres always room for
more. We can create a whole DT cow city along these islands! Hell we
could even create a whole friggin country! No wait! We turn the cow
into a giant hovering cow, along with many others, to create a whole
city hovering in the air! We can hook up gigantic speakers (cow
spotted of course) and fly around blasting DT for miles and miles...
Eternal champions of the world! This is not just our future- it is OUR

You are NOT the Dust Pan Ghost. That's the only question I forgot to ask
DT at the Xmas shows, but I'm sure You, DrX, aka DEATH, are not it!! ;)

Bewildered? I'm in complete control of my insanity, buddy. It's my sanity that I can't control.

    You got an e-mail from......WHO???

    > Hi Jammers, > I'm thrilled , I just checked my mail and I got a response from a mail I > sent around 3 months ago to Steve Vai.

There is a way to send e-mail to STEVE VAI??? Can you do this from his webpage or what???

---- > From: Baron Sengir <tsbileci@beta.loyno.edu> > Subject: Can O' Worms / Highlander stuff > >>> Poison, Warrant, AND DT in the same sentence? > > At least he didn't say WINGER.

I always laugh when people make fun of Winger. Here you have Kip Winger, a man who writes music all the time, is a very accomplished ballet dancer, and sings and plays bass at the same time. Then there's the drummer, Rod Morgenstein, a phenomenal drummer whose reputation precedes him. Lastly is Reb Beach, one of my influences, and a spectacular guitarist whose ability I think anyone on this list who plays the instrument can attest to (did someone say fluid tapping?).

Yet still Winger gets a bad rap. What's the moral of the story? Maybe that no matter how hard you try, there is simply no "I" in "band?" Never overlook chemistry, never overestimate talent? I guess sometimes you assemble the most talented players and the end product still just doesn't live up to the potential. (for example, "Sex & Religion" by Steve Vai. unbelievable band, equally unbelievable mess) I guess I just think it's strange how a band can get such a bad rap (like Winger) when there is such high admiration its individual members.

    > Now, it's BAFU TIME!

What, I'm a cartoon now? Okay, well just be sure to put me right after "Dungeons & Dragons," the coolest cartoon ever to grace Saturday mornings.

    > But the second one sucked majorly.

If there were a third next-powerful adjective after "minorly" and "majorly," Highlander II would get it.

    > The third one would have been okay if it didn't copy the first. And it > would have been VERY cool if DT had done some of the music.

Yeah, but wasn't Sonny Spoon just so totally evil? And howabout those teeth?

    > The actual title is "Who Wants to Live Forever" and you're right about > it kicking some buttocks.

Interesting. Cause you see, Queen did the soundtrack for another movie called "Flash Gordon" back in My Day. There's a line in that movie, "Who wants to live forever?" which I will never forget because that rocket cycle was just 2-Kewl. Anyone know if Queen's song was written specifically for Highlander, or if it was a few years older, old enough to be in FG?

    > And DT HAS covered Queen song (or, at least, partially). "Bohemian > Rhapsody" was part of the "Big Medley" at Ronnie Scott's and on ACOS. Blah blah blah. :)

Actually, I always thought the "two more coming" line was about having children. That stuff about "it means Christ's second coming" was in my opinion an Absolut Crock, and we're not talking Country. What, "two more coming" as in a Second Coming and a Third Coming? Screw your head on a bit tighter, rook.

And are there any "screwed over by a GUY" songs out there, or are we all just sweet, perfect angels? (something tells me I just raised the gate on the Debbie-cage, like that scene in the beginning of "Jurassic Park.")

    Bafu Vai
