    Hey Jammers,
I have a very serious question to ask. I heard a rumor on the
Rush Midnight express list that Dream Theater and Primus were going
to put together a Rush Tribute album. I was wondering if anybody on
here has heard about this, if you have any information could you please
write me or post it to the jam.
    My address is bradley8314@fredonia.edu
    Thanks

    Hi all,

The "certifiable" one has some bootleg Cd's to offer up for trade.

    1. Extreme - Get The Funk Out. Live from Houston 17, May 1989. This is
from an FM broadcast; the quality is superb.

    2. DT - Dream Out Loud - From the Impaxx Club, Buffalo. This has the
    "Get Funky/Status Seeker" tha's on Mike Bahr's WDATU. I thought I had
this sold, but the money never arrived so it's back on the block.

    3. Metallica - Candy For The Kids. This is from Bicentennial Park in
Miami Aug. 21, 1994. It's two cd's and I think it is from the
Soundboard. The highlight of this is that is has a cover of the Judas
Priest song "Rapid Fire" with Rob Halford on vocals.

The Extreme and DT Boots are for sale for $25 each or trade for other
CD's. I especially want Majestic Harmonies.

The Metallica is ONLY for trade for Lost In The Sky (2cd). If you see
anything that interests you, feel free to email me.

I want to clarify my Macintosh post of a few days ago. I did not
mean to piss off Mac users. MACINTOSH IS THE BEST COMPUTER OUT TODAY,
IN MY OPINION! If I had the extra money at the time I bought my current
system, I would've gotten one myself. The reason I said what I did was
because some arrogant s.o.b. was acting like some pompous snob because
his mac was ammune to the Michelangelo virus, and I had a knee-jerk
reaction. I shouldn't have said what I did. But, then again, I am
certifiable so I guess it's to be expected, eh.

    1) the artists don't make the award shows, the industry does

    2) some artists do it for the money, others accept the awards because they
feel they'd insult their fans if they didn't... others don't even show up...
and others go but don't accept (like Garth Brooks did in the AMA I
believe...I actually respect that guy now...)

Besides... why do you even refer to awards? DT hasn't even come close to
touching one yet... and I'm sure they don't even give damn... As far as I
can see, they doing pretty good economically speaking... they don't have to
    be multi-millionaires...

It's probably the same reason why some prefer Chinese food and others
prefer Italian. It comes down to personal preferences. I can't speak for
everyone on the list...but for myself...Dream Theater is the TOTAL package.
Excellent musicianship, interesting lyrics, good vocals....etc. Some
bands might have great musicianship...but their lyrics are so corny they
are hard to listen to. Other bands might have the musicianship and the
lyrics but their vocalist sounds like an idiot. Get my point, yet? By the
way, I don't consider them to be intrinsically "better" than other bands.
I listen to different bands depending on what mood I'm in. When I feel
like the BITCH GODDESS FROM HELL....well....to be honest at that time I
prefer bands like Testament or I dig out some early Metallica. At other
times, I'm way to mellow for Dream Theater so I put on Loreena McKennitt,
the Dixie Dregs or Ozric Tentacles. Just because people are on this list
does NOT make them single minded Dream Theater fanatics that can't listen
to ANYTHING outside the world of Prog.

Um...I checked the Aerosmith FAQ's and history on the Net. They were all
born around the 1950s, and began gigging in 1971. There is no mention of
Berklee, and it seems that they started playing right after high school.
I also checked Berklee's homepage on the Web. No mention there, either.
Surely, they would would mention superstar alumni like members of
Aerosmith. As far as "industry ads with 'Smith guys in 'em", that
doesn't mean a thing. By that logic, what about a picture of Bruce
Dickinson when he played with DT? Does that means he is a member of
DT? I think not. I still stand by my original statement that they could
    have received honorary degrees.

A while ago there was some talk about the re-release of WDADU, I guess
they redid the sounds because I finally bought my own copy of WDADU for 9.98
yesterday. (Never bought it because it was always for 28.99) I
thought Charlie sounds pretty good. The sound quality is
great, but there were no lyrics nor the pictures of the guys inside.
The CD says it contains program transferred from analog tape. So did
they redid the sounds or this is the original one that DT put out few
    years ago?

    Hi everyone,

Kevin has asked me to direct you all to his brand-spanking new Chroma Key
home page to take a peek. :)

Kevin designed the site himself (he has become a true HTML God ;), and you
can order the CK tape from him directly from his home page, if you so desire.
I would recommend that you *buy the tape* from Kevin rather than *trade*
copies of it, so that Kevin can support himself with his music, ok? Thanks
in advance for your consideration. :)

Ok, ok, so Kev's been on-line for awhile now but I was respecting his
privacy, ok?? :) :) Don't hit me or anything. <G>

    Here's the URL:

    http://www.chromakey.com

if for any reason that doesn't work, try the domain address:

    Have fun, kids. :)

I went to see Tony MacAlpine last saturday in the Netherlands. Wow, what a
great guitar player!!!! He played mostly material from his first 2 solo
albums and the last one. The bassplayer had the most funny show I've ever
seen in my life, he's totally nuts. I strongly advice evereyone to go to the
concerts!!! After the show I had some talks and drinks with the band
members. They were really friendly. Check out their homepage at
    http:/www.oso.com/~jason/tony.

Please keep on giving us the latest details about the workshops of Mike
Portnoy. I sure don't want to miss this. Where in Brussel will it be?
    anyone?

We interrupt this program for a message with Dream Theater content!

    Hi!

I'm searching for a low generation copy of the FM broadcast of the Denver
    show!

Hello Texas 'jammers! Anyone? Maybe someone who recorded it is on the Jam, too.

    Thanx.

    Bye,

    Steffen.

And now: On with the Jam!

    BLAH BLAH...

    >About their quoet of Don't mistake lack of talent for genius, I liked the
    >quote that Pete said when I saw them with Queesryche last July. It went
    >something like this:
    >"Don't be as stupid as Kurt Cobain was. If you're feeling depressed and
    >thinking about killing yourself, be smart and do the right thing-take someone
    >you hate with you."

I thought it was a pretty stupid, silly, juvenille, and immature comment.
At the Toronto show, it was a bit different. He said something like "This
song is about suicide. Maybe one day when I'm old and useless - which will
probably be pretty soon - I'll blow up the World Trade Centre, and hopefully
take someone I hate with me".
