OK, It seems to me that I caused a bit of confusion on IRC saturday night,
(and Rip is the confused one HAHAHAHA! Just kidding, Rip).
Metallica did NOT shave their heads. That would've been cooler than what they
did do. They all went out and got these dorky-assed short haircuts, almost
like crew cuts :( (BTW if you have haircuts like this, I'm not saying you are
a dork. I'm just saying that it looks TERRIBLE on Metallica).
Also, Korn is NOT definate for Lollapalooza yet. They are just a rumor.
Finally, I never said I haven't heard Bruce Dickenson with DT on Perfect
Strangers. I do have a copy of Acoustic Dreams. I was saying that some guy at
the Malibu show said he heard it on a highly commercialised NYC station,
which is bs.
Thats all. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you, drive through.

If you want to class Sound Garden, try progressive. If you need proof, listen
to some songs off of SuperUnknown alone. My Wave, mostly in 5/4 time with
some time changes. Fell on Black Days, in 6/4 and 9/4, I thnk. SpoonMan is in
7/4 and 4/4. From BADMOTORFINGER, listen to Rusty Cage and Outshine which
change times as well. All right, they're not as complex as DT, but they are
no Bush or nirvana. Neoprogressive maybe? Fight me on this? Be my guest, but
when a band changes time sigs like that, I consider them somewhat
progressive. Hell, I'd even consider the Toadies somewhat progressive,
listen to I come from the Water and that really overplayed one, what the
hell is the name again? HMMMM .....

Brian, you're the one with the DreamNDay email aren't you? Just
wondering, do you you have slots 13 through 17 reserved on the Jam, cos
you always seem to appear there. I'm not complaining as your posts are
normally quite amusing, it was just an observation.

Wilmo, I Mother Earth is the poor excuse for a band that opened for DT
on the first leg of the Waking Up The World tour. I caught 'em in Chicago,
and boy, did IME suck. When I saw DT previously, the Galactic Cowboys
opened, and they kicked ass. I forgot I was waiting for DT. With IME, I
was counting the seconds until DT came on. In my opinion, it was a total
mismatch. IME is like a cross betweem Candlebox and Pearl Jam, which I
guess is sort of like in-breeding. They had a couple o.k. songs, but
unless you need some extra coasters, I wouldn't buy it. See ya!

I heard from my friend that he heard a rumor that Kiss told Eric when
he joined in 1980 if he stuck around ten years, he'd be made an equal
partner...well ten years came and they apparently had to give it to
him, and that is reportedly why Eric and them didn't get along on the
Hot In The Shade tour. Also, the guy I know that knows Eric Singer
also knows a guy at Polygram who told him all the reunion stuff we knew
in January in December and that supposedly they are doing the tour
because Peter has some rare illness and is dying. I don't think I
believe that though.

Subject: Band questions answered
Message-ID: <31460ABD.297B@clandjop.com>
Hiya ytse-cohorts,
On the last jam there were a couple of qustions about some bands that
I'll try to answer. I have the I mother Earth C.D. These guys can
really play their asses of (especially the bass player). The only
problem is that the songwriting leaves A LOT to be desired. It seems
that they wrote one song and played it with twelve different lyric
sheets. There are a few exceptions but it is difficult to listen to
the whole C.D. in one setting, get's pretty dull. Also, there are few
too many stops and breaks into "porno music" to be very interesting.
Edwin does a much better job of singing with Victor anyway. I'm glad
Fates Warning replaced I MOTher Earth on the Awake tour.
Korn: what can I say, yes they do play the nursary ryme song (shoots
and ladders-not their best song). Korn are recieved as true
innovators usually are: ya love em or hate em. I personally love
them. Both guitar players use seven string guitars (but they tune even
these down-think of detuning the Mirror!). Fieldy the bass player
tunes his five string down to "A" and slaps the shit out of that
mutha! These guys are so mood inducing, the tecnique is sometimes
abandomed in favor of the mood. But they still can break bones! The
biggest attraction (at least initially) to Korn is Johnathan davis teh
singer (who sings a duet with Mike Patton on Sepultura's new disk
"Roots", but I'LL GET TO THAT IN A MINUTE). Korn is some of the
heaviest stuff I've ever heard and they put on a show that will bring
the sky crashing down. They get my vote for best new metal band of
the year as they are forging a new style combining Nine Inch Nails,
Sepultura, Type O Negative, and Balck Sabbath. Great stuff! Never
expose this CD to anyone whom is clinically depressed or maybe even a
little homicidal!
Last one I promise. GO OUT AND BUY "ROOTS" BY SEPULTURA! These guys
get my vote for best metal album of '96! They have been listening to
Korn and Nine Inch Nails. Also they have a bass player! I wasn't sure
if Paulo ciould even play his bass on earlier Sepultura disks because
you just could't hear him, but now he's out in the mix and kickin ass!
There is a lot of tribal influences going on here from the sitar on
"Attitude" to the chants that abound on the rest of the disk, to the
beautifulk acoustic instruments at the end of the CD. Every track
just kicks ass. They are much less the speed thrash band that they
used to be and much more forcing their way to they vanguard of the new
style of music being created bu NIN, Korn, Fear Factory, Marilyn
manson, and now Sepultura. This entire disk screams experimentation.
Lot's of technology abounds on the disk from the rap-like scrathing of
DJ Lethal to the smorgasboard of effects on Max's voice to the samples
of tribal chant's. Jonathan Davis of Korn and Mike patton of Faith no
More sing a duet on "Lookaway" written by Sepultura and DJ Lethal. The
drummer has thrown off his Krokus influences and is now pounding away
like an aboriginal hunter on a spirit quest. Igor is probably the
most creative drummer in rock today. Great stuff all around. It's
much heavier than their old stuff-they occasionally tune down to
"A#"!!!!!!!! Even the vocals are much more intense. No more just
simple growling vocals-he tears his lungs out in true Fear Factory
style and barks/chants/raps ala Korn with aplomb. Support these
extremely talented guys! They are touring for the next year and a
half so be damn sure to go and see them. It's sure to be an
incredible show! I hope they tour with Korn! Riots would commence at
the end of every show!!!!!!!!!
I hope I've been helpful and not TOO long winded!

I suppose he cant take jokes either. But Im going to treat this as
flame-bait, and not say too much on it, cuz countless others will, but this
guy needs to chill out. No one is forcing him to read the jam.
And if you have been absolutely blind, the new album is coming out in
August, September, around then.
As for trivia? Hmmm, Ill try to stay within what this guy knows about DT.
Oops, he probably doesnt know what that means. D-R-E-A-M--T-H-E-A-T-E-R.
As for trivia, what is the guitarists name? Damn, I think I made that too
hard. Sorry.
For a list more suited to your needs, you may want to try the Green Day
listserv, or maybe the Van Halen one... : )
Later folks. And I graced this guy with too much of my time, I know.
