There has been a little discussion about I Mother Earth lately on the
jam, mostly unfavorable opinions of the band. I figured I'd toss my
thoughts of these guys onto the heap.

Personally, I like these guys. They are doing something fairly original
with their music, and they seem like a fairly talented bunch. I would
classify their style as prog rock, as they don't really tend towards the
heavy distortion characteristic of metal. I will be one of the first to
admit that their style does drag on a bit, not a whole lot of innovation
away from it... this isn't necessarily a bad thing, since it's a fairly
unique style. But, you gotta be in the mood to listen to it... and
rarely can one kick back and jam to the entire album. It's somewhat
mellow, along the lines of maybe Echolyn (although I personally like
    IME's style better than Echolyn).

If you can get into their style though, these guys can catch a serious
groove, with the bass player way up there in the mix in parts. If you can
catch a copy of Dig fairly cheaply, pick it up and give it a chance...

Personally, I hadn't heard anything about it until a good friend of
mine who's a diehard Rush fan mentioned it a few days ago. He was
browsing one of the Rush Web pages and saw mention of it. And he did
say that Dream Theater and Primus were mentioned. Here's hoping!

    >(and Rip is the confused one HAHAHAHA! Just kidding, Rip).

huh?... wha'?... damn it quit confusing me!

ok first of all, yes brian i know metallica didnt literally shave
themselves bald, but when i see guys go from hair past their shoulders
to something remotely close to shaved (buzz, crew cut, etc) i just say
    they shaved it...

as for Seth Hatlelid, man that was a totally cool post, i really hope
now that i get to see korn this year because everything i've heard
about them live has been kick ass... and i'll definately check out
sepulturas "roots" after what i've heard from you about it too, thanx
    bro'

ok some more things (i'm not finished with you yet!) i think i heard
something about a part of ACoS being cut from the album version. what
if anything was cut and where could i possible get a dub or else an
actual copy of a bootleg with a live version oc ACoS on it?

has anyone heard ozzy's Randy Rhoads Tribute remastered? i'm planning
on buying it no matter what but i was just kind of wondering if they
really improved the sound or whatever, same with Live and Loud...

oh yeah i said "couple o quick thingz" in the subject so i'd better
    stop now. later'

As much as I want to agree, I don't think I can. We tried this a couple
weeks back with Extreme, and it didn't fly. I think we need a new
classification for bands like SG. Maybe neoprogmetalstuff? Nah, too
hard to say on the radio. :)

Funny, Cat. Very Funny. Assasinating one of my top admirals in front of the ENTIRE ytse-communtity! For this horrid act, you must be reprimanded. You see, while you were busy finding a gun big enough to kill my High-Ranking Admiral Ibanez, my super high Marshmellow technology, in cohorts with my genius Chicken and Mean Green Monster Scientists, have enveloped your homeworld in a impenetrible SLAVE SHIELD! HA HA! NOW, you are imprisoned on your home planet, never free to roam Web Space again!! AND you shall do MY bidding! For only I have the key to unlock it! ..And, in case you haven't noticed, if by some chance you do find a way of escaping the slave shield, my 650,000 Gigaton Anti-Matter Super Dense Molecular Disbanding Neutronium Potensifing Electron Shifting Plasmoid Releasing BPD Rocket is waiting in orbit to blow your home planet into little tiny bits of molten marshmellow that my soldiers will happily eat for desert after a nice meal of Grain-Burgers that they stole from your cows! HA HA! DT CONTENT: Yes, I think Cat has a good point. Maybe we, the people of this 'jam, can contribute something to a large-scale progressive metal/DT effort. You know, there was talk a while back about making a "Ytse-Orchestra" thing. I think the thread kind of died because we all figured it would be too tough to do. Well, what about computer sequencers? You could send around an entire piece on a floppy disc in MIDI format. (Or email) I mean, I know it wouldn't be like getting everyone together in a studio for a huge "Ytse-JAM" :) but in would certainly be cool. Think about it. A lot of the people on here probably have access to sequencing software of some kind. We could get into 'Groups' for each song, and send the piece back and forth to each "group member" until a satisfactory "Beta-Synthesized Version" was compleated. Then, finally get the song down on tape with real instruments. Hell, you could even do that through the mail! Most of us have 4-tracks, right? It would just take a lot of effort. But I think it would certainly be worth it. And us SIG Warriors could do the Cover art!!! :)

I finally saw Rumble in the Bronx! It rocked me more than the intro to "The Mirror" and Derek's train noise in "ACoS"" combined! Check out their web page: www.rumble.com, it says that New Line Cinema has acquired the worldwide distribution rights excluding the Far East to Jackie Chan's highly sought-after action-adventure film First Strike and domestic rights to Thunderbolt. The deal also includes first and last negotiating rights on potential First Strike and Thunderbolt sequels, as well as dibs on the next Jackie Chan film, which goes into production in March. Maybe DT could be on one of the soundtracks, that would rule!

I think the majority of 'Jammers favorite band is DT. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even yours, however dissenting it may be.

Cool! Maybe he could be in "Crow III: Cage of Hamsters" He could play his own wah-infested guitar solo on a building rooftop. Metallica could be on the soundtrack. DT could be on yet another soundtrack!

Okey-dokey RipZero, Pantera's wanker status has been revoked.

While I was driving to the record store to buy the new Sting CD (yes!), I heard this song on the radio. I liked the sound of the drums. I first heard the "Blind" song, and my first impression of this band was that they sounded like Rage Against the Machine. After hearing this song though, I may have to give it a listen. Thanks for the description, Seth. BMG or Columbia House numbers for this album anyone?

Arg, I've been looking everywhere for the Shadow Gallery! It's not even listed in the computer catalog thing at tower, and I'm not sure if there are any good indie record places around here. If anybody around Boston knows of a good place, tell me! Oh yeah, I just picked up Awaken the Guardian by Fates. This is a totally different band then Inside Out! John Arch's topic of lyrics is definitely interesting, is he trying to tell a story here? I also notice that he sometimes screws up words and repeats them until they fit into the song...different but cool ;-)

    On to DT content :

I just wanted to comment on how DT is getting more popular , after reading about the show they are doing about them on T.V. by our fellow ytsejammers I realize that we are helping a lot to build a good following without the band having to sell out. I have turned about 20 guys in my high-school into liking DT. Also I've heard segments of "Learning to Live" , "Pull Me Under" , and "The Mirror" in some T.V. programs here in Mexico. In another matter I'm desperately trying to build my DT bootleg collection , if anybody is willing to help me please mail me. See ya in IRC.
