If you want some of the cds that are often talked about here quite often, then
telnet to cdconnection.com and follow their easy to follow menus. I ahve
ordered from them many times and they are reliable. I have gotten almost
all my Magna Carta (tributes, Shadow Gallery, Magellan) from them.

Fates warmed up. There were only about 500 people there or so. There
was a blizzard in progress during and after the show so maybe that
affected the attendance. However, I don't think DT is well known here, I

Last night I got to see Fear Factory and Iron Maiden. The show kicked some serious ass! The new lead singer Blaze Baily sounds amazing live. I was right in front of the stage the entire time. Dave gave me 2 of his guitar picks and Steve and Blaze screamed in my face several times. After the show I talked to Fear Factory. They were some really cool guys and put on a great show. After waiting for over an hour IRON MAIDEN finilly came out and signed some autographs. I got to meet everyone but Nico. If anyone gets a chance to see Maiden don't miss it.

    Hi jammers!

    >Freddy saw a rough cut of the death scene of Heather, >then wrote "WWTLF", which, after played to the makers of the movie, they >liked so much they made it a major theme of the film.

Wasn't it Brian instead of Freddie? I think I've read somewhere it was written in the back of a car... anyway great song!

    >Trivia: What popular song was in the first Highlander movie, but NOT on any >album released by Queen? (No fair watching the movie to find out)

Wasn't there an excerpt from "New York New York" mixed with "Don't lose your head"?

As for Soundgarden... well, maybe they aren't progressive, but their music is very challenging. Very different from DT (no keyboards...), but very interesting Actually, almost all the songs are in odd signatures, and moreover they use very unusual kinds of melodies on their songs. I also like very much Chris Cornell's voice. I saw them live a few months ago, and I had a lot of fun!!

Finally, thank you very much to the one who posted about Mike's clinics. Great, he's coming to Italy!! Are you sure he won't do other clinics here apart from Florence and Milan?

    Trey,

The Galactic Cowboys reformed with a new guitarist (Wally Farkas, their former guitar tech) and released "Machine Fish" on Metal Blade records in Feb '96. I definitely like the new disc, and already have tickets to the April 5 show in the L.A. area. I've only seen them once when they opened for D.T., so I can't wait to see them headline.

For more info, check out the metal blade web site; there is Galactic Cowboys page there (with tour info as well).

A friend of mine saw Portnoy in a clinic in Maryland over the weekend. I heard no word about this over the jam. It could be because I haven't read that many recently because I left for spring break and got back with 60+ messages to read with over half being jams and a bunch about recording the DT covers. If Portnoy is doing a clinic tour, could someone PLEASE send me the dates. This is the second time I missed him. Last time he was only fifteen minutes away from where I live(another clinic no one mentioned.) By the way, my friend said he talked about songs on the new album, and that they are working on a song that Derek wrote now.

I read recently in a Mike Portnoy interview that Mike and Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big, DLR, Talas) laid down the bass and drum tracks for the upcoming tribute that will be released on the Magna Carta label. I read in a magazine that the disc will come out in June. I've also heard rumors that Primus, Queensryche, and Fates Warning will play on the disc. I don't know if Mike is the only member of DT who was involved (I hope not), but he's the only one who I know played on it for sure. I also read on Shadow Gallery's web page that their guitar player is going to play on one of the tracks.

Okay, am I the only one who has noticed a pattern here? When Ozzy came through Phoenix last year on the first leg of the Ozzmosis tour, FEAR FACTORY opened the show. I didn't go to that show because, well, I'm not a huge Ozzy fan and tickets sold out in under a week, anyway. But, I did get tickets for his March 2nd show (I won 3rd row seats on the radio) and KORN and the Deftones were slated as the opening acts. However, Ozzy got sick and had to postpone the show. It has been rescheduled, though (I know a lot of you out there were holding your breath for that info), and who just happened to replace KORN and the Deftones on the bill? MARILYN MANSON and SEPULTURA (actually, I was hoping for King's X, but...). I thought that was pretty interesting - Hey, Jon, do you double as Ozzy's tour manager, or what? Anyway, it should be an interesting show (April 13th - See you there, Mike Bahr!). Could someone give me a general idea what to expect from these bands live? MM I've never heard, and it's been a while since I've heard anything from Sepultura (one track from Chaos A.D.).

    >They are touring for the next year and a >half so be damn sure to go and see them. It's sure to be an >incredible show! I hope they tour with Korn! Riots would commence at >the end of every show!!!!!!!!!

That would sure cut their tour pretty short, wouldn't you think?

Any Savatage followers out there? Jump 'em, or dump 'em?

Okay, okay, DT content - I am the epitome of ignorance, I know, but just what the HELL is James LaBrie singing during the last measures of Pull Me Under on LATM and is it the same as the original IAW track? Also, is Bombay Vindaloo found anywhere else but LATM? I'd really like to see DT put that on one of their upcoming LPs or EPs, like they did with ACOS.

What's this about DT and someone else collaborating on a Rush tribute album? I wish I could remember where I saw that. Sounds cool to me, though.

Speaking of Rush, I heard that one of their newsletters reported that Rush will not tour to support their upcoming final release...WHAT?!? Has anybody else heard about this? I mean, c'mon, would they really do that? Please, somebody put this to rest A.S.A.P!

Jeez, somebody put ME to rest - sorry about the mongo post - "SOMEBODY STOP ME!!!"

"Whoa! Yeeeeeeah!" - James LaBrie, Long Island Expressway (Acoustic Dreams)

"You're gonna die here, y'know; pretty convenient." - Han Solo, ROTJ
