Metallica, IMHO, is one of the greatest bands in teh world today. Nuff said.
BTW, Metallica is actually somewhat DT related, being that DT digs em.

Dyers Eve is a cool song. Hey, Anyone in the Metallica Club (yes, that means
you, Ben) Get the new issue of So What yet? Wouldn't it suck if that back

So has anybody coughed up the cash for Kevin Moore's new tape
available at his website? Are these the same songs from his
demo tapes that have been going around? (which I haven't heard,
btw). I heard that the songs from his demo tapes were more in
the Space-Dye Vest style, which kind of turned me off to it
since that song is so depressing (I much prefer a song like
Wait for Sleep; although it has semi-depressing lyrics, the
tone and music are so much more upbeat). Anyway, I thought I'd
get other peoples' opinion on this, before I shell over nine
    bucks.

On another note, are there really that many people here who
haven't seen ASCII art? Please check out the alt.ascii-art
or rec.arts.ascii newsgroups for more ASCII art than anyone
could possibly want. Although this "war" has been semi-fun
so far, I don't think this is the place to mirror the above two
newsgroups (which is exactly what I think is happening; chances
are most of what's been posted so far has come from some
archive or another, and not drawn by any of the "combatants").

Of course, feel free to post ASCII montages of Dream Theater
members, concerts, or album covers; those are perfectly
legitimate of course (and would prove that one of the
ytsejammers actually took the t...er, I mean expended great
effort to actually come up with something on their own).
I think you artists out there should take this as a challenge!

    Happy 'jamming,

    Jim

Everything I've done HAS COME FROM MY OWN KEYBOARD, MISTER. I don't know about anybody else here....but I HAVE WORKED HOURS ON SOME OF THIS! Now, kiss my ASCII! I asked the Ytsecommunity for their support in this...and so far I've got it. I don't have access to ANY ASCII pages. I use my monthly hours getting and sending e-mail! So I KNOW it gets expensive. That's why I've asked for permission from the Ytsecommunity. If you notice....alot of MY stuff has to do with either music or threads that pop up on the 'Jam. Such as the Moo Cow. And the forthcoming Mountain Dew comeback. I'm sorry if this is a waste to you. I receive this list as much for the general good humour of the 'Jammers themselves as for HARD information and facts. I mean....how much space has been given to stuff like dreams, Mountain Dew complaints and whatnot? If this was a completely dry mailing list...given ONLY to Information dispensing....I think it would be called.............I don't know.........Metropolis@arastar.com Maybe? Yes, I'm rather pissed. You can complain all you want about the War. Perhaps your complaint might actually STOP it...which wouldn't wreck my day any. BUT DO NOT THINK for a minute that MY work has come from ANYWHERE accept my OWN IMAGINATION. 'Nuff said.

    What's up Jammers,

I am a huge Petrucci fan and love his playing. I never knew that he had a columb in Guitar World magazine untill about 5 months ago when I got a subscription to Guitar world. I realized that I had missed out on a lot of his columbs. That sucks because with his columbs, you kind of have to have read the last one to understand the next one. I AM IN DESPERATE NEED TO GET ALL OF THEM!!! Does anyone know of a place on the internet or elsewhere where I can find a copy of every Petrucci columb? If some ytsejammer has them all, by any chance, and would be willing to fax them to me, there would be a nice reward in return. Someone PLEASE get back to me with some info. Thanks a lot!

    hiya,

I just wanted to say that the music that I like the most now I hated at first, and the music I loved at first has become strangely obsolete. When I first heard Pantera I couldn't stand it for more than 30 seconds. I hated James LaBrie's voice at first and thought the band could use a heavy IV injection of the 90's. Korn sounded like they were jumping on the teen angst bandwagon untill I saw them live and heard the depth of the lyrics. I just got used to Geddy Lee's voice and am really beginning to love EVERY aspect of Rush. The point is, it grows on you. Good music is never based on a first impression. That's why I have stopped listening to the radio altogether to free my mind, because at my age I am very impressionable. Has DT got a direction for the new album yet? any predictions from jammers? Oh, yeah. If I were on Aol I would do the Mtv yak thing just to tick off everyone in the higher up offices of MTV. Who are they to dictate what the youth of America listens to? I encourage all AOL jammers to use up your parent's account and spread the DT word on MTV.

Well they played a gig, here in London (UK) last Saturday - unfortunately for me it clashed with the goddess Tori ! She was great both times I saw her

(in Manchester and London) and played widely differing setlists including substantial portions of 'Boys for Pele'. The Little Earthquakes stuff (esp Winter) sounded as good as ever but the new stuff is taking a hell of a long time to grow on me. Tori fans shouldn't miss her, all the same.

Draconian Times got my vote for best metal album of 1996! Brit metal bands need your support (and money) America! Check em out - but take care with Draconian Times - its been re-issued umpteen times in the UK with different packaging - one of which includes a second live CD. While we're recommending records, Journey fans should check out The Storm's 'Eye of the Storm'.

DT content! Have any UK jammers noticed how it has suddenly become very easy to find your favorite DT album in your local record shop - just check out the bargain bins! What's happening ??? Are East West just dumping stock?

Kerrang reviewed I&W the other week (if you can call a single sentence slagging it off, a review) and mentioned that it was being re-released, but you can pick up I&W, LATM and ACOS for a mere ?21!!! (that's v cheap for the UK) at HMV and lots of the mail order ads have the albums listed at very cheap prices (i.e.less than I paid for my copy). Guess its a good time to buy a back-up copy.

Finally, anyone out there got any opinions on Saviour Machine? Kerrang labels it as 'Poncy but occasionally effective progressive metal overlaid with orchestral touches, bring to mind '80s acts like Crimson Glory and Savatage' HHMMM - sounds like my kind of thing.
