    I had a frightening vision of ytse-past meets ytse-present.

The religious right joins in the sig wars with a .sig containing an ACII
jesus and the complete lyrics to the new testament along with choice quotes
from the old, an ASCII cross, an ASCII representation of the vatican, and a
cute caricature of the pope. Now that's a Hell of a .sig. I hope I never
see it in this life or any other that may or may not exist depending on the
religious belief and/or beliefs of the listener, be that listener male or
female, of any ethnic descent including repressed minorities and repressive
majorities, of any sexual persuasion, be their amorous sight focused on men,
women or Bafu. Doesn't P.C. frighten you? Imagine having to tack a
disclaimer like that on to every damned sentence you write. I hope not to
see it in this lifetime or ... oh hell.

DTC: um ... um ... New Thread: let's discuss our opinions of the lyrical
    meaning behind The Ytse Jam!

some just got all pissy about it. So here it is in all its

I learned a few things in the last jam:

    1) Kirk Hammet has left Metallica and is now pursuing a career as a clown who sloppily beats people over the head with a ukelele.

    2) June 3/4 exits. It is somewhere between midnight on May 31st and 12:00am on June 1st.

    3) Diet Mountain Dew is made out of antifreeze, and if you drink it, your lungs will shrivel up and you'll die a slow agonizing death.

    4) Signature files can actually fight one another.

    5) Dream Theater's lead singer is Marilyn Monroe and the band has been banned from several venues because she mutilates herself onstage.

I think that's everything for now.

    Hey there,

Don't know how many of you will have heard about this, but yesterday (Wednesday) some madman armed with 4 pistols went into a primary school in Dunblane, Scotland and shot dead 16 5-year-old kids and their teacher, before shooting himself. Dunblane's only 10 mins drive from where I stay, but thankfully I don't know anyone involved. It kind of brings it home to you what a fucked up world we live in. So if you've got a spare moment, stick on Eve or Another Day, and just think about those kids and the grief their parents must be feeling. It's only a little thing but it might make a difference somewhere. Thanks.

If you're looking for CDs by bands like Shadow Gallery, Magellan, or others on the Magna Carta label, and you have access to the WWW, you can order them from E-Music: http://emusic.com They have all of the Magna Carta releases for about $13.67 plus $1.00 shipping. I've found the E-Music has about the cheapest prices on average for most of the online music stores.

There's a WWW site called the CD Bargain Finder which you can use to find prices on a particular CD online. You have to know both the artist name and album title though. The CD Bargain Finder URL is: http://bf.cstar.ac.com/bf/

If you need even harder to find prog CDs, you can call "Of Sound Mind" (410) 529-7082 in Baltimore and order them.

Regarding Paradise Lost They are a band who come from Halifax, Yorkshire in England, although they presently live in nearby Bradford. They have released five albums Lost Paradise Gothic Shades of God Icon Draconian Times These last two albums are well recommended, and indeed Draconian Times was voted one of the best albums of 1995 by UK readers of Kerrang! magazine. Their lead singer, Nick Holmes is presently doing a charity motorbike ride across the Australian outback. If you are interested in quality metal, you should check out this band ASAP.

    Hi all

For a while now, the 'Jam has been populated by numerous schemes to spread the gospel (oops) of DT to the world. From the Letterman thing to Email campaign to bring back the Headbanger's Ball, they have pretty much not done any good. Anyway, last night, I had an idea (I know it's rare, but it happens).

Most of you are probably familiar with that damn Yack Live thing MTV does when they have the comment in some AOL chat room displayed on the bottom of the screen underneath a video. People comment on it, and generally act stupid. But as a video comes to an end, people start up a "Hey, play x next!", or whatever. Well, what if a whole bunch of AOL 'Jammers got on there, and when the MTV guy asks for a next video, everybody in the whole damn thing goes "PLAY SOME DREAM THEATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" It might not work, but it would be kinda fun. Hehe... MM is quite an interesting act in concert. I've seen them 3 times, all with NIN, and they know how to put on a show. ...INCOMMING MESSAGE TO THE INFAMOUS 'CAT' AND ALL CITIZENS OF JAM ISLE WHO ARE CONTEMPLATING JOINING HER IN HER FOOLISH QUEST FOR VICTORY...... Hello, Jammers! Masked Avenger here! Well, as you may have already noticed, the SIG wars are moving from their small-scale skirmishes between Mutant Moo-Cows and Hyper-Marshmellow Chickens into something much more. Cat has just sent me a nice little preview of what she has to offer and, well, I have one thing to say... HA! Lay it on, you big feline terror! I fear NO ONE!!! Is that all you have to offer? They are both very cool, yes, but COME ON! You think, I , the Masked Avenger, Conquerer of Worlds, Master of Illusions, Melter of Marshmellows, don't have anything to retaliate? HA! Our brief exchange of forces via email was...interesting, I'll admit. But, I am not in the least bit worried. I have SIG warriors in my arsenal that would make both her "Doomsday Weapons" combined shudder and flee in blind terror. SO...I make a final proposition. I realize that the Glorious Cat does have to work, as do I. Is this war going to expand into global proportions? If so, now is the time to take sides. I, the Masked Avenger, will accept ANYONE who is willing to join forces with me. Cat needs someone to defend her in her absence, and so do I. But, let it be known to all my future allies that this is THE YTSEJAM. All of my(our) attacks will contain DT CONTENT to quell the rage and flames of those who object to this conflict. I have noticed that many are in favor, so LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!! :) Better yet, I'll make it official: I, THE MASKED AVENGER, ON THIS DAY OF MARCH 14, 1996 YTSEJAM #1350, DO HEREBY DECLARE AN ALL-OUT BATTLE OF CREATIVITY ON THE VILE 'CAT' AND ALL WHO JOIN HER. I HAVE SPOKEN, PREPARE TO DIE.

    With Honor, The Masked Avenger

DT CONTENT: I saw a post about Metallica in Comparison to DT, I would like to add my POV. I do agree that DT is the all time 'King' of Metal-both progressive or otherwise. I used to listen to Metallica a lot, but I lost interest when they became over-popularized. Do you think we, as loyal DT fans, like the fact that "our" band is kind of "underground"? I do. I really don't think tons of radio and TV time have much to do with it, either. I know tons of people who flock to Metallica concerts without a care to what the music is about, they just want to bang their heads around and hurt people. At a DT show, everybody is there because they LOVE the band and the music. I kind of like that. Who wants a myriad of the "We only listen to the hits" crowd? It's like the people who go "Yeah! I love Rush! Man, that new song! What is it, Tom Sawer? It rules!" :) I'm sure you people know what I mean. Oh, well. Just a mindless thought. Thanks for listening. -- **********VID SCREEN********** * /\__/\ * * {[[|O O|]]} * * | '' | * * VvvV * * |vv| * * \__/ * ****************************** "Attention All Planets of the Solar Federation, We Have Assumed Control..."

They can make the most overused jokes on that show seem funny, like when Marcy comes in and Charlie says "Nice to meet you, sir". that joke has been used hundreds of times on that show, but he actually had me laughing out loud at that one. Hello once again, Ytse-Goers.

I can't ever think of anything new/creative to play on the piano when I feel like playing something new/creative on the piano. SO! I'm asking you to please send me your favortie chord progression to keep me busy for a while. ;-) Thanks!!!!!

The reason I came to like DT could not have been their technical ability. There's no way. Because, when I first started listening to them, I had no idea that JP, JM and KM were extraordinarily talented. I didn't really know what a extremely good guitar (and bass and keys...but guitar for now) player sounded like. I didn't know that he was good till I came on this list and everybody talked about it. After that, I started paying more attention to the guitar and the ability that it took to play like that. Metallica (Kirk in particular) does nothing like that. I thought Kirk was a really good guitar player, just the same as I thought that Lars was the best drummer ever. I didn't know good until I heard better. But, Kirk, Lars, James and Jason do what they want to do and I like it. Let me reiterate something else this time. Technical ability does NOT equal a good band. Technical ability is only good when you use it for good music. I wonder why we find so much emotion in Dream Theater music, yet other people say it is completely heartless? Please don't reply to this and say "Because they're stupid." That's stupid. :-) But still, it's a question to ponder.

Did I mention that Space-Dye Vest is a great song?

About the .sig war again...I find it strangely amusing. Bring on the GhostShip!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just thought of something.....even though YtseCon Vegas will be really cool no matter what, it would be reeeeeallly cool if the band came. :-) :-)

i am going slightly insane here...i know this says the subject is Ytsejam 1325, but its not, really. i have just finished READING Ytsejam 1325...i have just RECEIVED Ytsejam 1345. my mailbox is becoming overrun with Ytsejam's and my brain is about to explode! it's March 14th, but i'm reading mail from March 5th!! pardon me if i sound a bit irate, but i'm running on 5 hours of sleep in two days. anyone got a cure for insomnia? (NyQuil doesn't phase me in the least...i think i'm immune to it) well, i must get back to my...(yech)...reading. just voicing my anger...and i'm sure there are more people here like me... buhbye now... Anna:-) ps this is my first post EVER to the Ytsejam, and i've been receiving it since december...so this is kinda my "debut" here... anyone know where Farmingdale is? (hint: Long Island...) i only know of one other DT fan, him being my boyfriend...(he introduced me to them...i'll love him forever fer that...) okay, now i'm rambling...that's it. i'm done.

y got sick >and had to postpone the show. It has been rescheduled, though (I know a lot >of you out there were holding your breath for that info),

Actually, I was. Well, not really, but that show was gonna be an FM broadcast, and I had planned on taping it. Too, bad because my reception was crystal-clear that night, and that may never happen again!

    A Damn Dyer
