well, i saw iron maiden live in houston last night. thought i'd share my
feelings on it. first off, fear factory put on an excellant show, as i
figured they would. as for maiden, the musicianship was as always great.
dave murray had his guitar go out on him during "the trooper" during the
encore, but it actually turned out pretty cool because steve harris ended
up playing solo with nicko for a minute or so, which sounded great.
about blaze . . . he started out the show great. he didn't seem to have
a lot of endurance last night, though, because as the show went on his
range became more limited and he frequently would hit pitches entirely
out of tune and not correct it, which was annoying. he seems to be a
pretty good showman, even if some of his onstage antics were a bit
silly. i expected the show to consist of mostly new material, but they
played a at least one song from every album except for "no prayer for the
dying". all in all, aside from a mild case of heat exhaustion due to the
fact that there were about 1000 people in a club the size of a living
room, it was a great show.
one other thing. i want to apologize to the guy i flamed about the
"metal is mindless" thing. you're right, i misinterpretted you and i
admit it and i apologize for offending you. no hard feelings. i should
have paid more attention to what you wrote before a started typing.

Hey everyone, this has absolutely no DT content (well, you COULD find associations if you tried: e-mail -> mailing list ->
DT...) but I thought I'd post it here cuz I consider you all my 'circle of friends'... OK, I'm using Netscape Navigator Gold
v2.0 beta. I really like the built-in mail client, and am trying out using it as my mail client. I enjoy all of its features
but so far there's 2 things I haven't been able to do (oh, BTW, I'm using the Win95 version):
1) Window position - every time I start the mail client it appears almost totally off the screen, and I have to maximize it
via the taskbar to be able to use it. Very annoying.
2) Copy of outgoing messages - Every mail client I have EVER used has this feature. Why did Netscape remove it? Or is it that
I just can't find it?
Are these bugs? the 2nd doesn't sound like a casual mistake (oops, I just deleted 15 lines of code). Thanks for your info.
NOTE: If you know of some other area of the Net dedicated to this type of thing, please kindly let me know and I'll take it
there. Sorry for wasting bandwith.
Thanks,

Speaking of Sting, has anyone heard his new album? What about the soundtrack to Dune? Does anyone have the address to send metropolis posts to? I lost mine when my machine was giving me trouble. While you're at it, does anyone know anything about Rush's newsgroups and new album info? other than Alex, what've they been up to? Next, am I the only Toledo-area Ytsejam subscriber? I'm starting to feel lonely amongst all this corn. DT has only ever been here once, years ago and I was too broke to go. Rush has showed up at least once, for the Roll the Bones tour; they're awesome onstage. We get the worst concert schedules, very few great acts ever show up. I was surprised to see Marilyn Manson mentioned on a few earlier posts. They're cool... They're supposed to put on a hell of a show. I like 'Dope Hat' and 'Sweet Dreams' (a remake of the Eurythmics tune). Alice in Chains is cool, too...I like the vocal harmonies in 'Winter Chill' (not sure of the title). How about Mahavishnu Orchestra and Jonas Hellborg. JP fans, keep your eyes on John McLaughlin, a phenomenal guitar player who is easily as good as Petrucci. (not quite as cool, but close) Oh well, i won't bore you anymore. Keep reading your Ayn Rand. Feyd Not Quite a Bass God...yet

The song 7 >days is in 5/4 and a few of the others are in 7, but it could hardly be >described as progressive ... or could it? > Well, odd meters is only one of several guidelines for prog. I think Soundgarden fulfills many. They are highly experimental, deep, and quite intelligent about their music. It's more obvious on Badmorotfinger than on SUperunknown, IMO.
Ed again:

Nor if you go by the sound samples. Somehow, I have this urge to go drink dome NyQuil and take some Sudafed after reading your post...
Digital Man, Take 2: > >Um, we're not all 15, and our parents aren't all dumb enough to subscribe >to AOL. > Yeah, my dad has a Netcom account. :) At least it's a shell, and not a NetCruiser. Of course, the man wrote a significant amount of the original Oracle releases, and now? He doesn't even have a compiler on his home machine. What does this have to do with anything? Not much. Just some family trivia.
>Sorry, I'm a little edgy. I recently spent 32 hours in a row awake, >living on nothing but Mountain Dew and Twinkies. Cut me a little slack, eh?
Try some NyQuil and Sudafed to balance that. You should be neither wired nor sleepy (because of the countering effect) and feeling like shit squared.

I don't think it's named after him. I've seen that font, too. Just a lucky coinkidink.

Some of us love the high volume of the jam, some of us hate it...
I finally figured it out:
It's a conspiracy! Many of us are Rush fans, and there are many Jammers that are also on TNMS. The TNMSer's are responsible for the high volume of this list! They're posting like madmen (and madwomen) to make ax.com crank out those digests. They want the Ytsejam to reach Digest #2112 before TNMS does! So far, the Jam is winning the race. ;)

Okay, enough speculation about the Rush tribute CD already. Does anybody out there have any semi-concrete evidence that points to this too-good-to-be-true project actually materializing?
If so, which song would DT most likely undertake (if they participate at all, and it would be a crime if they didn't)? Personally, I'd like to see them tackle Big Money, The Spirit of Radio or Free Will. But, whatever song they do will kick gigantic ass. What other opinions do y'all have out there in Ytse-land? And who else might be on the record? I Mother Earth? Primus? Zamfir: Master of the Pan Flute? (Maybe if we get a topic like that going, Skadz won't have to start baby-sitting us.) And, did the whole DT tribute project idea just completely fizzle out or what?
BTW, >Not if you go by song titles. Either way, though, I can't wait. Two >words: Mark F**kin' Zonder.

As many of you know all too well, things with the International Fan Club in New York have not been good for quite a while now.
Well, I can let you know that things on this front will soon be changing and sorted out, so that people will be getting what they are due, along with regular mailings, with all the latest news, interviews, and the possibility of some special items.
When tings are finally sorted, and it is up and running 'properly', I will mail the full details, so you can decide for yourself!!!!!

Hello!
You won't believe it, a post with Dream Theater content on Ytsejam!
Signal-noise-ratio went down to under 30%. Am I the only one who thinks that sucks? However...
About the Chroma Key demo:
I heard the whole demo and I didn't like it that much. Beautiful piano and Mark Zonder's brillant drums on "On The Page", but that's it, really. Kevin shouldn't try to sing, "Chroma Key" is just mediocre, and "Sounds Like Watercolor" is, sorry, trash. Listen to that lousy chorus! I simply cannot believe why the one who wrote wonderful tracks like Wait For Sleep and Space Dye Vest thinks he could have any success with songs like that. I can't even believe he likes this stuff. But well, taste differs, and if that is the music Kevin wants to play now, he was of course right when he left Dream Theater. Anyway, check http://www.chromakey.com.

I heard WDADU back in 1990 and was impressed by that thrashy shredding in A Fortune In Lies. Then I heard the cheesy intro of Status Seeker and was disappointed, till I heard the harmony vocals in the chorus and fell in love. I also love the old Queen albums, so I really like bombastic harmonies...
Ok, back to useless ASCII-art crap.

Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch, I've Jammed my Ytse...! And you all know how painful that can be.
I've just read 21 Jams, back to back. No complaints; I expected it, but there ought to be a warning label or something... "do not take in large quantities"... funny, now suddenly I have the urge to don flannel, exude angst, and crank up the Counting Crows...
(Hmm, Don Flannel... wasn't he involved in the Cosa Nostra?)
Man, did I miss out on those Sig wars, damn. And a long-overdue Korn appreciation thread (great band, terrible name). And about 500 posts from DreamNDay.
But, hey, I'm glutton for punishment; I asked for it, I guess, for not unsubscribing before Spring Break... thank Ged I'm not in Bill The Cat mode-- I made that mistake last fall and was greeted with 250 messages after 4 days away. And I deleted all. ALL.
