This is has been bugging me for a long while now, and I JUST
    CAN'T STAND IT ANY LONGER!!!

In Erotomania at 3:05-3:23 it sounds like they're playing the
music to a Coca Cola ad. Listen to it and see if you end up
humming "AAllwaays Coooca-cooola." This has been happening
ever since I first heard the damn song.

    1. Alanis - 31 Varieties of Vanilla

I am sorry I ever asked about her! Anyway, I find it rather
"ironic" that many of the pro-Alanis posts really didn't mention
much about the music - just that he/she identified with the
lyrics or admired her sexually liberal views. (IMO, I wouldn't
touch that slime with a ten foot pole - or anything else - YUCK!)
I think it is rather disturbing that some women (not necessarily
YOU!) are so desperate for their story/perspective to be known,
that they would support an artist not based on talent, but on
the message. I guess for the first time in a long time, it's NOT
    about music.

    2. The Mystical End of Jam Thing

    Didn't mean to. Just luck.

    3. Musicians as Authorities

To clarify if something was unclear - I was using NKOTB
to illustrate the absurd nature of my comment. Not that
we would actually listen to them. Obviously, there aren't
many "celebrities" posting on the list, but I am sure there
are plenty of comparably talented individuals. My point,
in abstract, stands; Success does not equal worth. If you
think only the best, most talented bands make it, well...
Who cares what book Roseanne is reading? Who cares
what Ozzy's views on "The Love Boat" are? So, if someone
were to decide that Alanis sucks based purely on my opinion,
I would consider that individual to be a moron. I am not implying
any sort of celebrity (far from it, in fact), just the ludicrous
loss of freewill that appears to be inundating society.
My opinions, as always, are mine, and yours are just another
    point of view.

    4. EOJ? Doubt it. This wasn't long enough!

So I am sitting here at 540am (8+GMT) after being kick and banned by Gabbo. Obviously, he hates me for me playing Superior's "Why?" over and over again on dreamt 2112. But it rules!

Anyway, be excited that Bernd just sent the CDs. It took a month and some weeks for it to get here. And after that long wait, you start playing it and all yer friends want it. Than, they realise that you can only get if u order it from Bernd himself or go to Superior's hometown and look for it in stores there. And than you realise that you and your friend's Behind CD is probably the only two in your country. Huh, huh, this is really cool.

    ------------------------------

Than, there's a matter of Trey Allen's Ytse-Tees, which took a month and 20 days to ship. And you again realise that these 3 tees are also probably the only ones in your country. But then.. Hmm.

GABBO!!! I think you should have a The Ytse Jam clip in your next round of add-ons. Since you know, the list is called ytsejam. Maybe tt wierd interlude(?) part before the drum solo.

    So how's tt?

Putting a lot of the Birch Hill show on Mike's cd is a great idea. My vote especially goes to the medley and Scarred. I would love to see Innocence Faded from the first CT show on there. Innocence Faded is one of my favorite DT songs, It would be great to have it live on cd.

I know this thread might be over, but I'm just catching up. Someone said how queensryche's concept albums are O:M, promised land, and perhaps Rage For Order, but nothing else.

This baffles me. What about The Warning?? From the first time I listened to this cd, I assumed it was a concept album. I got the lyrics later, and I still believe it. It is so clear to me I don't understand it. Let me explain,

"The Warning" song is kind of an overview of the apocalypse. The child with the pointing hand seems to me to be some sort of thing found in Revelation. "Enforcer" is about some fighting machine. "Enforcer's taking hold of us." Probably with the opposition, and they are afraid of it. "Deliverance", well, I'm not sure. Kind of like flying over the desert or something, like in Star Wars. "No Sanctuary" expresses the worry in the fighters. They have no sanctuary, no safe place. "You scream but no one listens." Just like in war. "NM 156" shows the technology in the future, the computers. The population termination thingy, it all helps the setting. "Take hold of the flame" is kind of the revolutionary song that the army cries to rally up the troops. "Before the storm" happens the day before Judgement day. "We watch the sun rise, and hope that it won't be our last." "Child of fire" they realize how shitty war is. "The pain, the misery, in us all..." and finally "Road to Madness" is a soldier "standing here, awaiting this grand transition" before his death. He reflects on his life. THen he says, "too late, it's time." This is where he dies. Then the song gets faster, so he is hurtling toward the afterlife. He sings more, ending with, "seeing light at the end of sight reminds me, I've passed away."

To me this makes so much sense. Sorry if you don't like Queensryche. I could have written alot more but a) people probably don't care, and b) I don't have the lyrics with me.

Then again, this is coming from the same person who thinks "The Mirror" is about a drug dealer!! (And I can defend that!)

"Krazy Kevin" Lipshitz has been spamming mailing lists with a magazine sales pitch, using a whole series of throwaway AOL accounts. AOL knows about this -- but as soon as one account is cancelled, another springs up to take its place. The beagles mailing list to which I subscribe has been hit five times in four days with the same spew.

So apparently you can still run fake accounts by AOL, at least for a while -- long enough for "Krazy Kevin," anyhow.

(If you get any of these on mailing lists to which you subscribe, forward them, with all headers, to atropos@aol.net or, between May 3 and 14, to djackson@aol.net, because David O'Donnell will be gone during that time and wants these things turned over to AOL security.)

Be careful with this! I've done a lot of woodworking, and it's been my experience that polyeurethane can "melt" oil-based paint markers. Whenever I do a piece of work that has oil-based, metalic paint on it, I always use a polyacrylic. It isn't oil-based, so it won't mix with the paint, and seals just as well. Again, like Ibanez said, 3-5 coats is good. Better safe than VERY sorry. Also, if you're going to do it, laquer the front (obviously) and the back of the guitar. It you only do the front, when the stuff dries it could warp the instrument. This could pose a problem. Of course, if you're just going to cover the area he signed, don't worry about it.

You forgot "La Rosa Negra." IMHO that is absolutely the best song on the album. Gary Hoey Rocks! This sounds kind of like it could be a Santana cover (it's got timbales, congas, etc.) Can anyone tell me if it is or not? I like Santana but I don't have any of his/their CDs so I really don't know.

I, personally think Alanisis great because the music is so honest. She conveys genuine emotion, and sometimes I don't even feel the same emotion she's singing about. Then I analyze what I felt and find that it applies to the song even better than I thought. The emotions are crisp, and her voice just makes it better. Sorry if you don't see it my way. I just love honest music. By the way, DT is far more honest in my opinion. If you can see the complexity of their songs, you find that there are textures deep within the music that make it easier to see the layers inside yourself, and that makes it easier to express yourself. Every time I listen to DT I hear something new. How the chords interact, how the song changes feels, etc. I can never hear it all at once, and hope that I never will.
