tickets were going on sale for the show near Minneapolis. This may be
kinda late but tickets go on sale today (Sat) for the show in Sommerset
Wisc. Sorry this is late but I just found out today.

On Jam #1517 Itchy said about Marillion:

    > Steve Hogarth is very different from Fish, in any way possible... > His still fits like a glove, though...

Yeah ! Like a magic MIDI-glove...! Marillion fans will know what I mean by that... (am I the first one to respond to his own post?)

/me sings: I'm the uninvited Guest!

    -----

    > I have a tidbit of news I cannot elaborate on, for I am sworn to > secrecy (unless someone else spills it) but I can say this: something > we REALLY want (speaking DT-wise) is going to happen. That's all I > can say.

What if we play that 'hot/cold'-thing...

/me says : Do we get a double cd ? Bahr> Getting hot... /me says : Do we get a double cd with Metropolis - part III ? Bahr> Getting hotter... etc...

/me is getting hotter by the minute, but what else is new...

    Let me think...

    1) Double CD 2) Double CD with Metropolis - part III 3) Mike Bahr is actually Mike Portnoy 4) DT are going to tour with Marillion (I wish) This wouldn't be DT opening for Marillion or vice versa... It would be a double-bill, with equal time for both bands !!! 5) DT are going to subscribe to the Jam! (Btw, Marillion's Mark Kelly is subscribed to the Freaks-list and occasionally sends a message, telling great stories or setting the record straight when needed. I've heard Steve Hogarth occasionally drops in too. He's never posted though AFAIK) 6) DT are going to do a live chat on the #jam 7) The next album(s) will be more like I & W 8) KevMo is gonna come to DT. Derek's gonna stay on too ! 9) Tori duet ! (am I the only one who wants this to happen?) 10) They're gonna perform on that YtseCon thing and it's gonna be televised worldwide !!!

Personally I want that Double CD to happen... DT opening for Rush is not on the top of my list because DT shouldn't open for *anyone*. What could/would they do in those 45 minutes ? ACos, AMBI and Scared ? I'm rooting for that 2-CD !

    Hasta Luego... Pasta & Legos,

I'm looking for two CDs that have been each been mentioned here a few times. They are the CD by Superior and the new Jason Becker CD(His first one was amazing, as well as his work with Friedman and some of his David Lee Roth material). Any help would be appreciated(I'm in the US). Send E-Mail to kvillines@gnn.com if you can provide any information.

I just saw an interview with Eddie & Alex on a Dutch movie-show ! The interview was done at E & A's place (WOW, nice place!)... They played a tape with some of that Twister stuff... Really Gr8 !

    They mentioned two titles:

    * The Rock Song * Human's Being

Maybe someone already mentioned those titles (don't remember)

With everybody talking about their fave instra-metal guitar gods, I have to pipe up and give Dave Urich some press time.

Dave is a Chicago legend, and has two discs out on Red Light Records. Both are worth a listen. The first is a bit more creative (one might even say progressive), and includes several tracks with acoustic violin. The second, called "fretnotized", is both an incredible display of skill and a bunch of great tunes.

Best of all, Dave doesn't sound like anybody else out there. There are some parallels with Gary Hoey, but I like Dave's playing better for it's combination of technical fire and variety. He covers a lot of ground from blues to country pickin' to classical sounding fast arpeggio junk. His sound has a Chicago flavor to it which IMHO just kills!

For a brief time, I had the pleasure of taking lessons with him, and I'm completely in awe of his playing.

For there to be a problem, Sega have to find out about the boot. This is very unlikely!

For Sega to take any action, they have to get hold of one of the boots as evidence, which is even less likely!

I just got a good idea, so I will pass it along. I don't have a Saturn, nor will I ever buy one. However, I would absolutely love to hear the music for Necromonicon (sp?). Buying it for $50 and just listening to it seems a little excessive, even if it rocks. so here is my solution:

When it comes out (please someone say when) I am going to walk down to Blockbuster Video and rent it for $4. Take it home, listen to it for three straight days, and dub it on to a cassette. Yes, I know, I would rather have it on cd than cassette, but this is $4 vs. $50. I am going to take the obvious choice.

Oh yeah, does anyone know when the new Type O Negative comes out? THanks.

Hello again. 1. Itchy/Bitchy/Swishy You say that most Maiden fanatics think "Seventh Son" is their *worst* record????? Perhaps you should frequent the Iron Maiden newsgroup. Beside the usual blather putting down "The X-Factor" and the "Bruce vs. Blaze" wars, there are often- times arguements which pertain to the mediocracy of "No Prayer for the Dying" and "TXF," and maybe even "Fear of the Dark," but I have never seen anyone, repeat, anyone, state that "SSOASS" (they do that too, over there.) was the worst. Most people (myself included) consider SSOASS to be the creative and musical peak of Iron Maiden as we knew them. Don't know where you got that impression. 2. Critters that Crawl Ernesto, "escarabajos?" you had me laughing at that one. Reminds me of how they translate some of the comic characters like "Olafo" and "El Raton Mickey." That slays me more than anything because it brings to mind a big nasty rat, not a cute little mouse. 3. Hysteria from the 80's Wow, you guys make me feel old. If your first album was from 88... Not to start an annoying thread, but my first record was either Kiss' "Love Gun" or Journey's "Departure." My, how things have changed. -- Kevin (kwmadden@usa.pipeline.com) GO WINGS!!! This is probably what will end up happening... or the tracks may just get held back for the next CD... or they may just not release them at all.

    > 3a) Have the Japanese release feature a second CD with the extra tracks, > similar to what they did with the Eve mini-CD; this time though, put *all* > the extra songs on the bonus CD, not just one - after all, Japanese releases > almost always seem to have extra goodies that the domestic version doesn't. > (Only problem with this is that it would be more expensive and some may not > have any access to the Japanese import).

This is a pretty shitty idea... not saying it won't happen, but IMO it really pisses me off when bands do things like this. American fans should have the same opportunities to the music as Japanese fans, without having to spend outrageous amounts of time and money tracking down an import CD that has a couple extra tracks on it. Anyone know what's up with that crap anyhow? Are we Americans considered sub-standard fans and as such penalized a track or two just because of where we live?

    > 3b) Have EastWest make a limited series pressing of the new one featuring a > bonus CD, similar to the limited edition version of Soundgarden's > Badmotorfinger which contained a bonus CD with (I think) 5 extra tracks. > Then have the standard release (single CD) as well. (Biggest problem with > this would be *when* to release it, since releasing it right away *may* scare > off some potential buyers from getting a 2 CD set - perhaps make the limited > 2 CD set available only during the second pressing).

Once again, I don't like this idea... what's wrong with making the music available to all of your fans? If some limited CD thing comes out, lots of fans are not even going to know about it, and some of those who do find out about it may not have any luck tracking down one of the precious limited edition discs.

    > 3c) EastWest could release a limited edition CD containing the extra tracks > through some form or other - perhaps through the 'Net, since we 'Jammers are > probably some of the biggest fans DT has or through some sort of voucher that > could be found only within the first pressing of the new CD.

Nope... another bad idea (from my perspective). I'm sure there are plenty of Dream Theater fans out there without net access... I had net access at the time that Mike Bahr released SubConscious, but I had unsubscribed from the jam for a few months because I couldn't keep up with the traffic... when I resubscribed to the Jam, SubCon was sold out.

    > So those are my ideas - take 'em or leave 'em, but I'd like some feedback, > whatever it maybe (except for flames of course).

Well, I'm not flaming you for your ideas... mostly because they are possible scenarios rather than ideas, or at least that's how I interpret them. I don't think any of us DT fans on here would like the idea of limited edition discs with the extra tracks left over from the album. I say that *if* the songs are recorded and released, they should be released in a manner that they can be obtained by the most DT fans possible. That's what the music business is all about anyhow: making money... and you don't make much money by releasing a limited edition CD where the demand is several times more than the supply.

Of course, all of the ideas listed above were assuming that DT actually cleans up too many tracks to fit on the album, and that they record them and release them in some manner. If there are extra tracks to be released, I'd like to see it done either on singles (and release them in the US for once) or on an EP... none of this elitist crap where only fans in a certain country get the extra tracks, or only the first 1000 people to buy the album get the extra tracks, or only people on the net can get the extra tracks.
