I've tried many times to get onto the DT Irc and it doesn't seem to
work. Is the address irc.dreamt.org? I don't know why it won't work.
Maybe I had the wrong address?? Can anyone help me out??

YES!!!! Progressive gangsta rap on the new album!! I knew it, I knew it.

Oh, wait, it says "we"... "What you mean 'we,' Kemosabe?"

Well, let's run down the options of what this mysterious event could be.

    1. Double CD
    2. Show up at YtseCon III
    3. Perform at YtseCon III
    4. Subscribe to the Jam
    5. Rerecord WDADU (w/ Purdell and Baron)
    6. Bring back KevMo

    or...

    7. TOUR WITH RUSH. (my guess)

(after all, Mike did follow up with some more scoop info about Rush's
album, and "Neil doesn't like to tour in the summer")

    Taking bets now...

    Scott.

Cool! I could see it now! Dream Theater - "When the East Coast and West
Coast Unite" featuring songs like James LaBrie and Method Man on "Shaolin
Pt.1 (The Rza and the Gza) and John Petrucci and Dr. Dre doing something
reminiscent of how JP and KM did their guitar/keyboard duels of I&W. Ahh yes
what a great album it will be :)

Awww Yeah!!!!! Imagine hearing LFAGA or TOWHSTS totally remade! But I find
    this highly unlikely.

I find this highly unlikely as well.

WOO-HAH!!!! This would be freakin' awesome! DT puts a killer 45 minute set
with a total of three songs :) and then Rush does a 2 and a half hour show!!!!
I'd see it again and again and again and again and again....

    Hey all!

How do I subscribe to the Marillion mailing list? I know it's something
like freaks@ax.com or something but I'm not really sure how to subscribe. Is
it similar to the subscription to this list? Anyways, all I have to say is
that I have been listening to them none stop over the past few days. Brave is
fuckin' incredible and I'm just getting into Afraid of Sunlight. I still like
Fish's stuff with them better. Clutching at Straws is my favorite with Fish
and probably over all with Misplaced Childhood running at a very close second.
    Oh well.

If we guess correctly, do we get Precious Things?

    My guesses:

    - DT are definitely recording with Peter Collins
    - DT will be touring with Rush
    - DT will be touring with Superior
    - DT will be touring
    - DT *are* releasing a 2-CD set
    - DT are *not* releasing a 2-CD set
    - DT are getting computers and making their way onto the jam
    - Iron Maiden, Yes, Rush and Marillion are recording a DT Tribute Album
    - John Myung is going to speak

    Ummm . . . that's all I can think of for the moment . . .

I don't know about the rest of you, but to me this game soundtrack
basically amounts to a John Petrucci solo instrumental album. I'd love to
see the whole thing on CD, not just the best parts on PT. I know it'd be a
big pain in the ass to dub the whole thing, but I'd love to see it.

There has been a lot of talk about DT using some of the same melodies in songs....I think some of you are missing the point. I can assure you it's not done on accident or because they are running out of ideas. In my opninon it ties songs together in a unique way. I love how in Learning to Live they go back to Wait for Sleep....It gave me chills cause I wasn't expecting it. Anyone who is familiar with Savatage will know they do this quite often. On their album Streets...they have a song called Believe, and at the ending of it they go inot the chorus from "When The Crowds Are Gone" which was on their previous CD "Gutter Ballet"... They also used a melody from "A Little Too Far" on "Alone You Breathe"which is off "Handful Of Rain". They sound so much better with their new singer Zachery Stevens...I think they have a great sound with the piano and should stick to it instead of trying to be a trash band. Remember that cheeseball band Raven? They tried to be a trash band too but then put out that commerical album Stay Hard and people were like "What the Hell Is this?" When they toured with Slayer and Death I hope they didn't play this.... I guess if they did they wouldn't have been killed. My favorite DT song is Metropolis...Did anyone notice what is going on during the extended instrumental section? Kevin starts playing this cool keyboard riff and everyone else is doing their own thing. Then he stops and Petrucci picks up that pattern. Now everyone is doing their own thing while he plays it. When Jihn stops...Mike starts to tap it out on the drums while everyone else does something different...I FOUND THAT SO COOL! I'd like to add my comments on Helloween....I am a huge fan and while I agree they aren't as good as they use to be...They are far from sucking. Helloween was at their best with Keepers part 1...they use to play that "Bouncy" type metal with lots of humor. That's what made them so unique. Now it seems to be just staright ahead metal which is cool but not as cool as the older stuff. The new singer, Andi Deris is very good but he was much better... a lot better in Pink Cream 69.....If you like 80's metal and don't have their S/T CD....go to an import store right now and order it....it's outrageous! Word has it that ex-singer Michael Kiske has a solo album coming out That would be killer!!! What is everyone's opinion on Accept? I realize they've been around for ages but they are just so damn good at writing those "Catchy" "Ball Crunching" tunes....They are awesome live....One question...How does UDO sing like that and still have a vocal chord left in his throat? For those that were unaware...they are still making CDs...Predator was the newest one. I also got a new CD by a band called Vanize which is Udo's brother....they sound like a younger version of Accept and he sings just like him!! Go figure!

    Hi there!

First of aal, my apoligies (sp?) for not posting updates more regularly. I just can't find the time to do it. On top of that my mailbox got deleted 'cause it was 1.2 MB big!, so I had to go to school and ask my systemoperator to put it back in the mailspool for me.

Currently I'm not following any classes, but I'm an intern with a big company and work from 8-5 :( The rest of the time (well..... almost) I spend working on the 'Carpe Diem' project.

I didn't know that making a CD would bring so many problems with it...... I'm having some problems with the master CD, but don't worry! the cd will be released!!. I have everything finished, the envelopes (sp?) & postage and the booklet, but the cd-printing process is pretty slow. I *THINK* (HOPE?) that I can start shipping within a week or 2.

    Sorry for the delay,

    Marcel Berkhout v932407@si.hhs.nl

    >Hey! I'm one of those kids who grew up with Wang Chung and the glam >bands of the 80's. Def Leppard's "Hysteria" was the first cassette I >ever bought, and I still have it.

me too! and so did someone else... man how many other people bought this as their first cassette?

about the tags for music (see elliot's post in 1514, i wont re-post it) i think labels are pointless anyway, cuz they never fit the music in most cases, and people try and tag other bands...

    >Heavy as shit? I understand it was your basic 80's hair band metal.

see? (no flame intended, we all do this, just pulled a quick example)

alternative is the most popular form of music right now, so why the fuck's it called alternative?

oh yeah, can someone schedule DT to play in my back yard? thanks in advance! ;) ;) ;)
