A Possibility but unlikely...most of the openers for Rush got the shit

well i think ol' paul cashman hit the nail right on the thumb here...
i am willing to bet money that this is it. peter renfro (the dude that
organizes progday) said that he was approaching dt's management about
    playing.

my money is on you, paul...

i have pretty much decided not to do another tape tree thing. it
is too time consuming and too many people bitched about the last one.
"it's too bassy" "too much crowd noise". well go buy yourself your own
DAT recorder and mics and see how much better you do before you start
    criticizing a free tape.

Another copy of the G.A.S. - just to make sure everyone has a chance to
    participate.

Item #1: Who do you prefer? Dane Sonnier or Wally Farkas? (Galactic
    Cowboys)
My response/opinion: Farkas is to Sonnier what Vai was to Satriani - the
    student/understudy turned master. Farkas

Item #2: Favorite Galactic Cowboys album: Galactic Cowboys, Space In Your
    Face, or Machine Fish?
My response/opinion: GC made quite an improvement when they were dumped by
Geffen - Geffen or not, Alan Doss did an excellent job producing Machine
Fish, and I think it's, by far, the best sounding and best produced album.
Granted, I'm not quite as familiar with the first two, but, from what I've
heard of them (and they are great, also) Machine Fish takes it for me. MF

Item #3: To those of you who caught Sepultura opening for Ozzy in recent
months: Did you dig them? Or did they just SUCK?!?
My response/OPINION!!!: I have never suffered like that through the
duration of an opening band's show...and I've seen Trixter. It was almost
painful - heck, ditch the 'almost' - it was downright painful! And, I
wasn't the only one. About halfway through their set, the audience
(Phoenix-April 13th) started chanting "Ozzy! Ozzy! Ozzy!" I've NEVER heard
    that before.
("Bloody 'orrible!" - Eric Idle, Monty Python). SUCKED!

Item #4: Being a drummer, this one is of particular interest to me - and to
a lot of you, judging by past Jams: Portnoy's drum sound - which do you
prefer? WDADU, IAW, Awake, or ACOS?
My response/opinion: For myself, I would choose the ACOS sound. For DT,
however, I think the sound utilized in the recording of IAW best fits DT's
music. But, who am I to criticize arguably the world's greatest drummer?
    IAW

Item #5: Finally, who is your favorite? Portnoy or Peart?
My response/opinion: I tend to prefer Portnoy, but maybe that's because I
prefer DT over Rush, but not by a whole lot. I would love to see those guys
engage in a drum duel, if they tour together - that would almost be too
much for any drummer to stand.

I'd also like for those interested to send me a list of their 10 favorite
bands (go ahead and include DT, but, I think we all know who will come out
    on top).
My response/opinion: (In no particular order) DT, King's X, Van Halen,
Rush, GC, Queensryche, Extreme, Saigon Kick, Mr. Big, and Yes.

Send entries to: syoung@primenet.com with 'Re: Survey' in the Subject.
I'll be accepting entries until May 31, at 11:59 pm. Then, I'll tally the
votes and try to post the results on June 1 (my wife's birthday).

Thanks for your participation and refrain from flaming - wow, say THAT ten
    times fast.

I'm pretty sure that Tate sang Mary's parts in SSM. I think I read this
in some mag. but am not sure so don't quote me.

Oh yeah, I bought Brave just before the whole Marillion promotion

i am still alive. i have yet another show, so i've been so damn busy. but a couple of things.

    a) i've been trying to find any info as to who/what/where/when about the ytsecon 3. i haven't found any. any help would be much liked. thank you.

    b) all you funky fresh in da house jammers, i've been hearing a lot of crazy news. july 4th in central park, there will be a free concert featuring parliament funkadelic (the most funkiest fresh in da house of them all) with bootsy collins and the horny horns. to all you pfunk fans, go to it. to all you boys and girls looking for a non-prog, funky ol time, go.

those guys funk so hard, i have to take shower when i'm done listening to them.

    c) been hearing a lot about rush's new album coming out aug. 20th, called "test for echo." 12 tracks, and an instrumental (unsure if inclusive). and no, it would not be good if dt and rush toured. drop the issue already. it's been discussed. it won't happen.

    d) elp and jethro tull are supposedly touring, according to their newsletter....(anyone know when jones beach tickets go on sale, any li'ers?)

{The big news in this issue is a tentative list of the ELP/Tull tour. These aren't official and haven't been confirmed but it matches up well with the information a lot of you have been sending over the past few weeks.

It's amazing how quickly you can read jams by scanning the contents for anything by Mike Bahr or Bafu, reading those and skipping the rest. All the content and half the fat! it's the Jam Lite! :)

Just thought I'd mention for those who were looking for a bootleg of Queensryche's Radio show from the Promised Land tour, I found one called "State of the Art" that's probably from the radio show. It's from the concert that night, claims to be soundboard, and is missing a few songs (commercial break?), so it seems like an edit of the radio show. SOund quality is excellent, but Geoff was sick that night and is off key at much of the beginning :( But, I was there, so it's fun to own. They did have toi cut out "Best I can" and "The Needle Lies" tho. :(

Oh, and I got the QR CD Rom. Coolness.

DTC? Um... Haven't gotten anything new on that front. Didd get Enchant, my first Type O Negative album (bloody kisses) and have Moonspell on order (ack! I'm going goth-metal! ;)

    Have fun, buy lego. :)

    Hi all

just a few bits and pieces as usual:

    1. Whatever happened to Ben? Has he been taken off-line because he used the F-word in one of his posts? (You can, of course, spell it the posh way: PHUQ).

    2. The secret is that Dream Theater are going to open for Superior *and* Vanden Plas, and that Mike Bahr has permission from all three bands to produce an "official" 9 CD set bootleg of the show.

    3. The word is GRY. It is the white sticky substance you find between your toes when you have been wearing training shoes (OK, sneakers) for a whole week without taking them off.

    4. Double CDs don't automatically mean more money. The Smashing Pumpkins' latest CD cost DM 29 over here, as compared to an average price of DM 35 for most new releases.

    5. The new Pantera album "The Great Southern Trendkill" was released here on Friday. My ears are still bleeding. If you like Pantera, go and get it, if not, don't bother. (Does anybody know if there is a Pantera mailing list? If yes, where is it and how do I subscribe)

    6. Am I the only person on the list who likes (as in really likes) REM?

Thought for the day: if sex is a pain in the arse, you're doing something wrong
