In a word. Great. I haven't seen Rush yet live, and I would love to go see DT
again. I don't mind that they'd only get 45 minutes. think of teh exposure
for them. think about two great bands playing in a show. It would be worth
the price of admission. I would have to get both shirts, definitely. Better
start saving. I can understand how non-Rush fans wouldn't want to see this
take place, but I must beg you to give Rush another listen or at least a
first listen. I mean, DT is influenced by them, and it never hurts to check
out the influences of your favorite band to see what makes them tick inside.
You never know what you can discover. You may actually beginto like thjem.

chalk up yet another soul who would be thrill'd to see
both Rush and Dream Theater on the same bill.
howe'er, I notice that all who speak of this
(and many, many have)
mention the '45 minutes' that DT would do...
has anyone consider'd the possibility that
-the two bands might do a double bill?
-DT might play more than 45 min?
-or that *Rush* would be the opener? (haha, good luck)
or have you all been secretly nurturing such thoughts,
but have been ashamed to let them see the light of day,
for whatever reason?
I for one would be surprised,
(if these two bands should actually tour together)
were DT to play so short a set.
Rush is a band IMO that understands what it is like
to have a set composed of or which includes long songs;
it is therefore my gut feeling that
they would not enforce such strictures.
well, I can hope. =)
also, you east coasters make me ill. =P
you talk so easily and so freely of Rush touring with DT
for only part of tour --
of course it would be the eastern leg, wouldn't it? <G>
what about we poor deprived left coasters?
I mean, geez, you guys get everything --
the cons,
the clinics,
the run-ins...
what do we get?
grunge.
so if Rush and DT tour together for only a few shows,
it's gonna be over heah,
or I will shurly turn this continent around wit mah beah hands.
who's gonna hep me?
=)
all of the above said with tongue plant'd between my cheeks.
so laugh, and then admit to the possibilities

Hello Ytseland,
hmmm.. Mike Bahr's secret: DT is going to tour with Superior :)
Well, I don't personally like if DT tours with Rush. At least
if they do show here in Finland. I loved it when DT played here
in a club, places with thousands of people doesn't attract me
when going to concert.
Anyways, I'm going to see Accept at wednesday. One question:
Does anyone know why it is advertised as 'farewell-tour'?

Hello out there!
I don't agree with Itchy about Brave being the best album to start. For a DT
fan it's much easier to get into Marillion after hearing Misplaced
Childhood. It's no coincidence that this album is one of the favourite
albums of Mike Portnoy. It's a briliant concept album, and in contrast with
Brave it's not so heavily laden and such down sounding album and got much
better lyrics. All IMO of course. As far as the rest what Itchy wrote about
the albums I do agree, however. (if one would like to check out some newer
stuff than Misplaced Childhood I suggest Season's end or Afraid of sunlight)
Hey, Itchy, since you're promoting Marrilion that much on the jam, I think
you have promote DT equally much on the Marillion digest !!!!

Further, I received the first two fanzines from Theater of Dreams, the Dutch

Yeah, I hope DT opens up for them even if it is only for like 45 minutes but
what a great 45 minutes it will be. When I went to see Rush back during the
CP tour, Candlebox opened and they were absolutely horrible (no offense to
any Candlebox fans here on the jam if there are any.) After DT, Rush will
definately put on a excellent show. Even though the sound quality on the CP
tour was not great, I still had a blast. And if this tour is supposed to be
like RTB, touring wise and soud quality wise, then this will be the best
freakin' tour ever!!! BTW, this might be my last post on the jam this
semester. Finals are right around the corner and I want to be focused! Even
though I started posting more toward the end of the semester, I've been around
since my freshman year. Everyone have a great summer and I'll see you again
in August (with a review of Rush's new one!!!!!)
Jam on!
Later....

1. Of all the GC cds I have, I like the first one the best. Their new one
is a bit too thrashy for me great vocals though. Their second one annoys
me big time with the 2 annoyingly hidden tracks (why did they do that?).
2. I'm only 27, but my first 3 tapes I got (ON 8 TRACK) were Queen-The
Game, Queen-A Night at the Opera, (I guess I was real big on Another One
Bites the Dust), and AC/DC-Let There Be Rock. Then my first three
cassette tapes were Rush-Exit Stage Left, Joan Jett-I Love Rock and Roll,
and Def Leppard Pyromania. The DL tape is really worn out. The Rush tape
wont fast forward or rewind. I also remember getting AC/DC Back in Black
on vynyl and playing it on my Mickey MOuse reacord player...
3. So DT opened for Iron Maiden? Who else has DT opened for?

Lie when he's singing "I'll try, I swear I'll try"
the guitar goes something like duh duh duh chucka duh...chucka duh, duh duh
duh chucka duh...chucka duh.
It's played faster in the Lie part though, I think.
Pretty silly way to explain it though.

I am not familiar with King Crimson at all. I recently picked up
Threshold's Psychedelacatsen (sp, great cd by the way) and John Wetton's
Battlelines from Avavlnce for 18$ for their 2 for 1 offer. Robert Fripp
plays on Battlelines. The cd insert says they were both in King Crimson
in the 1970's. I am a big fan of John Wetton and was wondering if I
should pick up one of the 4 cds Wetton sings with KC. Which one should I
start with?

Have you tried banging the Rush tape on a hard surface (like a table)
on it's side? This might loosen the tape up to get it to become less
tight. It might work.

As promised, mIRC and Words II has been upgraded once again. It now uses
the just released mIRC 4.1, rather than 4.0.
There are three addon packs up as of now. One has a couple long .wav
files, the second has a collection of Beavis and Butthead sounds, and the
third has a few misc. sounds. If you have any .wavs you'd like to see in
there, email them to me, or DCC them on IRC. I can't promise that they
will be used, but it's possible.
To get mIRC&W and the addon packs, go to:
http://www.phlab.missouri.edu/~c675311/mirc.html
And please, for God's sake remember to use the -d switch when you unzip
the files, it's two characters... really not that tough to type...
As always, if you have any trouble getting hooked up, getting logged onto
dreat.org, etc, email me. I'm out of here in two weeks, but I'll be
checking my mail about once a week or so.
If you have any quesions about setting up aliases, or auto-ops, or notify
lists, or other stuff, I'll answer it, but you could save me the trouble
and read the help file.
If you have an earlier copy of mIRC, go ahead and get this one... you
can modify the .ini files, but unless you use the sound setup I made,
you'll be missing the point of the program. :)

Wrong? No, I still like this album more than the other four of his that I
own. My advice still stands that whoever would like a good dose of Yngwie
and has never heard him before should pick up this album. Am I also wrong
in preferring chocolate ice cream to vanilla?
I think it is you who are wrong, because you have a name. Makes sense,
doesn't it?

Yes, for neo-classical as a whole, but I still don't think Yngwie's best
work was on anything before "Fire & Ice." To me this album absolutely
slams all of his previous stuff, and I still prefer it to "Seventh Sign."

Point #1: Smashing Pumpkins' song-lengths don't even come close to Dream Theater's. If the issue is a time-constraint based on a sudden ton of new material, it's DT who will be playing less in the event of a double-disc, twenty-track release. Capice?
Point #2: Smashing Pumpkins aren't in the 1% of good alternative bands. They're in the top 5%, but they can't break into the high levels until Billy Corgan grows his hair back.
"Now I have a machine gun. Ho ho ho."

Gee, Ozzy only has what...63 albums to choose from? So what if he doesn't play the new material, he's got years of classics to jam on for four hours. His setlist of "possible songs to play live" far outnumbers DT's. I still think a twenty-track release is crazy, unless they include the card they did in Awake so fans could mail in which songs are their most/least favorites.
What, you thought those opinion-cards were just done out of curiosity? Some bands pick their setlists based on the feedback people give after listening to their albums.

I've already got THREE EoJ's... not that I'm keeping score, though...
---
Btw, who here hasn't bought a Marillion album yet ? Or even better, who *has*, after those shameless plugs of mine... You see, I'm interrested in what you guys think of them. Anyone ?
---
About that double-CD or 2 CD's thing: Isn't a double-CD cheaper than two seperate ones ? If a double-cd is too expensive for some, and we *do* get two seperate CD's, which album would you buy ? Wouldn't you want to get both ? Releasing one album and putting the leftovers on several singles would be even more expensive.
I'm still rooting for a double-cd (which isn't gonna happen). I think the best thing for DT/EastWest to do is just release one album at first, and release the second after a couple of months. They released AWAKE in september '94. It'll be 2 whole years between that one and the next album. Having ACoS in between releases didn't help much for me. Maybe an entire album will. I'd rather have it all at once, though.
Love, Peace and lots-of-jams, and remember:
